Kane can flucking do one.
I would tell him, if I was Levy, He can forget about the golden boot. Tell him he aint going to play again. He can turn up for training on the hard shoulder of the M25 and thumb a lift home.
Kane is part of the problem at spurs.
Demands to play every game. The way he bullied himself into the champions league final team ahead of Lucas Moura was shameful.
Time and again against Chelsea, City, Utd, even Leicester he goes missing.
He is a cart horse. So slow. No pace and he is hopeless at aerial duels.
The turning point for us this season was the game at Anfield. Kane missed a header virutally on the goal line and we lost, somehow 2-1. Yet all the blame was on Bergwijn because he missed a far harder chance.
I tell you this.
Kane will let England down this summer. You will cruise thru the group phase yet when you come up against a serious opponent like.. ahem.. Croatia he will do next to nothing. Southgate will be too afraid to sub him and Eng will lose.
Kane is not a player who can carry you to major trophies.
He is not a Cristiano, a Messi, a Rooney, a Suarez. SOmeone who can lift the team. Vardy has won 2 major trophies now. Kane 0. That tells its own story.
Report scandanavian_haven May 17, 2021 11:47 PM BST
what a load of crap

how do you bully your way into a team, it's down to the manager alone to pick the team, he was to blame for selecting a 10% fit Kane who had not played in weeks of Moura, can't be given him a free pass, Poch was weak.

Kane has given too many years and been too loyal most top players would have left a long time ago. Benzema and Lukaku have the same pace as Kane but haven't done badly

All top players leave eventually from Tottenham, Modric, Bale, Campbell, Sheringham, Klinsmann, Walker it's nothing personal on their behalf, they just want to win trophies, Kane is 27, his move is long overdue.

I heard a stat on Talksport tonight, since Tottenham last won a trophy, 89 players have left the club and gone on to win something

he's seen Eriksen win the league with Inter, Trippier probably win the league win Atletico, then he looks around and sees Lamela and Lo Celso.
Report thelatarps May 18, 2021 12:00 AM BST
Presumably you didnt see the league cup final.
Kane started. Was worse than useless. As he often does in games against opponents in which we are overmatched. He cant run. He cant jump. He cant head the ball.
At some point he has to look in the mirror.
Look at the world cup. Golden boot. 3 pens and three goals against panama and someone else in the group stages. Brilliant.
Misses a chance against Croatia.
Then does nothing.
Like so many big time charlies, expects everything on a plate.
The reason why Vardy is a WINNER and Kane is a LOSER is because JV will run himself into the ground for the team.
If chelsea give us Big Tammy and a bit of bunce on top I would bite ROmans hand off.
Report scandanavian_haven May 18, 2021 12:10 AM BST
Vardy always had the pace to run himself into the ground, though he's looking a bit podgier these days
hardly surprising he couldn't get up for the league cup final, probably looked across to Bale with his 4 Champions League final and thinking who cares about this, he's 27

it's true the goals at the world cup were not really note worthy, but his game is about covering short distances well and having a shot on him which he has, you know his well outgrown the club.
Report thelatarps May 18, 2021 12:51 AM BST
Outgrown the club?
There are only three other teams that could possibly afford him. And two of them dont really want him. And I doubt very much wether Chelsea, who probably do need a number 9 can really be ersed.

Kane has a talent for scoring goals. Thats fine when you are dominating your opponents. When you are not then Kane, like many of his ilk  is anonymous. Spurs, and ENgland are in effect playing with 10 men.

I fear that for nothing more than pure selfism Kane has put his club and his country into an invidious position.
Spurs are clearly going to go into a new season, probably with an unsettled star striker, which is a recipe for a relegation campaign. And the history of international football is replete with big name players embarrassing themselves at major tournaments because their mind isnt fully focused on the job in hand.

If i were Southgate I wouldnt be picking Kane in his current mindset.

He's the type of guy Man U would sign, they will have to sign someone good and there are other top Euro clubs looking for a top stiker so I'd say they may end up going for Kane. He will want to break the PL scoring record and there may be only one PL club willing to buy him.

Tottenham have been left reeling by reports England striker Harry Kane wants to leave the London club.

As speculation around Kane's future increased on Monday evening, the club issued a statement saying: "Our focus is on finishing the season as strongly as possible. That's what everyone should be focused on."

Sources have told BBC Sport that the England captain, who has a contract until 2024, has not handed in an official transfer request or directly communicated a wish to move.

But the Premier League's top scorer this season is known to be frustrated after another trophy-less campaign at Spurs, which included the sacking of manager Jose Mourinho in April just before they lost the Carabao Cup final to Manchester City.

Kane has still not won a trophy in his club career and it is thought he has decided he needs to move to satisfy his professional ambitions.

BBC Sport has been told conversations with the club resulted in a plea for him to 'become a Francesco Totti' - the Italian World Cup winner who rebuffed numerous transfer offers to spend his entire senior career at Roma.

This has been greeted with scepticism by the Kane camp, who know the player is coveted by virtually every club, with Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea all known to be interested.

The issue all of them have to confront is that Kane still has three years left on the lucrative six-year contract he signed in 2018.

BBC Sport has previously been told there is no break clause in the contract, while Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy's long-standing reputation as one of the toughest transfer negotiators in the game is another hurdle.

However, keeping an unhappy player against his wishes brings its own problems and it is possible once the season is over, Levy may think the money he can generate for Kane will help a necessary rebuilding exercise. A turbulent couple of seasons for Spurs have seen both Mauricio Pochettino and Mourinho replaced while the coronavirus pandemic has brought huge financial pressures on the club, who must pay for their magnificent new stadium.

Levy himself needs to steer a path to a calmer situation after the criticism he has received in the wake of the failed European Super League plans. A meeting later on Tuesday with the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust, who have called for the entire club executive to stand down, may not be smooth.

I agree. Kane says he wants to win trophies but he did have opportunities at Spurs to win stuff. He played in three cup finals (and a FA Cup semi-final) for Spurs and he scored no goals and was pretty much a passenger in all of these games.

CL final he was about 10% fit so shouldn't of been on the pitch, that was Poch's fault for not playing Moura.
League cup final led by a manager 2 years older than Kane, sacked the cup specialist a week before, that was Levy's fault, don't remember the other final. He needs proper players to play around, being teed up by De Bruyne every week and having passes slipped through by Silva, Sterling and Foden, he'd be nailed on to score 30 prem goals if fit all season.

it's always the go to response of fans to cite greed when a player wants to better himself, how in the world can you moan, he should have left years ago yet he gave you his best years instead, by the time Giggs was nearly 28 he'd won 18 trophies, Kane's won 0. Reminds me of when Sterling left Liverpool, he was clearly going to a club at the time, that had a much better chance of winning trophies, naturally when you step up you are given more money, that's just a by product, to call a player greedy for wanting to improve on his 0 trophy haul at the age of nearly 28 is ridiculous, it's actually greed on your part that you still want more from him, it's the players around him and managers he's had that have left him and you down.

Kane is not a player who can lift a good team into a champion team.
Someone like Drogba, Diego Costa, Suarez, Rooney, Shearer could do that.
Kane cant.
He has no pace. He can not win an aerial duel.

He would add a lot to a team capable of winning trophies. Utd and chelsea seem to have a problem putting teams away so his goals would add to that. The flip side to that is that he would have to expect to be subbed off a lot more with them. And with City.

No problem with him as a person. Without his goals Spurs would be a Europey team at best.
But he is limited. And it seems that certain people are not willing to accept his limitations.

Its the same old story with England captains. They never get the blame for anything.

Tottenham striker Harry Kane says he hopes to have "a good, honest conversation" with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy about his future.

Reports this week claim England captain Kane, 27, has a 'gentleman's agreement' in place to leave the club - and has even formally asked to go.

Speaking on The Overlap with Gary Neville, Kane said he would not want to end his career with "any regrets".

"There's definitely a conversation to be had with the club," said Kane.

"It's a moment in my career where I have to kind of reflect and see where I'm at and have a good, honest conversation with the chairman.

"As players you don't know what the chairman is thinking. He might want to sell me. He might be thinking, 'If I could get £100m then why not?' I'm not going to be worth that for the next two or three years."

He added: "I'm sure that [Levy] will want to set out the plan of where he sees it but ultimately it's going to be down to me and how I feel and what's going to be the best for me and my career at this moment in time.

"I don't want to have come to the end of my career and have any regrets. I want to be the best that I can be. I've said before, I'd never say that I'd stay at Spurs for the rest of my career [and] I'd never say that I would leave Spurs."

Kane continued: "I'm at that stage where people might look at it as, 'he's desperate for trophies, he needs trophies'.

"I feel I can be even better than I have been. I'm not afraid to say I want to be the best. I want to get to the level of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

"This season I'm there watching the Champions League, watching the English teams in there doing amazing. They are the games that I want to be involved in."

No messing around from Harry .....

Kane would not enhance his reputation going to City and winning 2 titles out of 4 and a champion's league, as people would expect them to do that anyway.

I couldn't see him being their main man. They seem better playing the false nine with all the space that creates. Can't do that with a guy that is standing, immobile, 30 yards from goal the whole game.

Report lurka May 20, 2021 3:28 PM BST
Where does he say he wants to enhance his reputation? He wants to win trophies, play CL and become a better player. And he wants that PL scoring record too - I'd imagine that's very high on his list of personal goals.

If he played as a false 9 he wouldn't have to move as much as a traditional No.9 and it might actually suit him as he's not the most mobile. That role mightn't suit him if he wants to score goals but at City he'd still bag more goals even playing a false 9 imo. It depends on whether Pep is interested, you wouldn't know how he might use him. He could revamp his team again to accomodate him or he mightn't be what he's looking for at all or not worth the money to him.

Some on here seem to think Kane is on the decline. Injuries are a worry for any buyer but he is only coming into his prime as a footballer otherwise.

Kane is not in decline, but he is at his peak. Levy must sell now to get maximum return.

In the interview said he wanted to get to the level of Messi and Ronaldo. You don't get near there by playing 26 games in a squad that wins titles they would have won anyway without you. Have to be the main man, and I can't see it at City.

Ronaldo and Messi do not have their reputation simply they played on teams that won x number of trophies, it is rather the perception that their teams would have won far less without them.

I can't have Kane as a false 9, you do have to be more mobile as it involves dropping to the halfway line in a packed midfield a lot of the time, and still being fast enough to get from there to the end of the move.

You wouldn't know with Pep. Neither Kane or Haaland seem to be technically gifted enough to be his type of player imo. But he might see a role for him and accommodate him. Nobody would have predicted how he revamped his team up top and ran away with the league without a recognised striker. Wouldn't surprise me if he does it again, can't see him playing without a striker next year.

If he had a proper finisher in the middle it might improve them a lot as they still miss a lot of chances. Kane drops deep with Spurs and is good at linking up play and putting other players in and it hasn't stopped him scoring this season. And that was under Mourinho who was sitting back half the time and Kane not seeing the ball for long periods. Pep will find a good role for him if he's interested.

It could have a lot to with with whether City win the CL this year or not. Or even not wanting Kane going to Chelsea or Man U. But I wouldn't be surprised if City went for Messi and Bayern went for Haaland this year or next either. If City want Kane I think he'll go there.

Maybe, also Chelsea basically play with a false 9 the last 3 months, they miss more chances than City, and pundits say 'if they had Kane on the end of those....'

But IMO the false 9 system is the key to creating all the great chances in the first place, because of the space it opens behind the defence (as the defence naturally pushes up with no one to mark)

I agree it's hard to see Haaland as a 'false nine' too, but perhaps Pep thinks that he (or Kane) does have enough skill to drop deeper and make it work. Of course there will be games when the whole opposition just camp on the edge of their box and refuse to come out whether there is a City centre forward or not so perhaps Pep is thinking of that in wanting one of these two.

incidentally Aguero going to Barca, if fit a very good signing, I'd bin Griezmann

'if fit' should be 'IF fit'

However, with finances tight at Barcelona, they are instead set to focus on the free-transfer capture of Sergio Aguero instead.

And, according to Spanish journalist Alvaro Montero, speaking to Sky Sports, Barcelona believe Kane has already picked his next club.

“After asking, I believe that Harry Kane is not the priority number one of Barcelona,” he explained.

“Once you ask inside the club, the feeling inside Barcelona is that Harry Kane is going to stay in the Premier League.

“Here in Spain, we are talking about Manchester City as the next team.” Wink
