You can but it is a huge hassle and Betfair are reluctant to admit anyone. When we joined it was just place a bet and then choose a forum name, start posting. Now I think you have to wait 6 months, then start sending emails to betfair requesting posting rights, but these emails are mostly ignored from what I've heard and most can't be bothered with the process.

is there a possibility that the super first aiders etc went over the top with the defabillator etc, as i recall especially during morning asswmbly in the hall a lot of kids fainted in school, youd just carry them out and 10 mins later they were ok .

no criticism  or nothing just a question
Report LoyalHoncho June 12, 2021 8:48 PM BST
Possibly.  Probably been coerced into it by the organisers who are under pressure from Sponsors.  I don't know but I would surmise it is something like that.  That isn't saying I agree with it.  The bottom line for me is that the lad recovers.
Report LoyalHoncho June 12, 2021 8:51 PM BST
From what I saw several players were visibly upset, maybe even angry, that "medics" weren't on the scene quick enough and were beckoning them to hurry up!  I would go on the responses of the players and they were clearly traumatised, so for me it has to have been very serious.

agree, possibly. they did take quite a while to start cpr if they knew it was a CA. Surely they must have determined he had no pulse to start cpr though? isnt giving cpr to a patient who has a heart beat a bit dangerous?
Report Schraderbrau June 12, 2021 8:55 PM BST
My guess is, and hear me out, if he just fainted and had a heartbeat, the specially trained experienced medical team wouldn't have given him the defib or cpr

Report Charlton2005 June 12, 2021 8:58 PM BST
didnt see him get the defib which surely is very dangersous if you have a heart beat. so in all likelihood, this was a heat stroke induced CA

You have got to wonder at the common sense in playing this tournament at all.
Many of the players have been on the go for over a year.
Its summer in europe meaning hot temperatures, for a winter game.
50 odd games in 11 cities, constant travelling, during a pandemic. The risk of catching covid. Not to mention the damage done to the environment.
Christian reportedly had to spend months locked down last year living in inter milans training complex. You have to think about the effect lockdown has had on him.
To top it all off we are asking these guys to go off to boiling heat in qatar next year to play a world cup.And fit in god knows how many meaningless qualifiers on top of a full european season.

From what I have seen of the quality of football its been on a par with a pre season friendly. Like when an epl club goes off to play in china.
This is a day of shame for the once great game of football.
And I dont think anyone will do a thing about it.

Have wondered for a long time now:

I know, money, success, celebrity, but why [in this day and age] aren't players signing contracts committing themselves to playing so many matches, or game-minutes even, per year/season/whatever?
And no more.
Report Whisperingdeath June 13, 2021 7:10 AM BST
Have you considered some people like to play football?

It is not Rugby Union or Boxing. Many players enjoy playing for their country, some take great pride in it. People all over their country play sport even into their 60’s and 70’s and go on tour in the summer.

The6 do not have to play football for their country, they want to. They do not have to p,ay football, they could work as nurses. What would you rather do?
Report elisjohn June 13, 2021 8:26 AM BST
ive watched  live sport on box over 55 years, football, tennis cricket, boxing, grand prix, horse racing , the lot, i must have seen billions of participants, i can count on two   hand a really serious injury/ fatality in all that time, so agree with whispering let get a grip, and so glad it seems erikkson going to be ok , but to cancell the tournament, stop world cups, whats the world going to.

if a member of your immediate family died, youre expected to be back at work in 3 days, so come on lets all enjoy the rest of the tournament
Report ericster June 13, 2021 9:41 AM BST
If the two posts after mine are a reaction to my suggesting that we shouldn't be having these tournaments then you mis-understood my meaning. I want to see these games as much as anybody. But the simple, unpalatable,  truth is that the players are playing too much football imo. Okay, covid hasn't helped.
At Christmas for instance, I get bored with the football coupon because a lot of the serious footballers are on a month off. How about [THAT] for starters? Managers and coaches complain of players risking injury because of fatigue. They're not machines. Give 'em a break eh?
Report loui June 13, 2021 9:53 AM BST
Tennis players can pay about 4 matches a week, some can be 5 setters too, so a lot more draining than footy. Obviously more contact in footy, so more injuries. Was horrible to see what happened last night, but it can happen, anywhere, any place. On with the tourney, we've waited 3 year for one, and happy for the Eriksons they got their dad/husband back
Report ericster June 13, 2021 9:57 AM BST

You are right in that the top players are playing too many games but the fools at UEFA and FIFA have plans for even more games as the Champions league is due to be increased in size and number of games eventually and that tool from FIFA is trying for a World cup every 2 years instead of 4.
Report Angoose June 13, 2021 4:43 PM BST
Christian Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest when he collapsed in Denmark's Euro 2020 match against Finland, said Danish team doctor Morten Boesen.

Earlier, officials said the midfielder was stable in hospital and had sent his greetings to his national team-mates.

Eriksen collapsed shortly before half-time in Denmark's opening Euro 2020 game against Finland on Saturday.

"He was gone. We did cardiac resuscitation, it was a cardiac arrest," said Boesen.

"How close were we to losing him? I don't know, but we got him back after one defib [defibrillation] so that's quite fast.

"The examinations that have been done so far look fine. We don't have an explanation to why it happened."

The 29-year-old Inter Milan player had emergency medical treatment on the pitch before being taken to hospital.

"His condition is stable and he continues to be hospitalised for further examination," said a statement from Danish officials on Sunday morning.

"This morning we have spoken to Christian, who has sent his greetings to his team-mates.

"The team and staff of the national team has received crisis assistance and will continue to be there for each other after yesterday's incident.

"We would like to thank everyone for their heartfelt greetings."
Report Blockfire June 13, 2021 5:10 PM BST

And we're allowing FIFA to insist that all these guys follow their rules and live, train and play in the blistering heat of Qatar.
Still utter madness.
And that is quite apart from the human rights abuses and violations suffered by the workforce who have produced the stadiums which football still happily ignores.
And they'll have the brass neck to have people TTK!   lol.
Report Timber June 13, 2021 7:29 PM BST
Cardiac arrest has nothing to do with fitness, fatigue or age. It wasn't hot at the ground either
It's just part of life.
A scary part at that

Report thelatarps June 13, 2021 7:50 PM BST
Ive been watching football for years and years.
There was never any talk of footballers collapsing in the 70s or 80s.
They are getting more and more regular these incidents now.
Fabrice Muamba, wasnt Daley Blind in trouble a couple of years back?
Now Eriksen.
The game is more physical now than ever. Players run 10k per game as a minimum requirement. All this hi intensity pressing. Its not like it was in mexico 86 for example. Players strolling around in 100 degree heat.
Tennis players might play 5 set matches every other day but look at the french open today. Tsitsipas races to a 2 set lead and then breaks down leaving Djokovic with a virtual stroll to the title.
Thats not sport thats survival.
Rather watch Ant Middleton on C4 tonight.

You have to be concerned with the way the game is going. Qatar is going to be an absolute clusterbomb.
