Both teams like to concede from set pieces. Arsenal's defence truly rancid thou.

Chelsea have looked good since lockdown. Arsenal haven't, but managed seven wins since lockdown including a couple of unlikely wins against Liverpp0ol and Man City.

Suspect Chelsea will have far too much for Arsenal this Saturday and Lampard is better tactically than Arteta who is over reliant on Aubameyang. Expecting Chelsea to win with a couple of goals to spare.

Recipe for a goal fest Grin
Report Angoose July 27, 2020 2:29 PM BST
In the League, Liverpool conceded 33 goals, Man City 35, and Man Utd 36.
Arsenal conceded 48, whilst Chelsea conceded 54.
Report JC1326 July 27, 2020 5:12 PM BST
Arsenal's defence did all right against Man City.

I actually feel Lampard is a bit overrated, and Arteta underrated. I think it'll be closer than the odds suggest.
Report lurka July 27, 2020 6:44 PM BST
Arsenal had all 11 men within 25 yards of their goal at times in the second half against City and Arteta knows the patterns City use again and again and how to nullify them. But he had to use the whole team at times and 8 or 9 men most of the second half to do it and only because he had the goal lead.

Chelsea are weak at the back too and a similar counter-attacking strategy might work against them. Changing keeper makes them better at the back straight away tho. And Giroud will get a lot of joy from Arsenal's CHs imo. Different proposition for them with him up top. Maguire couldn't handle him in the semi and he's built for it.

Last time these 2 met in a final they shared 5 goals.  Men against boys stuff.  Spurs are ... well spursy and arsenal's standards have declined shockingly in recent years.  Only Chelsea have offered any kind of resistance to the northern giants.  Can arteta  change the dynamic? No longer regarded as a big trophy I know but it would be a start.
Report Blackrock July 28, 2020 11:03 AM BST
The good will triumph over the evil.

Giroud isn't worth a copper coin and Luiz will have him in his pocket. Only player Chelsea have who could cause damage is Pulisic. He is top draw imo.

So to sum up, come on you REDS.
Report Storm Alert August 1, 2020 12:33 PM BST
Mikel Arteta and Frank Lampard are both aiming to win first trophies as managers.

Arsenal has won a record 13 FA Cups, never lost to Chelsea in an FA Cup final, finished eighth in the Premier League and will not qualify for the Europa League if they lose at Wembley. Lampard is trying to be the first English Manager to win a major trophy at Chelsea since 1971. Giroud has scored 16 goals in the competition.

Arsenal - Chambers, Mari, Mustafi & Martinelli out through injury, Soares cup tied and Bellerin doubtful.
Chelsea - Loftus-Cheek injured, Kante and Willian are both in the squad after injuries.

I still think this will be walk in the park for Chelsea.

I can't make up my mind about this one, which is a sure sign that it's best to leave it alone. If I have a bet, it would be over 3.5 goals or BTTS. I can't see either defence not conceding.

Normally seeing a match like this would be on Chelsea with confidence, but after watching Arsenal v Man City seen an Arsenal side I haven't seen in a long time, not buckling under pressure and looking pretty composed unlike the recent Arsenal. Will still be going for Chelsea , but not with as much confidence. Hopefully a good match with goals, and the best team wins without VAR

Arsenal - Martínez, Holding, David Luiz, Tierney, Bellerín, Ceballos, Xhaka, Maitland-Niles, Pépé, Lacazette, Aubameyang
Chelsea - Caballero, Azpilicueta, Zouma, Rüdiger, James, Jorginho, Kovacic, Alonso, Mount, Giroud, Pulisic

Willian and Kante missing from starting eleven should make Chelsea weaker.

The FA Cup stopped being relevant in 1999.  Most of the big clubs don't give it any validation these days.

that's why the big clubs nearly always win it, think in the last 25 years it's been won by Arsenal, Liverpool, Man United, Man City and Chelsea 23 times together, only Wigan and Portsmouth broke that mould.

wolf not sure why you are rehashing a months old debate you seem to live for arguments, you need to learn to let things go. Though you do excel at taking things out of context!

Lampard did in that game outwit Mourinho, which was discussed on the Mourinho thread.....way back in March, you were saying that tactics werent that important yet Mourinho was decrying the tactics Lampard deployed which helped beat his team.

Of course I did not understand how Arteta got the job, it's a pretty basic thing to say, he had no experience or track record and was taking over a big club, I also said he had the ingredients to succeed but would not have been my choice. Also said all managers need time to get all there players in and all the players he didn't buy and doesn't want, out.

A pleasing result for Arsenal and straight into Europa League proper. Another major trophy in the cabinet and amazing to think the "great" Spurs team of recent years has won nothing, zilch. Spurs now condemned to three qualifying rounds just to reach Europa League proper.

I'm giving up football betting though, absolutely hopeless since lockdown. Chelsea didn't get much luck yesterday to be fair, but surprised how they sort of folded (they needed Drogba).

Well done Arsenal. A decent end to a very poor season but I certainly wouldn't consider either domestic cup to be a major trophy.  It's more of a novelty nowadays. Even Man City seem less enthused by it that they've been in previous seasons.
