Afternoon all,

Thank god work is over for a day and we can look forward to some more footie on tonight. I doubt we'll have the same quality as last night. Messi is the GOAT!

I've got a few of pools on tonight. Some bankers Toon to win, Roma to win.

Have a look here:

How did everyone's bets going this evening? Overs on Toon and Roma? My pool I created looks good, I'm trying to post a photo but it's 'pending approval'. There are two legs left, Chelsea and Wolves.

I've gone Chelsea win, any doubters? For the Wolves game, gone draw or Huddersfield win. They need to win really to secure a play of place.

I've got some more pools up - https://pools.betfair.com/syndicates/join/search/brizzle

Twitter - @BrizzleBets

Any questions please ask.

I did write up more than that last reply but on my phone so for some reason it didn't post.

It went along the lines of - I'd like to start creating pools with your help,  we decide on what pool and the results then join the syndicate. If results go our way WE decide the cashout not just me. More community betting rather than the one captain.

Let me know if you're interested.

BTW - correct score pool 41% complete, could do with some more peeps joining. Playing for 70k share.

I'd be more than giggling if I won £131,000 like one user won on Sunday!! Big money. I've been doing accas and singles for years. This makes a really nice chance. Ok it's essentially an acca that gets put on but I like the social side.

Does anyone else get the feeling that Betfair have plants on the forum heavily trying to promote syndicates all of a sudden ? You are essentially buying a lottery ticket / playing an accumalator.

The kids of today wouldn't be able to answer any betting questions. They read books and programs and think they are pros

They get paid by the hour to try and promote this when we all know its there

Cine on SKECKS show us some wins you said in general bets you won a few quid

No one on here that started a sndy has ever posted a screenshot of winners when asked

It would promote their sites so much easier so this leaves me thinking they dont bet

This syndicate business sounds exciting, but it's not exciting enough for me. I'd rather watch Atletibore Madrab v Atletibore Madrab B every time.

Evening gents.

I get your skepticism. How odd, this lad has been registered since 2010 but not said anything. Well I had nothing to say until now.

The whole idea of a syndicate is getting people to join so hence me coming on here to let you know Betfair do pool betting using the Colossus Bets platform. Thought some of you might be interested.

I'm just an average Joe who decided to give pool betting ago. I've used every bookie under the sun, be it in a shop or online. Poker and Casino stuff. I generally bet on football, sometimes the golf, darts, I do the lottery. No 'software' here just my gut or stupidity.

Question for you guys, why does it take so long for photos to be vetted. I'm talking about my winning slips you've requested.

In bed! Mods should work 24/7.

I'm sure Betfair would check, they wouldn't have anything dodgy on their site. Would they?

seem to recall it coming up on general betting a few years ago about a guy getting into bother running a syndicate which eventually grew quite large.

there was a grey area whether or not they were acting as a betting agent depending on how the pools are paid out.  the cash out option on here looks a bit iffy to me, im sure BF have covered it in the small print.

sure before the pool is paid into the person paying in is choosing their own bet, as they can see all the selections and returns available, as has been said its like putting on an accumulator.  however when the cash out option is thrown in, youve then got one person deciding the second bets odds and return, without the original bettor being involved.

its illegal in the uk for 2 people standing side by side in a betting shop to pass a slip to the other person, who will then place the bet for them.  the bookmaker is under no obligation to pay out at all to anyone but the guy who physically hands it over to the cashier and its then up to the person who handed the bet over to decide how much he wants to give back to the first person who wrote the slip out in the first place.

its not just a case of ensuring people play fair, bets now are legally enforcable outwith reasonable discretion like ambiguous selections or prices, the contract is between the person handing the bet+money over and the various license holders accepting it.  the license holder has to put in place a whole load of controls, such as agreeing to the bets terms (selection, stake, odds), having all market rules displayed before the bet is placed and ensuring the person placing the bet is in control of their own actions, the bookmakers have whats called social responsibility to not take bets from people who show signs of problem gambling.

betting agents either in the uk, who have uk based customers or bet against uk licensed bookmakers have to comply wit hthe same set of regulations the bookmakers do, a betting agent needs a license to ensure they arent taking funds that have come from an illegal source or from roulette junkies gambling with credit card debt.

so if somebody running a syndicate is now deciding when to cash out on the original bet, theyre now placing a bet for somebody else, which is illegal in the uk.  theyre also spamming twitter, the betfair forum and god knows where else trying to find people to buy in to these things with no care given for social responsibility, they could be hawking their amazing 200k acca to people with mental problems or a history of gambling addiction, yet they themselves arent covered by the same licensing as the bookmakers when the bookmakers advertise bets.

all the major high street firms have to place responsible gambling notices with all their ads in shop and on twitter, they call ask you to please gamble responsibly.  now theres all these **** just spamming their pals facebooks saying please come bet with me, ive picked a winner.

maybe im wrong or my info is out of date, both highly likely but id caution anyone from handing your cash over to these things as long as the cash out option is available.

if they cash out a £100k pool for £300, then the pool goes on to have every selection win, youve no comeback against them.  same goes the other way around aswell, a £100k pool could be sitting on a £90k cash out with 5 minutes left in a game where the side youve backed is getting battered, sometimes its OK to trade out.

good post clacher

this is what I was saying on one of the other syndicate threads, it's bizarre that one person can cash out on behalf of the syndicate entrie considering that the minumum contribution from the 'captain' is 10% of a ticket, and the maximum another entrant can contribute is 50% of the ticket, if I owned half of a ticket in a big prize pool, I wouldn't want somebody with a fifth of my stake deciding when to or when not to cash  or what % to cash out out of the bet if at all.

There should be two options, one that allows cash out of a syndicate and one that doesn't so people have a choice, though as you say the legality of one person placing a bet for several others is questionable.

Easiest thing would be scrapping the cash out option entirely, best would be making it optional from the start.  Who knows it could even lead to situations whre theres actually some value there for punters, we dont know how the syndicates will evolve.

I like what betfair are trying to do even though its not for me, there isnt really a facility out there that socialises betting itself rather than just the usual chatter about the events themselves on here and other social media but its an interesting experiment.  If they really wanted to push the narrative of people working together for a single bet they should have that up and running from day one, where people buying in can talk to each other and vote.for changes or whatever.

As I see it just now its just a new way of putting on football accumulators, which nobody needs, especially when theres a total stranger out there with their finger onthe trigger waiting to make a terrible call in running.

Seems the most obvious drawback to everyone besides these 'captains' Grin

Firstly let me apologise for the 'spamming' I'm new to this forum and can see how it might of come across.

The whole reason I came on here was to tell you about the pools and syndicate betting. If it isn't for you (ignore me) but for those that want to get involved they can. Betfair want in otherwise they wouldn't run the Colossus Bets platform on here.

I want the to be comes a community betting thing, we create the slips and make te decisions. For me Twitter is a great way to quickly chat to someone about a bet. Chat about the CASHOUT at half time etc.

The stakes for the pools is small but the wins can be big. I'll post the pics now they are 'approved'
