To be honest I'm more on Jones's side on this. I get the "fans pay a small fortune to support the club" but let's not mistake that for any kind of "we pay your wages" nonsense. Just isn't the case any more. And the fact is, with the advent of social media the players all see and hear what the fans are saying about them. Given the vast majority of those views are that he's crap, lazy, stealing a living etc and that probably jarrs against his own experience of how hard he's always had to work to get fit again after injuries only to break down again. All very well saying he's set for life. But as a young man he was being compared to Duncan Edwards. Seems a lifetime ago now, but Utd had to fend off Liverpool for his signature. He was the hottest property in the game. Someone who could be an all time great, sure to win 100 caps etc etc. Imagine how bittersweet it must be in his boots knowing that wasn't fulfilled and having fans, without any knowledge of his sacrifices and struggles, calling him out for it. Dunno man, I'd be hiring a plane over OT telling them to f*ck off.
