Newcastle United has issued important event information to ensure spectators enjoy this Saturday's open-top bus parade and open-air event safely.

The club's first team players and staff will be bringing the Carabao Cup trophy to the streets of Newcastle city centre on Saturday 29th March before a spectacular open-air event on the Town Moor.

The Magpies' historic Carabao Cup victory at Wembley earlier this month secured the club's first silverware since the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1969, and the club’s first domestic trophy for 70 years.

Those with tickets for the event at the Town Moor are encouraged to go directly to the Town Moor site, where the parade will be streamed live on large screens, rather than the parade route.

Newcastle United has worked closely with its city partners to organise the highly anticipated parade and event, with significant support from organisations including the Freemen of Newcastle, Newcastle City Council, the North East Combined Authority, NE1, Northumbria Police, North East Ambulance Service and Nexus.

As part of the event, primary partner Sela will end the celebrations with a spectacular show, whilst the Club’s delivery partner, InPost, will support throughout the day. .

EVENT TIMELINE

1:30pm: Town Moor site opens

2pm: Carabao Cup Final replay (Town Moor)

4pm: Main Stage entertainment starts (Town Moor)

4:30pm: Bus parade begins (St. James' Park)

5pm: Bus parade arrives at the Town Moor

5pm: Q&A with legends

6:35pm: Players on stage

7pm: Sela Spectacular Surprise

7:30pm: Event finishes

THE PARADE

Newcastle United's first team players and staff will parade the Carabao Cup trophy from an open-top bus.

The parade convoy will depart from St. James' Park at approximately 4:30pm on Saturday before travelling past STACK and east along Gallowgate.

The convoy will turn left onto Percy Street, proceed past Haymarket and travel onto the Great North Road (B1318), before arriving at the event site at approximately 5pm.

The safety of all attendees is of paramount importance. Road closures and parking restrictions are in place accordingly, and the convoy will have a significant police and stewarding presence.

Spectators are asked to follow all instructions to ensure the safe passage of the vehicles, and to avoid climbing any structures or street furniture to avoid both injury and damage to infrastructure.

TICKET DOWNLOAD

All supporters planning to attend the Town Moor event should download their tickets before setting off to the Town Moor.

CARABAO CUP WINNERS EVENT

The parade will end at the site of a special Carabao Cup Winners event held by Newcastle United and organised in collaboration with city partners.

The event will be set around a large main stage on the Town Moor, adjacent to the Great North Road.

Supporters were previously asked to register their interest in attending, and those who did so will be issued a ticket via email ahead of the event.

Stewards in high-visibility clothing will be in attendance to provide event support.

CASHLESS EVENT

Food, drink and retail outlets at the Town Moor will accept card and contactless payments only. This is a cashless event.

PERMITTED / BANNED ITEMS

Please note that this is a family event. Supporters will be able to bring their own food and non-alcoholic drinks. Daysack-sized bags (roughly A4) will be allowed on site but will be subject to security checks.

Please note the following are not permitted on site:

- Alcohol

- Chairs/camping equipment

- Flags

- Pyrotechnics / flares

- Drones

- Pets

Please note that due to planned aerial activity in relation to the emergency services, crowd management and run-of-show, drones and pyrotechnics are strictly prohibited at or around the event site between 9am and 10pm on Saturday. There is an official air space restriction in place – authorised by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

ROAD CLOSURES AND PARKING RESTRICTIONS

Please note that there is no parking available at the Town Moor.

A full list of related road closures and parking restrictions can be found HERE.

TRAVEL & TRANSPORT

The parade and Town Moor event will have significant impact on the region’s transport network on Saturday 29th March All public transport is expected to be very busy all day.

Those using public transport across Newcastle upon Tyne and surrounding areas on Saturday are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance, expect queues before and after the event and anticipate diversions where roads are closed.

Event attendees are encouraged to walk to and from the event site where possible.

For full transport information relating to Metro and bus services, including information on stations close to the Town Moor site, please visit

DISABLED SUPPORTERS

A limited number of spaces available for wheelchair users are now fully subscribed.

For further information, please email disabilitysupport@nufc.co.uk.

ACCESSIBILITY

Please note that there will be flashing lights from the stage production at the event and camera flashes during the event.

Spectators who are sensitive to bright or flashing lights should take appropriate precautions.

A British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter will be communicating audio from the Main Stage via on-site screens.

SAFEGUARDING

Newcastle United will have a visible stewarding presence across the Town Moor event site, supported by the club’s Safeguarding and Welfare team.

Along the parade, there will be designated safeguarding stewards, supported by a team of Newcastle City Council staff. Clear procedures for dealing with safeguarding issues are in place.

At the Town Moor, Newcastle United will deploy its own team of Wellbeing Officers whose role will be to manage any safeguarding issues, as well as hand out wristbands and provide general welfare advice and support. There will be three welfare tents on the site which will act as 'lost child' points and somewhere attendees can access general welfare support, including water and phone charging facilities.

Attendees with safeguarding concerns can also raise them with their nearest steward who will alert the Wellbeing team accordingly.

The club is also operating a 'child safety' wristband scheme on the day, designed to help event staff re-unite lost children with parents and carers should they become separated. Wristbands can be obtained from the Gate, Eldon Square, Haymarket, St Thomas' Church Haymarket, Monumnet Metro, Central Metro, Haymarket Bus Station, Greggs Gallowgate, Costa Gallowgate, Central Station and St James' Stack.

FAQs

A list of FAQs can be found HERE and supporters are encouraged to check the club’s social media accounts and website for any further updates.

We are pleased to announce that our men's first team will travel to Singapore this summer as part of our pre-season preparations for 2025/26.

Eddie Howe and the squad will head to Southeast Asia to take part in Singapore's Festival of Football tournament, facing Premier League rivals Arsenal at the 55,000-capacity Singapore National Stadium.

Our match with the Gunners will take place on Sunday, 27th July, with kick-off time to be confirmed shortly.

Our trip, which will form part of an overseas tour this July and August, is our first time back in Singapore for 29 years.

Back in the summer of 1996, Kevin Keegan's Entertainers wowed a 50,000 crowd at the old National Stadium with a 5-0 win over Singapore's 'S-League All Stars'. New world-record signing Alan Shearer was even presented to the crowd before kick-off.

'THE RIGHT CHALLENGES'

"Pre-season is all about setting the right challenges to ensure we are ready for the new season," said Eddie Howe. "So we're pleased to be playing against high-calibre opposition in an iconic stadium.

"Having Singapore as part of our pre-season will provide a special experience for supporters in Asia, and we're looking forward to seeing them and playing in front of them in July."

'AN EXCITING MARKET'

Meanwhile, Peter Silverstone, Chief Commercial Officer at Newcastle United, outlined the opportunities for the club to make an impression in the region.

"This will be one of the standout pre-season matches taking place anywhere in Asia this summer," Silverstone said.

"The National Stadium in Singapore is a magnificent setting and we're expecting a packed stadium given the love for the Premier League and for both clubs that exists across Asia.

"On the pitch, the team will have access to elite facilities, while off the pitch we have another wonderful opportunity to meet and engage with our supporters and partners in an exciting market.

"We want to thank the tour promoter TEG and the Singapore Tourism Board for inviting the club to be part of the Festival of Football."

Tickets for the Singapore Festival of Football 2025 will go on sale on at 12pm SST (7pm BST) on Friday, 25th April 2025, with full details of how to buy coming soon.

We will bring you more on our overseas and domestic pre-season fixtures over the coming months.

Newcastle United will be unchanged for a fifth successive game on Sunday - but Anthony Gordon is fit enough to return to the bench for the clash with Manchester United at St. James' Park (kick-off 4:30pm BST).

With head coach Eddie Howe missing the match through illness, Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones will lead the team at St. James' Park, with Gordon back in the Magpies squad following the knock he picked up on international duty last month.

Nick Pope remains in goal for the visit of Ruben Amorim's men, with Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schär, Dan Burn and Tino Livramento forming a back four.

Sandro Tonali anchors United's three-man midfield, with captain Bruno Guimarães and Joelinton either side of the Italian playmaker.

And Harvey Barnes holds on to his place on the left side of the hosts' attack despite Gordon's return to fitness, with Jacob Murphy and Alexander Isak completing the frontline.

Joe Willock misses out once again as United observe concussion protocols, while youngster Sean Neave is among the substitutes again along with fellow forwards Will Osula, Callum Wilson and Gordon.

Emil Krafth and Matt Targett provide defensive cover, with Sean Longstaff and Lewis Miley the midfield backup. Martin Dúbravka is the substitute goalkeeper.

Newcastle United: Nick Pope; Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schär, Dan Burn, Tino Livramento; Bruno Guimarães, Sandro Tonali, Joelinton; Jacob Murphy, Alexander Isak, Harvey Barnes.

Substitutes: Martin Dúbravka, Emil Krafth, Matt Targett, Sean Longstaff, Lewis Miley, Anthony Gordon, Will Osula, Sean Neave, Callum Wilson.

Newcastle United can announce that Eddie Howe is recovering in hospital after being diagnosed with pneumonia.

The club continues to extend its best wishes and support to Eddie and his family as he continues his recovery.

Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones will lead the team against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa this week, with further updates to be communicated in due course.

Eddie said: "A huge thank you to everyone connected with Newcastle United and the wider football community for your messages and warm wishes. They have meant a lot to me and my family.

"I also want to pay tribute to our incredible NHS and the hospital staff who have treated me. I'm immensely grateful for the specialist care I'm receiving and, after a period of recovery, I look forward to being back as soon as possible."

We've submitted plans to extend our current first team Training Centre as work to identify a new site for a future training facility continues.

The redevelopment proposals look to build upon the significant work we've carried out at our Darsley Park site in recent years, helping to deliver elite performance facilities for our players and staff.

Planning permission has been submitted for 1,350 square metres of necessary new-build accommodation, focusing on new office and meeting space and additional support facilities.

In turn, the existing building will be reconfigured to provide further treatment spaces and staff support areas, alongside improved front of house facilities and an enlarged players' lounge.

The site is currently occupied by 140 personnel. Staff and visitor numbers to the site will remain unchanged following the extension.

The proposal improves space planning, and provides enhanced facilities by enabling the removal of low quality temporary buildings.

The site area includes revised car parking to the north and west perimeter of the extension, with pedestrian access into the office, media and storage spaces.

Accessible parking spaces have been provided along the north of the extension in close proximity to the main entrance.

Photovoltaics (PV) have been combined on the roof of the new extension and areas of existing roof to offset electrical loads on the site.

If approved, work is expected to be completed in summer 2026.

For the seventh game in succession, Newcastle United will field an unchanged side for their Premier League game at Aston Villa on Saturday (kick-off 5:30pm BST).

The Magpies - who will again be led by Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones in the absence of Eddie Howe, who continues his recovery from illness - have been on a superb winning run which has seen them win their last six games.

They were unchanged for those six matches and will now go in search of a seventh straight victory at Villa with no alterations to their line-up, meaning Nick Pope continues in goal behind a back four of Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schär, Dan Burn and Tino Livramento.

Sandro Tonali is in midfield alongside captain Bruno Guimarães and Joelinton, while further forward the in-form wingers Jacob Murphy and Harvey Barnes will provide support for frontman Alexander Isak.

There are plenty of attacking options on the bench, with Anthony Gordon, Callum Wilson and Will Osula all named, with midfield triumvirate Sean Longstaff, Lewis Miley and Joe Willock also included.

Emil Krafth and Matt Targett provide defensive backup, while Martin Dúbravka is the substitute goalkeeper.

Newcastle United: Nick Pope; Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schär, Dan Burn, Tino Livramento; Bruno Guimarães, Sandro Tonali, Joelinton; Jacob Murphy, Alexander Isak, Harvey Barnes.

Joe Willock starts for Newcastle United ahead of Saturday's Premier League visit of Ipswich Town, with head coach Eddie Howe returning to the dugout (kick-off 3pm BST).

The Magpies host the Tractor Boys at St. James' Park, targeting a fifth consecutive league win on home soil, and Howe has made one change from the side which suffered a 4-1 away defeat against Aston Villa last weekend as Joe Willock replaces Joelinton, who is missing from today's encounter with a knee injury.

Nick Pope, who began his career at Ipswich's Academy, continues in-between the sticks behind a four-man defence involving Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schär, Dan Burn and Tino Livramento.

Bruno Guimarães, who will make his 150th appearance for the Magpies this afternoon, is situated in the middle of the park alongside Sandro Tonali and Willock while Jacob Murphy, on target in United's 4-0 away win against Ipswich in December, and Harvey Barnes will aim to provide attacking support for Alexander Isak, who netted a hat-trick in the reverse fixture at Portman Road.

Sven Botman is named in a Premier League matchday squad for the first time since January, with the Dutch defender amongst the substitutes, while Howe has a number of attacking options to deploy if required, including Anthony Gordon, William Osula and Callum Wilson, with the latter one goal shy of a half-century for the Magpies.

Sean Longstaff, Lewis Miley and Emil Krafth are also named on the bench while Martin Dúbravka, who kept a clean sheet in December's win against the Blues, and John Ruddy are the substitute goalkeepers.

Newcastle United: Nick Pope, Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schär, Dan Burn, Tino Livramento, Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimarães (c), Joe Willock, Jacob Murphy, Harvey Barnes, Alexander Isak.

Substitutes: Martin Dúbravka, John Ruddy, Emil Krafth, Sven Botman, Sean Longstaff, Lewis Miley, Anthony Gordon, Callum Wilson, William Osula.

Thought Burn was a lucky lad not to get a booking in the 1st half as well; all in all; a hard earned point

Our match at Celtic Park will see the current English and Scottish League Cup holders competing for the first ever adidas Trophy, with both clubs proudly partnering the global sportswear brand.

Kicking off at 3.00pm on Saturday 19 July, we'll be backed by 7,200 away fans. Tickets will initially be available to season ticket holders with 35+ away points from 2.00pm today via book.newcastleunited.com.

"Travelling to Glasgow, to face Celtic, is a great opportunity to test ourselves as we gear up for Premier League and European football next season," said Eddie Howe.

"We'll face a top team at an historic ground, with a big away crowd there to support us."

Our last pre-season match at Celtic Park was under Sir Bobby Robson in 2004. Back on Tyneside, Celtic were our guests for Alan Shearer's testimonial match on Tyneside in 2006, and we met for a pre-season fixture the following summer at St. James' Park.

We last visited Glasgow in summer 2023, beating Rangers 2-1 in front of a capacity crowd at Ibrox before travelling to the United States for the Premier League Summer Series.

This time around, the Magpies will return home from Glasgow to prepare for the Singapore Festival of Football in Southeast Asia, where we will face Arsenal on Sunday 27 July. More pre-season fixture news will be announced soon.

As our club grows on the global stage, the symbol that represents us needs to be able to keep pace. It needs to show up clearly and confidently across everything - from kits to screens to merchandise.

So we've been asking ourselves: how well does our current crest represent the club today? And how well will it serve us tomorrow?

It's time to update our crest

This isn't a decision we take lightly. We love our crest. It's iconic and has stood us through unforgettable triumphs and testing times. But it was created in a different era. Its intricate design doesn't always translate well in today's digital world. And it's difficult to reproduce it clearly and consistently.

As football and the world changes, so too must the symbol that unites us.

That's why we're coming to you

This isn't about walking away from our past. It's about carrying it forward with pride. The crest is part of our story. It's on our shirts and inked in our skin. It deserves thoughtful evolution - shaped by the voices of the people who love it.

Tell us what matters most

Based on what we've heard, updates to the current club crest should be minimal and therefore Refine & Revive is our recommended approach. We've spoken to our Fan Advisory Board, now we want to hear from you. What should stay the same? What needs to be updated? And how can we embrace our history - not just by honouring it, but by preserving its spirit and building on it, so we can thrive in the years ahead?

We're inviting Season Ticket holders and Members to share their views in an independently ran survey. A link to that survey will be emailed directly to those fans. The cut off is 5pm on Friday 16th May!

Want to hear more?

Want to hear more? We will be holding a fan consultation workshop for Season Ticket Holders and Members on Wednesday 14th May, both in person at St. James' Park and online, to provide more detail on why we're undergoing this process and offer you an opportunity to share your thoughts. A link will be supplied to register your interest to this event in the same email.

What happens after the survey closes?

The Fan Advisory Board have recommended that the wider fan base should be given a choice of options to select from during the second stage consultation. This second stage will be delivered via a separate survey, dates to follow.

*an independent third party, Savanta, will be collecting your responses, and sharing the results with us.

Just watched the pre match interview and found it very interesting. A couple of players have had issues this week with injuries but Eddie keeping his cards close to his chest wouldn't say who ? Personally I would give Jacob Murphy a rest and Play Gordon on the left and Barnes on the right; strange time to kick off on Sunday 12.00.

Newcastle United fans attending the Premier League clash against Chelsea on Sunday are being offered a free drink at St. James’ Park.

The gesture has been organised by the club to thank fans for their support - which has seen St. James’ Park sell out throughout the season - while ensuring that the crowd is in full voice for the early kick-off as the Magpies battle for UEFA Champions League qualification.

Fans should claim their complimentary drinks token when passing through the turnstiles between 10am-11am on Sunday, with the voucher remaining valid until 11:30am.

Tokens can then be redeemed for a free pint/bottle of beer or cider, or a bottled soft drink - available across the concourse, Platinum Club and Bar 1892.

Newcastle United’s CEO, Darren Eales, commented: “We greatly appreciate the lengths that fans have gone to this season, travelling to every corner of the country to back the club, so we’re pleased to offer a token of appreciation for their loyalty and support this weekend.

“Alongside toasting the incredible support they have already shown, the offer of a free drink aims to ensure that everyone is in position for the early kick-off on Sunday, bringing that iconic St. James’ Park atmosphere from the warm-ups to the final whistle.”

Free drink offer details

· One token per person should be collected when passing through turnstiles
Vouchers may only be redeemed before 11.30am on matchday (11 May)
Alcoholic drinks can only be claimed by individuals aged 18+
Products are subject to availability

Sven Botman will make his first Premier League start since January as Newcastle United take on Chelsea at St. James' Park (kick-off 12 noon)

The Dutch defender underwent surgery on a knee problem in March but, having made appearances from the bench in each of the Magpies' last two games, comes into the starting XI to face the Blues.

Anthony Gordon is also in from the start, with Kieran Trippier and Joe Willock coming out of the team which drew at Brighton last weekend. Trippier misses out with a calf injury while Willock has a knee complaint, although both are minor.

Meanwhile, Jamaal Lascelles is named among the substitutes. It's his first time in a matchday squad since he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury against West Ham in March 2024.

Lascelles scored in this fixture last season, as Newcastle ran out 4-1 winners in November 2023. Gordon and Alexander Isak were also on target that day, alongside Joelinton who misses out through injury. The Magpies have won both of their home Premier League matches against Chelsea under Eddie Howe, and also beat the Blues on Tyneside in the Carabao Cup in October.

The two teams go into the match level on points, but with United in fourth and Chelsea a place below due to Howe's side scoring more goals.

Newcastle United: Nick Pope, Sven Botman, Fabian Schär, Sandro Tonali, Anthony Gordon, Harvey Barnes, Alexander Isak, Tino Livramento, Jacob Murphy, Dan Burn, Bruno Guimarães

Substitutes: Martin Dúbravka, John Ruddy, Jamaal Lascelles, Callum Wilson, Emil Krafth, William Osula, Sean Longstaff, Lewis Miley, Sean Neave

Chelsea have been punished for being the dirty team that they are; Jackson smashed him in the face before the ball had reached him; definite red card. no silliness and 3rd place beckons

They made hard work of that in the 2nd half; fair play to Chelsea for giving it a go; ref lost control of the game by not booking Chelsea players earlier for their persistent fowling

Callum Wilson will start for Newcastle United in Sunday's crucial Premier League clash with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium (kick-off 4:30pm BST).

Wilson will make just his second league start of the campaign in place of leading goalscorer Alexander Isak, who misses out with a minor groin injury, as the Magpies bid to make sure of Champions League qualification.

That enforced change is the only alteration made by head coach Eddie Howe following last weekend's win over Chelsea at St. James' Park, with former Gunner Joe Willock back on the bench following injury.

Nick Pope is in goal, with Tino Livramento, Fabian Schär, Sven Botman and Dan Burn all lining up at the back.

Sandro Tonali anchors the midfield alongside captain Bruno Guimarães, with Jacob Murphy, Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes looking to supply Wilson in attack.

Two goalkeepers - Martin Dúbravka and John Ruddy - are again named on the bench, along with Emil Krafth and Jamaal Lascelles.

Willock is back among the substitutes, with Sean Longstaff and Lewis Miley also named, with Will Osula and Sean Neave the attacking reinforcements.

Newcastle United: Nick Pope, Tino Livramento, Fabian Schär, Sven Botman, Dan Burn, Jacob Murphy, Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimarães, Harvey Barnes, Anthony Gordon, Callum Wilson.

Substitutes: Martin Dúbravka, John Ruddy, Emil Krafth, Jamaal Lascelles, Sean Longstaff, Lewis Miley, Joe Willock, Will Osula, Sean Neave.
