Jose Mourinho has been appointed Roma manager from the start of the 2021-22 season.

The Portuguese manager will replace Paulo Fonseca, who Roma announced earlier on Tuesday would leave the club at the end of the current campaign.

Mourinho was sacked as Tottenham boss on 19 April and had said he would "wait to be back in football" following his dismissal.

He has signed a three-year-deal with Roma, who are seventh in Serie A.

Didn't take long for him to be snapped up.

Interesting one that.

A Spurs level job really.

If he could win Serie A with them he'd be right back in business. Cannot see it myself, probably 4th or 5th and sacked after 18 months.

"After meetings with the ownership, I immediately understood their ambitions for Roma. Together we want to build a winning project.

“The incredible passion of the fans convinced me to accept the job. I can't wait to start next season. Daje Roma!"

would be a very impressive achievement winning serie a with roma

perhaps his biggest ever

took fabio capello and batistuta to win it for them last time

I mean 5th or 6th. They'd be pleased with 4th but Juve/Inter/Atalanta some way superior and then Milan/Lazio/Napoli perhaps all better too.

Atalanta have no money though, Gasperini will be doing well to keep them there long term
Report Giuseppe May 4, 2021 2:42 PM BST
Atalanta aren't a big club, bit like Leicester

Jose will do well to get Roma in the top four next season without some major investment, they seem to be struggling this season.
Report Giuseppe May 4, 2021 5:01 PM BST
judging by the press release it sounds like he is expecting a lot of money to be made available to him
Report Tiger Tiger May 4, 2021 5:03 PM BST
It look like he will need it as there doesnt seem to be a lot of players that are already at Roma that would raise much money for him. He'll need a fair bag of swag.

Roma is these days best known for having a comedy Twitter account. Not sure what Jose will make of that.
