I said in the summer Ryan Mason would have been preferable to Nuno. The 4-2 away win at Leicester, last day of season was one of our best performances last year & Mason certainly got the English players motivated.
However my choice, was and still is Potter. He’s got Brighton playing attractive football, with an inferior squad to Spurs.

I enjoy all this talk of numerous lousy managers we have had ,causing us to play slow ,sideways ,losing football........I also enjoy this chatter that every one of our injured players ,is a saviour and will make us better on his return.......I do not believe any of it though ,rather I think we have a really poor squad ,with only a few exceptions.

Just watched the highlights so can't judge the whole game, but what I did witness was both the good and bad side of Ndombele, but I do like him. Sanchez yet again showing why he isn't revered, but Alli looked focused to be fair to him. Not sure about Romero yet and if Gil isn't the real deal, then he is trying hard to be. Insufficient highlights to comment further.

It's so clear that Nuno is completely out of his depth. He looks like a lost child when things don't go his way or when Spurs concede a goal. Six goals conceded to two extremely average teams.  He's got to go as there's no way he can handle this job.

Nuno "Some spurs players didnt implement plan"

Now that just goes to show that either

A) they are to thick to understand instructions

B) there is enough players in the team whom doesn't trust the managers tactics

Either way this is the begining of a very short term as manager, but the biggest problem is Daniel Levy. He has made a shambles of so much since the stadium was built. The chairman is the biggest problem, he doesnt know football. What is it 2 trophies in near on 30 years

I think that's what Nuno was hinting at in his interview. He trusted players who aren't prepared to put in a shift or follow instructions. How is Alli still there? He must be one of the biggest wasters out there. Spurs fans should want him long gone. Worrying if he's lost the dressing room after 6 games. He got the new manager bounce when the won their first three games (including City). But his position is almost untenable now as he's already lost the dressing room.

Spurs chances for and against in comparison to the league leaders,,,,,,,,,,,, wait til you see these.

Liverpool Goals 15 and 4 against
Spurs Goals 4 and 9 Against

Spurs shots on Target - 10 at Home and 9 Away = 19
Liverpool shots on target - 26 Home and 21 Away = 47

Spurs Shots of Target - 29 at Home and 17 Away = 46 (Liverpool have had more on Target in 6 games)
Liverpool Shots of Target - 66 At Home and 57 Away = 123

On target against - 15 at Home and 16 Away = 31
Liverpool - 9 at home and 10 Away = 19

Shots off target agaunst - 39 at Home and 39 away = 78
Liverpool - 26 at home and 28 Away = 54

Spurs have had Palace, Watford and Wolves, 3 of the bottom 6 teams and have amanaged less shots off target then LIverpool has hit the target!!

Nuno can say they didnt implement the game plan, but thats been like that in several games. They Press as individuals, One presses and the 2nd press is so badly coached that its 3 or 4 seconds late. The Defence is however when the 2nd press is late has already retreated 10-15yards. There is now a developing hole the length of HGV Vehicle + between the lines. The fool is playing Ali in the midfield with Ndombele. Ali who lifts weights and is slow and unfit and isnt discliplined enough to that job and Ndombele who doesnt work back, because he is a luxury player!!

You got Moura, Ali and Ndombele all players who want to be further up the pitch playing an number 10 role. You got Son who doesnt know if he is a striker playing of the shoulder or an winger and then you got Kane who wants to play the 10 role. You got a back 4 in which the full backs arent good enough defensivley and Dier who isnt a centre back and Sanchez who is to stupid to know what position he is playing. If your going to play that many attack minded players who should press as an unit, you push up and squeeze the space like Poch deployed, Unfortunatly for Poch his back line got old and was exposed in behind after we lost walker and Vertonghan got old.

Now they turn up and try not to lose and hope that Harry or Son bails them out for a win. They're so deep at the back it is one pass and Arsenal was at our back four  on a 4 on 4 situation. Same was against Chelsea who should of scored 7 or 8 and if they turned up in the first half would have. Wolves could finish they would've had 5 or 6 and City should've scofred a hatful against Spurs. Watford must be kicking themselves for not turning up. Palace looked an attacking force FFS.

Nuno I thought was going to cry in the interview, suppose after masqerading as a success at Wolves for so long and then getting the job as sixth or seven choice at a club with such big resources, you'd forgive him for thinking this is his big shot...... he now realises he is so out of hid depth that he is a terriable coach and is burrowed time as an manager. If he isnt sacked by the end of October i'd be amazed, because in all my life I have not seen an man more out of his depth then he is. He is quite simply useless

This time Levy had to get it right, he has made a complete mess of a lot of things, but the sacking of Mourinho before a final, in which we thought there was a directive and plan for that to happen. Clearly there wasnt, that is clear and now he has brought this muppet in, its time to say thanks Daniel but your bad decisions certainly out weighs the good ones, in the ratio of shots by Liverpool in comparison to this spurs team.

“He was very defensive and played on the counter attack and the Tottenham supporters do not want to play that way. They want to press and play on the front foot. That’s how they played under Mauricio Pochettino. It’s not been like that under Nuno.
“This is a crisis there at the moment. At times in the last few games they have been all over the place. You would say it is bizarre to question him so early on but that’s football.”

So far Spurs in 6 league games and 4 cup games have been the worse ive seen in 40yrs of following spurs. Jose got sacked because the danger was if he won the cup final he could sue for wrongful dismissal like Conte did at Chels a few years back.

Nuno has had to learn some harsh lessons these last few weeks. Namely that some of the Poch old boys are no longer up to it.
They have made him look a right mug. There is no effort and no desire.
Drastic changes are required.
Starting with the Captain.
Kane cant chase a ball over the top nor win an aerial duel. In a game like the north london derby he is worse than useless.
For me he needs benching. He can play in the Europa conference, cup games and the likes of Norwich at home in the EPL. Doubtless Southgate will keep playing him in every ingerlund game. He is welcome to him.
Sonny will have to make do as a no.9 for what is likely to be a long and arduous slog around the middle to lower reaches of the prem.

Its going to take a season for Nuno to get a handle on this squad. If he is allowed to stay. If i were Nuno, today should mark a line in the sand. Changes will be made. Ship up or shape out. But you aint making a mug out of me again, like they did today.

That was part of the problem with Mourinho.
Levy wanted guys like Dele in the first team squad playing regularly as he is a big name, gets big wages and could potentially command a big fee.
Having him on the outside looking in was benefitting no body in a commercial sense.
But in a football sense Jose was probably right. Dele wasnt trying, so he didnt play.

Nuno has been here five minutes. He picked the right team v man city and the wrong team v chels and in the NLD.
There is a place  at the moment for Kane and Alli. Unfortunately its in the conference league team, they cant be trusted in most games vs committed epl opponents.

You can get rid of Nuno. But I'd be looking at getting rid of the clique in the dressing room first and then Levy too. He's found 1 top manager in 20 years and not backed him, admitted that it's his biggest regret. Levy is a shareholder so that prob isn't possible. But picking managers like Nuno and Mourinho is just not Spurs and shows how out of touch he is.

Re Mourinho, I'd say he had a clause in his contract that he could be fired on the cheap if he hadn't met targets, which would have been league position and trophies. That's why I think he was fired right before the final. It would have cost millions more to get rid if he'd won. It clearly wasn't working long before then and he would have been fired soon anyway, hence the timing but not sure how I'd feel about Levy doing that if I were a Spurs fan. Undermining the chance to win silverware to save money? How do fans feel about that if that was the case?

IMO opinion getting rid of Nuno now is utter madness.

We just have to accept we have an aging squad of first team regulars, we cant find adequate replacements and we arent very good at the mo.
Nuno is on a two year contract, let him run with it.

Personally I am a big fan of Levy. He played hardball with city over the summer. They wont be coming back again after any of our players any time soon. Theyve learnt the hard way. Same as Utd had to.
Its time for Levy to stamp his authority on the club  I say. I think he has said to Nuno, that these are the players, you are going to have get on with it.
I think Nuno knows what he has to do. Lets not forget Nuno got Wolves out of the championship with a record number of points and under quite a lot of pressure. The wolves had gone all in and had the efl financial fair play rules on their case if he had failed. Could have been a derby situation.

Nuno cant allow what happened today to continue. He got a fine performance and result against city on match day one. He needs to look to that result for the key to turn this ship around.

Which is to pick 8 players concentrating on defence with 3 forwards.
Kante, Jorginho and Kovacic are better than what we have, admittedly but none of them are going to break a team  down in a manner of Glenn Hoddle.
Lets face facts, the Arsenal are not an elite team. Let them come at you and then hit them on the counter. Like we did against City. And the big difference is that Kane did not play against City. There, I fear, is the answer.

THe hardest thing to do in football is to score a goal Tone.
Spurs beat city because  our mindset was to keep them out. There was no Aguero, no Kane ha ha, thats their problem. We rode the initial storm and if memory serves we rarely looked in trouble after.

There are not 19 other teams in the epl of the calibre of Barcelona under Pep. Most of them are bang average. 50 per cent of the time our opponents are going to be in as bad a run of form as we are. What you dont do in that situation is set up to give them space on the counter. Like Nuno has done the last twice v our nearest and dearest.
He has been egged on by the supposed Tottenham tradition of attacking football. Nuts to that.
We dont have Poch, we dont have a young buccaneering team like we did 5 or 6 years ago..

What we do have is a fairly good squad of footballers. Miles off the champions league admittedly. But what this season has to be about is managing the fixture list.
Playing Villa, a team in better form than us, we set up like we did v City. 3 forwards, 8 defenders and we let them have the ball and we do them on the counter. Kane and Dele can go midweek to slovenia and fill their boots. And sit on the bench sunday.

I am sorry if this offends the sensibilities of tottenham media mouthpieces like Danny Kelly but that is where we find ourselves at the moment.

Ask yourself what did the great teams of english football do when they won their european cups, faced with awkward opponents? The Liverpools, the Forest, the VIlla, Utd, Chelsea?
Did they turn up at the nou camp and go toe to toe as the tottenham tradition demands?
Or were they well organised and play on the counter?

Nuno is a defensive coach. He knows what to do. Just let him do it and we will be fine.

Losing 3 London derbies is a recipe for the sack, I think Mason will be in before Christmas,
which leaves us back to square one. So many fans  having a go at Arry but don't forget Sonny is not getting any service either.
I can't remember who's watch it was on that signed Lo Celso and NDembele, I'm almost certain it
was Pochetino, however the damage was done when in a summer window no one was added to the squad.
Both the midfielders mentioned are luxuries we can't afford, and thereby lies one of the problems.
The centre backs are worse, although we do have Romero and Rodon, so there is hope.
We need to replace the left back I'm clinging to the fact we have the always injured Sessegnon who might be an answer.
We played long ball against Arsenal, we got caught out by a tactical change at half-time against Chelsea
I dare say the sending off didn't help against Palace, but Nono was clueless with the revised situation.
We need an inspirational manager, someone like Arry Redknapp, but there's not many around.
The squad ain't going to be replaced overnight hence that's the only solution.
As an Arsenal fan said to me "You didn't turn up" that is a sackable offence, and the sooner Nono goes the better.

People are having a laugh talking up the "king of the jungle" for the Spurs job.  And Spurs fans should be ashamed of themselves for the abuse of their manager.  No better than Arsenal fans.

I found the history (if you can call it that) of Mura interesting. What a game for them to be involved in, which (I guess) is the beauty of the Conference League. I never quite grasped that fact until last night.

...and on the subject of last night, I think we all saw just how poor some of our players are. From the starting line up...

Gollini; does not fill me with any confidence whatsoever
Doherty; has now proven, beyond any reasonable doubt, guilty of impersonating a footballer
Rodon; is a player I feel will improve, over time. His composure is up there with the best, but can be a little too self-assured at times.
Romero; not yet convinced, but will reserve judgement
Reguilon; probably the best starter, but was lost with the clowns around him
Alli; has lost his way and needs to find another club, didn't impress me at all last night. He should have been controlling the game.
Skipp; I'm not his biggest fan and I think that Spurs are too big for him, but he done ok against these minnows to be fair
Winks; Spurs has always been to big for him imo and last night cemented that view
Lo Celso; good goal but also useless without decent players around him, but once they came on he was a different player altogether. Definite starter this weekend. Has to be.
Gil; I missed a game a few weeks back where he was being lauded in the press, but I'm yet to see it. Tried hard but no end product.
Scarlett; sorry son, but you're not ready for the first team, not yet anyway.

Kind of disappointing that they had to bring on the big guns to finish this pub team off.  Alli was useless as usual and Scarlett is definitely not ready. Pretty bad performance all round after they went 2-0 till Kane, Son and Moura came on to rescue the situation.  Villa will certainly fancy their chances on Sunday.

Goalie can't make a judgement or the defence based on that performance against that level of opposition.

Midfield - winks was tidy but literally that constitutes to being able to pass nicely in triangular spaces!! Skipp is lost in there with teammates whom struggle to press.

Dele tried to carry that midfield and attack as the senior player, but he lacks the ability to press and win the ball back that made him so good in Poch team that squeezed up, dele is no longer deployed or in a team that suited what he did well.

Gill has no left foot it seemed to me and looks like he isn't strong to kick the ball strongly enough into the box. I'm not impressed yet even though he may develop.

Scarlett looks Another in a long line of youngsters who looks like he is trying to hard to make a breakthrough, not sure why that keeps happening in comparison to other teams in developing youngsters.

I'm yet to see a younger player come through that has looked like one who can step up since Harry. Concerning for our youth development and I think there needs some much needed investment

Lo celso agreed struggled until matched with players of decent calibre

Still look individuals pushed together

Definitely a better performance today and the formation change made a difference. Glad that Alli was dropped. Romero and Royal looked decent and Kane looked better than he has been recently and should've scored.
Report FIGJAM October 4, 2021 1:55 PM BST
Villa trying to look like Stoke with 6/7 long throws into penalty area were very disappointing considering
they'd beaten Everton and Man U.

Complete sea change as far was we were concerned with the emphasis on picking the right team rather than tactics.
Royal and Romero starting to settle in which was encouraging,we looked back to our selves with some nice football, and
even Reguilon played ok.
Pity the international break will stop the flow.
No Sanchez, Winks or Dele although I fear the latter is a victim of playing out of position.
The team apart from NDombele were great but the latter doesn't look atmo to me to be a PL player.
He wants too much time on the ball and has been sussed by the world and his wife.
First time this season that we might have a chance at top 4.

And he'd be a huge improvement on anybody we've currently got taking set plays. But as he's not Italian or South American, not much chance of our current recruitment team going after him.
Report sofaking October 11, 2021 8:29 PM BST
Not a great time to be playing Newcastle. The crowd will be massively pumped up and the players will be very keen to impress whoever the new regime install as manager. Most likely all the South Americans will miss this game too due to Convid 1984 quarantining.Angry

Apart from scoring 3 goals against tin pot opposition, Arry's had loads of opprobrium regarding
his performances for Spurs. He was in the same vein last night for England so he's at least consistent
in his inconstancies.
He's out of form, it happens, I guess we have to live with it until it changes.

Ha, Kane can't wait around for four or five years for the Newcastle billions to finally reap their rewards. Only the biggest mercenaries in world football will join that project.   Son and Gil have a dose of the 'rona and will miss three games probably. And I doubt any of the South Americans will be rested enough to take part tomorrow.
