Not complaining but PP have settled my £50 bet on Man City to win this years premier league. Do they know something we don't ?

Exactly. PP are well known for this type of gimmick. They've yet again made an early call that City are showing a strength which makes them highly unlikely to fail. So, instead of having this money sitting idle, tied up for months, waiting for inevitable payout, they hand it back early in the hope it'll be returned to them quicker via present wagers. "Here, there's your early City winnings!..even though it hasn't yet officially came in!! So now that you have those winnings you shouldn't really have yet, don't forget to come to our Casino and spunk the lot on our **** games, you fukking mug"

Even if they don't pay you out straight away you are getting 18%
on top of your original bet(obviously you risk losing the lot)
But that was the risk you expected to be taking anyway.

Yes I see the point of expecting to get it back from the mugs but 1.18 is 1.18 . They are also taking the risk that  this market could be cancelled if because of covid the season was abandoned. I know thats a low rusk. I suppose my £50 plus £90 winnings is peanuts to them. Still It makes me choose them next time over the firm who recently told me that they would only accept £2. On a 7/4 ice hockey wager !

Out of respect should have waited until after the Liverpool game.

It is a bit chancy though.  Yes they look the stand out team but Liverpool could find their old form, United are going along quite nicely and in with some sort of shout, count one possible from all the others too and they're paying out on possible losing bets.

Have they been caught before doing this, paying out early on the wrong winner?

you have to understand that Paddies don't care if City win or lose the league, the publicity combined with the most of the payouts going straight back to them on mug bet makes it worth their while, remember Fergie seething with them one year after they paid out on United to win the league long before it was over, it's just a stunt, if it really was going to hurt their pocket they wouldn't do it.

I dont mind giving them publicity for an early payout on a bet thats not won yet. Bring it on !

Because its over

Pool are not the same standard as last, and United are their closest challengers at the minute Crazy

That's just it though it's not 'Over'.  If there were half a dozen games to go and City were six points clear I'd understand it a bit more but we're only halfway through the season anything could happen.

It must be a bad business move to pay people out for no reason on possible losing tickets.  It's ok saying yes but they'll only lose it in our shops eventually, well on that basis why not give them their money back for every other bet they make.

No it's absolutely ridiculous to pay out at this stage even though they may well be right of course but silly to do so.

I ask again, in the past Paddy's have done this but have they ever paid out early and got it wrong?

Just looked it up.

In 2016 they paid out early on Hilary Clinton to beat Trump and got it wrong.  It cost them £800,000.

See what I mean utterly ridiculous, what other business would do that for no reason?  Just simply wait for the result and pay out the actual winners.  Their 'Guess' just cost them £800,000

In 2008 they paid out on Stoke being relegated .................. wrong again.

Utterly ridiculous to do this for no reason.

Its not much to pay out and will be re bet and probably lose its all a game ............

if the bet was to win £100000 they would not pay out early but 20-30-50-100 its going back to their sort code at some point..

On that logic how come no other bookie does it?

It's ridiculous what you're saying.  They paid out £800,000 as I mentioned below on the Presedentsy probably all in in 20 - 50- 100's .......... but its till came to £800,000.  Absolutely ridiculous.  I'd love City not to win out so they look silly again.

Firstly, the "reason" has already been explained. It's a gimmick to draw attention to themselves. No established firm is ran by fools..so You can be sure any decision they make is far from willy-nilly, and certain never to harm their bottom line.

Secondly, believing what those bastards tell you they've "lost" on any market is ridiculous. Remember when they said Leicester winning the league "cost them" gazillions? They acted like they never took a **** bean on City-United-Chelsea-Pool-Arsenal(and all the rest in-between them and lowly Leicester) as their pathetic PR teams pleaded poverty and pumped out complete lies and sheer poppycock in the aftermath. They jumped all over the freak exception and immediately used it to offer up absurd odds on rank rotten outsiders for future events.

Thirdly, even if Pool beat City today(which would hardly be a huge shock) it's highly unlikely to have any sort of fatal impact on City's hopes. United with their mickey mouse manager remain a laughing stock that nobody is really considering as serious title challengers. So the fact would remain that City will remain in control no matter the result this afternoon..and Liverpool(their 1 and only realistic title challenger, IF they could regain threatening form) have for a while - and more so very recently given the impression they are far more likely to suffer and squander pts against mediocre/poor outfits than what City are. After that embarrassing defeat to Brighton the other night, all Klopp could offer up as excuse was his side "looked mentally and physically TIRED"(not good at the half-way stage of campaign..)

They must be fools to pay out on a 'Probable' result rather than wait till season finishes and payout on an 'Actual' result.

Complete nonsense to do it as it was with the two past results I highlighted that cost them lots.  End of.

U are right in some ways lou, but if u think about it, Paddy Power are paying out some large sums now that they might not lose, but in return they are getting it all back and more with the free publicity and advertising of the brand. Not to mention the goodwill and feel good factor with those customers who have been paid out early.

I take your point but weighing everything up surely it would be miles better to do as every other single bookmaker does .............. rather than take a chance giving away free money to possible losing bets to simply wait for the outcome as they do for 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of other markets.
