How is he odds on , no sporting achievement for the year and the rules state u need one, so he might not even be nominated.
Not everyone in agreement of what hes doing either ,hes going against the governments wishes too who run the BBC.

For that reason, I seriously doubt he'll be nominated. Despite its slightly confusing name, the award is about sporting success and achievements. If he's nominated, he'll win; but given a panel of judges will go through it on the criteria, it's far, far more likely he won't be nominated but will win something else on the night, perhaps the Helen Rollason award.

no chance he would win if he was nominated, go through the list of past winners, it's because they achieved something during the last year, he would be breaking that mould. Most people who vote are sports fans, sports fans are not going to vote for someone because he fought for free school dinners.

That table didn't come out as planned but I have learned something from the experience.
If Rashford wins sports personality of the year over Lewis Hamilton, incoming 7 time world F1 Champions who's just broke Schumachers 91 GP win record, then the award is laughable, he's not as unpopular as people suggest, he won it before and was runner up 4 times, I can't see people voting for Rashford in droves.
But the award is laughable, everybody knows that 
Hamilton runner up in 2007/2008/2018/2019, won it in 2014.
Personally, I think that the award will go to the person who can calculate the marginal advertising revenue from substituting an episode of Heathrow : Britain's Busiest Airport with a thrilling EPL encounter between West Brom and Burnley

don't think he was clear winner in the four times he was runner up, 2007 didn't win anything, Calzaghe probable deserving winner, 2008 imo he really should have but still Hoy was multi gold medalist, 2018 Thomas won Tour de France, last year I think he should won, Stokes won but England didn't even win the ashes. But overall don't think he's been hard done by.
