I think there is massive arrogance in the English set up with players and management,becuase they play in the supposed "best league in the world" they have the impression they are better than everybody else,it`s happened at every major tournament since the 1990 world cup,when everyone wrote us off as dinasours

Football is not rocket science .England had no width,it was like playing in a telephone box.Klyne tried down the right but crosses were poor.Sterling on the right wing would have been a good idea.Thats the only position he can play.
i do think if we had taken andy carroll we wouldn't have had to pick the final pass to get thru, with all the possession we had we could have just put cross after cross in for the last 15 mins, not saying he would've scored but he'd have been a threat with knock downs in the box and it would have put slovakia under more direct pressure.not saying he should have been in the squad to start games but purely for the situation that arose tonight.

I partly agree, Mafe, but a few things:
Vardy and Sturridge should have come in for Kane and Sterling for me based on the first two games.
Hendo did ok, save for his final ball being wank.
As good as Walker was in the first two (and he was excellent) Clyne played really well. Looks our most competitive position.
Leaves Wheelchair who was poor and Bertrand who looked a liability.
Badly missing out and out wingers who hug the line and offer a goal threat too.
All too narrow. Even when Rooney and Alli came on every one wanted to play between the width of the 18 yard box.

with hindsight the worst of th changes was bertand for rose, rose is miles better going forward.dissapointing not to have won but england will represent favourite in the last 16 whoever they face from the potugal/ iceland group.after that you have to expect to play somebody half decent in the 1/4s and you never know who will still be in at that stage, there will be upsets in the first knockout round.
Sterling could take a man on and get a cross in...on the right no probs.

you can't make 6 changes without losing a hell of a lot. changing the full backs wasn't so bad but wilshere and henderson in midfield ? wilshere is looking more and more a horrible selection. he hasn't completed 90 minutes for arsenal since september 2014 and you can't expect him to be up to much with so little football recently. rooney may have his faults these days but he's about the only one on can put his foot on the ball and control the game

Against a "park the bus" team you need proper quality width(real wingers) not just full backs trying to get in on the action and give poor crosses and service.Also you need to get lots of shots in with all the possesion around the box.England reverted near the end to trying ambitious chips into the box.Vardy got zero service.
