Even if we lose to Villa, sacking nuno makes no sense.

Weve got the conference league, Mura of slovenia midweek. Which will be a bit of a headache as regards planning for the weekend fixture.
Despite the attitude of the players, there is a spurs xi among the current squad capable of winning both these games.
Its up to Nuno to do that.
He is going to need time to realise what players can do this for him.
What has to end is this talk of playing attacking football.
we played chelsea and arsenal with teams set up to attack. Funny how setting up the team to WIN brought the right result v City.
Set up the team to play nice football in slovenia. Set them up to win v Villa.

Spurs under nuno is a bottom 6 team.

I've watched the defending against arsenal again. It is so bad it is quite something. I mean all 3 goals they're all over the place, it is beyond pathetic, these are professional footballers, they didn't follow the same instructions as a team, they look like they aren't getting the correct instructions, literally all over the place. Every single team in Europe could look good against that performance, they really didn't carry out any plan.

What was the thinking behind nuno?

2yrs on contract, no an attacking coach, free of charge and unlikely to demand transfers as grateful of the chance to manage one of the biggest revenues in Europe

Backfired badly this one Levy... Time for change at the top

Thelarps u do realise spurs was lucky to get the win agst City. If they wasn't rusty from summer break it would've been 3 or 4 after 20 mins, they literally was toying with spurs for 20 mins. The win agst City and Wolves was two of the most undeserved wins in the lfe this season.

Go back to playing winks, skipp and Hojiberg again and we will be lucky to create more then 4 chances or have more then a shot on goal. We're bottom on in the bottom 3 on most stats. It's beyond worrying

THe hardest thing to do in football is to score a goal Tone.
Spurs beat city because  our mindset was to keep them out. There was no Aguero, no Kane ha ha, thats their problem. We rode the initial storm and if memory serves we rarely looked in trouble after.

There are not 19 other teams in the epl of the calibre of Barcelona under Pep. Most of them are bang average. 50 per cent of the time our opponents are going to be in as bad a run of form as we are. What you dont do in that situation is set up to give them space on the counter. Like Nuno has done the last twice v our nearest and dearest.
He has been egged on by the supposed Tottenham tradition of attacking football. Nuts to that.
We dont have Poch, we dont have a young buccaneering team like we did 5 or 6 years ago..

What we do have is a fairly good squad of footballers. Miles off the champions league admittedly. But what this season has to be about is managing the fixture list.
Playing Villa, a team in better form than us, we set up like we did v City. 3 forwards, 8 defenders and we let them have the ball and we do them on the counter. Kane and Dele can go midweek to slovenia and fill their boots. And sit on the bench sunday.

I am sorry if this offends the sensibilities of tottenham media mouthpieces like Danny Kelly but that is where we find ourselves at the moment.

Ask yourself what did the great teams of english football do when they won their european cups, faced with awkward opponents? The Liverpools, the Forest, the VIlla, Utd, Chelsea?
Did they turn up at the nou camp and go toe to toe as the tottenham tradition demands?
Or were they well organised and play on the counter?

Nuno is a defensive coach. He knows what to do. Just let him do it and we will be fine.

Losing 3 London derbies is a recipe for the sack, I think Mason will be in before Christmas,
which leaves us back to square one. So many fans  having a go at Arry but don't forget Sonny is not getting any service either.
I can't remember who's watch it was on that signed Lo Celso and NDembele, I'm almost certain it
was Pochetino, however the damage was done when in a summer window no one was added to the squad.
Both the midfielders mentioned are luxuries we can't afford, and thereby lies one of the problems.
The centre backs are worse, although we do have Romero and Rodon, so there is hope.
We need to replace the left back I'm clinging to the fact we have the always injured Sessegnon who might be an answer.
We played long ball against Arsenal, we got caught out by a tactical change at half-time against Chelsea
I dare say the sending off didn't help against Palace, but Nono was clueless with the revised situation.
We need an inspirational manager, someone like Arry Redknapp, but there's not many around.
The squad ain't going to be replaced overnight hence that's the only solution.
As an Arsenal fan said to me "You didn't turn up" that is a sackable offence, and the sooner Nono goes the better.

At wolves he got them out the championship in a make or break season,
During three seasons in the prem he has beaten Pep three times, Chelsea twice, Utd twice and ko'd Liv from the cup.

He has already proved he still has the nous by seeing off City, again, with us.

Surely its way too early to write him off, while he is still working out his squad.

A reappointment of mr H Redknapp would be admittedly, ahem..., interesting. But it would come with the sort of pay packet that only the likes of jeff bezos or elon musk would understand. I found the history (if you can call it that) of Mura interesting. What a game for them to be involved in, which (I guess) is the beauty of the Conference League. I never quite grasped that fact until last night.

...and on the subject of last night, I think we all saw just how poor some of our players are. From the starting line up...

Gollini; does not fill me with any confidence whatsoever
Doherty; has now proven, beyond any reasonable doubt, guilty of impersonating a footballer
Rodon; is a player I feel will improve, over time. His composure is up there with the best, but can be a little too self-assured at times.
Romero; not yet convinced, but will reserve judgement
Reguilon; probably the best starter, but was lost with the clowns around him
Alli; has lost his way and needs to find another club, didn't impress me at all last night. He should have been controlling the game.
Skipp; I'm not his biggest fan and I think that Spurs are too big for him, but he done ok against these minnows to be fair
Winks; Spurs has always been to big for him imo and last night cemented that view
Lo Celso; good goal but also useless without decent players around him, but once they came on he was a different player altogether. Definite starter this weekend. Has to be.
Gil; I missed a game a few weeks back where he was being lauded in the press, but I'm yet to see it. Tried hard but no end product.
Scarlett; sorry son, but you're not ready for the first team, not yet anyway.

Kind of disappointing that they had to bring on the big guns to finish this pub team off.  Alli was useless as usual and Scarlett is definitely not ready. Pretty bad performance all round after they went 2-0 till Kane, Son and Moura came on to rescue the situation.  Villa will certainly fancy their chances on Sunday.

Goalie can't make a judgement or the defence based on that performance against that level of opposition.

Midfield - winks was tidy but literally that constitutes to being able to pass nicely in triangular spaces!! Skipp is lost in there with teammates whom struggle to press.

Dele tried to carry that midfield and attack as the senior player, but he lacks the ability to press and win the ball back that made him so good in Poch team that squeezed up, dele is no longer deployed or in a team that suited what he did well.

Gill has no left foot it seemed to me and looks like he isn't strong to kick the ball strongly enough into the box. I'm not impressed yet even though he may develop.

Scarlett looks Another in a long line of youngsters who looks like he is trying to hard to make a breakthrough, not sure why that keeps happening in comparison to other teams in developing youngsters.

I'm yet to see a younger player come through that has looked like one who can step up since Harry. Concerning for our youth development and I think there needs some much needed investment

Lo celso agreed struggled until matched with players of decent calibre

Still look individuals pushed together

Villa trying to look like Stoke with 6/7 long throws into penalty area were very disappointing considering
they'd beaten Everton and Man U.

Complete sea change as far was we were concerned with the emphasis on picking the right team rather than tactics.
Royal and Romero starting to settle in which was encouraging,we looked back to our selves with some nice football, and
even Reguilon played ok.
Pity the international break will stop the flow.
No Sanchez, Winks or Dele although I fear the latter is a victim of playing out of position.
The team apart from NDombele were great but the latter doesn't look atmo to me to be a PL player.

Newcastle aren't a team to gauge against. Steve Bruce clearly looked upset before the game had started, he knows his fate and quite frankly must feel pretty worthless that with Money they wouldn't give him a chance, that will be him for the top flight now I think!!

Spurs still managed to make Newcastle look great for 15 Minutes, I mean that was a very slow start and no running again on closing down, the Gap between the defense and forward line was huge!! Those in the middle dropped deep again allowing a lot of room, however then Newcastle kept pushing forward, spurs had so much space as they found a team tactically more inept then themselves. Moura dropped in the 10 role an Ndombele played wide, that seemed to work better and credit Nuno he changed that after 10 minutes. N'Dombele is a player, but still wouldnt be in my side against any of the top 8-9 teams in the league.

It was better but still so much work to do, especially that we should of scored six or seven, but they just dont know how to be clinical and rutherless, City would've scored 5 or 6 today against Newcastle, Chelsea, Liverpool as well. We're 7th or 8th best in this league, next game against the spammers will be a better match to judge

At one point I thought we was going to be the only team to have lost to palace and Newcastle!! two of the bottom six sides
Report jed.davison October 18, 2021 11:02 AM BST
Curiously, despite the fans not liking him, Bruce's stock can only have risen within the game from his time at Newcastle. He hasn't exactly made the proverbial silk purse out of that rabble but he's kept them up when they are essentially useless - last season especially when ASM and CW have missed long stretches of the season. He's kept his counsel throughout, and he's just got on with his job.

I'm still seething about the team he picked at Palace and the way they played, and how they performed at Arsenal, but they've shown a bit more the last couple of games - I feared the worst after a minute yesterday having thought we'd win easily and in the end it was pretty comfortable.

Ndombele I guess will always be one we argue about, but again he's doing a bit more and a bit more often to think that giving him a dozen straight games might be worth some of the frustration.

Eight games in only the Nazis have won more games than us and it looks already like anyone could finish fourth unless OGS goes.
