Every goal a set piece or a pen awarded from a foul at a set piece.

Sweden not gonna be phased by this.

It is very worrying.

I mentioned the set piece thing on another thread this morning. However if I was an England fan I would look at this as a positive, unless Sweden get their two biggest guys to mark Kane and Maguire. Not that long ago Kane was taking the corners.

Well done England but have to agree created nothing against a pretty poor side. That has to be worrying.
Report roache July 3, 2018 10:22 PM BST
We created 1 gilt edged chance when Deli Ali headed it over the bar to put us 2 up ,a shockingly bad header with the goal at his mercy, Sweden are no turnips and i see it as a 50/50 shot as this is the team who kept out the mighty Italy over 2 legs a feat that England would never have accomplished, still it could have been worse it could have been Brazil.

Given the number of penalties being dished out in this tournament, that isn't such a terrible thing.
Report lewisham ranger July 3, 2018 10:26 PM BST
in our defence it was a very tight pitch tonight... colombia defended very well. hoping that the final matches we get more space and show what we can really do... maybe that was our bad performance?

We don't have any creative midfielders. But when they do create something, look out...............

says it all really that harry kane hasn't had a clear cut in open play in 2 and a half games. could stumble our way to the final i suppose but will have to be miles better

makes you laugh when the likes of Jonathon pearce banging on about the rest of the world leaving the germans behind, Germany created 22 chances against mexico,s best performance in the world cup, compared to brazil having 5 or 6, and the likes of England, croatia, sweeden etc bungling their way through the draw to a possible final place ,imo the world cup is now just a composite version of the ch lg,with 90% of the players on view playing in europe

Report mafeking July 4, 2018 2:03 PM BST
they might have had 22 attempts at goal but hardly any good chances
Report DirkDiggler July 4, 2018 2:11 PM BST
Some people don't the difference between a created chance and hitting it from 30 yards out only to have the keeper throw his cap on it.
Report JC1326 July 4, 2018 2:19 PM BST
Honestly wouldn't give a toss if we drew every game 0-0 from now on if we keep getting through
Report 1st time poster July 4, 2018 2:44 PM BST
didn't say they were good or bad chances but 22 against mexico in the context of this world cup where pens, set pieces have ruled the roost hardly suggests Germany need to rip up their football blue print as Jonathon pearce suggested, THE REST OF THE WORLD HAS LEFT THEM BEHIND ,AND FOOTBALLS MOVED ON
Report DirkDiggler July 4, 2018 2:46 PM BST
Well that is Jonathon Pearce.

I think we will create more chances Saturday. Early goal and it should be over.

Sweden came through their group of death...Holland and France. Finished above the Dutch with a  far superior goal difference.

They then beat Italy in a 2 legged play off. They then came through another group of death in Russia. Beat Mexico 3-0 despite having 33% possession. Beat S Korea 1-0.

We're certainly the right side of the draw but a loss to Sweden would not surprise. Still gutted he didn't take Wilshere for something different 30 yards out and Carroll for those desperate last moments that have come and will come again. Fellaini changed it for Belgium.

We have noone on the bench who's different. We are very, very average but we're still in.
Report roache July 4, 2018 8:18 PM BST
I agree with Carroll as when you are going gung ho  in last 10 mins to save a game it is always worth having something different with aerial power.
