very well done to the jury the rotten police off this country have plenty to answer to now.

As you say, "at last." Vindication for the victims and their families. All those who colluded in the coverup should hang their heads in shame.
R.I.P. |

Happy for the families that justice has finally been done.
A special thought for Anne Williams who simply refused to accept defeat despite the constant knock backs but who sadly never lived to see the day that an unlawful killing verdict was delivered re the death of her son. |

What a country we live in ..
LOOK FORWARD TO THE SUN PAPER TOMOZ U Facking arrrrrseholes |

116 police statements were altered to cover up what really happened. How many will go to prison ?
|
By:
Justice can never be served when a loved one is killed. They cannot be brought back, and thats all the people really want.

Off at a tangent for which I apologise.
Plenty celebrated when Thatcher died because of her politics and there can be no argument she was a divisive Prime Minister. For most, it was the Miners Strike that was the touchstone for their anger and the effect it had on mining communities. As sorry as I was for anyone thrown on the scrapheap the miners were lead by an utter idiot in Scargill and the Unions were out of control back then - arguably, the balance of power has now shifted too far in favour of big business and big government but that's a different debate. But the Miners strike did do one thing. It made Thatcher beholden to South Yorkshire Police and it was her and her rotten stinking corrupt government that initiated the cover up, to payback South Yorkshire Police, that has denied grieving families the justice they needed for 27 years. |

I spent a lot of the 1980's going to home and away football matches.
Going to away matches ,usually on official coaches , you got off the coach and were treated like criminals/scum until you boarded the coach to go home. It is a very sad state of affairs that it has taken 27 years for this decision , in a so called enlightened democracy. |
By:
That's my view too 626.
Being a law-abiding football fan in the 1980's was bloody horrible. Demonised, sh@t-on, lumped together under the collective banner of 'hooligans', shoved and kicked around and put into steel cages which quickly turned into death traps. |

Police and Govt. to get away scot-free - 1.01.
Always the same in this country. RIP the 96. |
By:
correct rodger I packed it in and started going to non league football instead
|
By:
Me too - kept supporting Spurs through the 1990's !

no excuse for Liverpool’s failure to acknowledge, even to this day, the part played in the disaster by drunken fans at the back of the crowd who mindlessly tried to fight their way into the ground that Saturday afternoon. The police became a convenient scapegoat, and the Sun newspaper a whipping-boy for daring, albeit in a tasteless fashion, to hint at the wider causes of the incident.

Just a thought............Justice yes. However at the time, a lot of people who thought it was the fans who caused it, and swayed by media,
I was one, a lot of people got this wrong, not just the Scum newspaper. We were wrong, however we based what we thought on what was reported. Fast forward to today, The copper in charge is going to be hung out to dry..... a lot of people made mistakes and panicked. If anybody thought this was going to end up the way it did, actions would have been different, HINDSIGHT IS A GREAT THING. Lessons have been learned by a lot of people when it comes to football, including Police, local authorities and Stadium. So justice has finally been reached..................we have all moved on a lot, for those involved they can move forward a little, lets not look for blood............look for justice and hope we keep on learning. GOD BLESS AND HOPE ALL, WHO LOST THEIR LIVES CAN FINALLY RIP. |

So justice has finally been reached
No it hasn't, no-one has been sentenced for covering it up. |
By:
If anybody thought this was going to end up the way it did, actions would have been different
there were numerous dangerous situations at the leppings lane end, in previous years |
By:
Westender, maybe I should have made it clearer, justice needs to be done........not blood as it will not bring the dead back.
What would not be right, is one copper taking the blame for the lot. And for everyone who works or has worked, or encountered a situation that got out of hand, and thought they could cover it up, how many can honestly say they would not. And if everyone on Betfair says they would not............... does not make it right..............however just like this instance it happens. Sorry is always the hardest word. Not every Police officer that day done wrong, many tried to help. I will say again hindsight is a wonderful thing. |
By:
Hindsight is a wonderful thing - esp when one is re-writing one's report for one's senior officer when the others haven't passed the test.......

Another example of the establishment and a vile tory government aided by the Murdoch filth who vilified working class football fans and tried to blame them for the deaths of 96 people , a reminder of the lengths these diabolical liars will go to protect themselves and their interests , RIP .
|
By:
A Good friend of mine lost his life there , I am delighted for the families that they have got the justice they deserve
|
By:
as dirkdiggler has already stated justice has not yet been done.

I wonder do the families of the Italian people who lost loved ones in the Heysel Stadium feel any better today.Doubt it...

Exactly. |
By:
well done those that refused to give up and fought for this verdict
when people talk about there having to be hundreds involved in these cover ups so it cant happen ,,,,,, well it did, and finally they have been caught out ......now for the justice |
By:
'by purpose' said "I wonder do the families of the Italian people who lost loved ones in the Heysel Stadium feel any better today.Doubt it... "
That has nothing to do with what happened at Hillsborough. |
By:
Every single time I've seen a thread on Hillsbrough on here, sooner or later it moves on to Heysal
|
By:
Maybe the "murderers" flags hung over bridges on the east lancs the night the mancs got put out of Europe will not happen again.I DOUBT IT !!
MAYBE THE AWAY FLAGS UNVEILLED IN THE MANURE SECTION the same night will happen again ...OF COURSE IT FACKING WILL . |

terrible comment hide your head in shame |

Plenty celebrated the passing of Thatcher.
Many would wish she was still here to face the music. |
By:
|
By:
Does this mean they'll shut up about it now and we can bring in safe standing?
|
By:
It made Thatcher beholden to South Yorkshire Police and it was her and her rotten stinking corrupt government that initiated the cover up,
Utter tripe. |
By:
No one should die at a football match. The Police who lied and altered statements deserve to go to prison. Very surprised no blamed whatsoever was attached to any fans.
I hope this verdict is just a step along the road for the families who lost loved ones and one day they will see those guilty sent to prison. |
