it was all brazil for the 1st 7 or 8 mts - then when germany attacked for the first time brazil completely bottled it. they totally lost the plot. the defensive midfield and defence did not do their job. they froze.

Brazil are going to have the same sort of problems England have and similarly possibly for decades.  At least they do still have some players so could recover quicker.

it's difficult to say how well germany played when brazil played so poorly. i don't think germany had to do anything special to score. they just picked out easy passes to unmarked players as the brazilians stood and watched.

agree, to back them for the final on the basis of this win is clearly a big mistake. If they are not 3-0 up at 30 mins in the final they will start shaking.

The Germans like the Colombians will not be able to keep their shape or get into any rhythm. I see Brazil taking an early lead and hanging on in the end, possibly nicking a late goal on the counter in the last few minutes.

Yep been there so many times and LOST - they have picked up the bad habit of LOSING when it really matters. they're fantastic when it doesn't matter though.

Even England managed to win the World Cup on home soil and they only had one shot at it.

Neymar and Silva were the worst 2 players to lose and that obviously considerably dented their confidence and they couldn't have come up against a worst team to punish them, a very well organised Germany are they ever anything else.
Neymar was the guy doing all the work and scoring the goals before he got injured and Silva's the guy that keeps the defence together, even so that was the most embarrassing performance at this stage of the world ever, Brazil just capitulated completely they played like a pub team that were more concerned about who was getting the round in, they will get slated in the local rag tomorrow and justifiably so, the greatest world cup nation ever gives up and loses 7-1 at home ! absolute disgrace.
We will be able to judge how good the Germans are in the final and if they score 3 or 4 again then we say they are a very good side but until then Brazil are just a bunch of quitters.

Neymar and Silva missing was a red herring.  They were awful against Columbia and even worse against Mexico.  This was by far the worst Brazilian side I've seen and I said that before Neymar got injured.  During the last 10 mins against Columbia they looked like a non-league side holding on for a cup victory against Premier League opposition.

That was Yugoslavia that Beat Zaire 9-0 in the 1974 world cup
In the match a Zaire player kicked the ball down the other end of the fieldwhen it was a free kick outside their own penalty area

I feel a little disappointed.

I backed Germany to qualify at better than evens and then to win when they were 1-0 up.  I had just made up my mind to bet on outright win when Germany scored their first.

Should have gone with my initial instinct for Germany win at over 3's!  Brazil have been truly awful.  Fred and Hulk upfront were indications that this was not the Brasil of Pele or Zico and Socrates.  The German midfield is Blitzkrieg. Thiago Silva loss was more influential than Neymar.  Maicon and Marcello were accidents that did happen.  Luis was too emotional, a very good player but had an absolute shocker.  Scholari was even worse, should have played Willian and Ramires instead of Fred and Hulk from the start to give them a fighting chance in midfield.

You have to love these after-timers. Not a peep out of them before the game. Too scared to stick their neck out and make any predictions.

Apparently they all knew Brazil would get thrashed in their own ground in a World Cup semi-final. And yet the rest of the world is stunned, literally hundred's of millions of people are absolutely gobsmacked, but not betfair after-timers... oh no they knew. Presumably some of these geniuses made millions off this result.

That was correct! I did make an error in identifying Brazil as the winners of that match it was as you state Yugoslavia, this equaled the  previous World Cup match scoring record  by one team in a single match, Hungary  had beaten South Korea by the same scoreline  in the 1954 finals. This achievement stood for eight years when it was beaten by Hungary who crushed El Salvador 10-1, this remains the only time a team has reached double figures in a single World Cup match.

not being an Australian I didn't have the courage of my convictions!  To be fair I bottled it on Germany and let my own views be softened by much of the media and " expert pundit " comment. 

I took the to qualify bet as I thought even money was pretty good odds.  Semi Finals are usually tight, home advantage, hysteria and possible ref bias all lead me to being cautious on a Germany win in 90 minutes so I that the To Qualify bet was almost a free bet.  I was planning to watch how the game developed and bet on the win market for Germany at around 3.5  I lodged a bet at this price but obviously after the initial Brasil assault was weathered Germany looked supreme and it didn't get taken before the first goal.

I do agree with you about people gloating though.  I like to see people put their opinions up before a game.  A man who talks the talk and also walks the walk shouldn't be made fun of.
