a carthorse of a player

how is that not a straight red?

Ref standing 10 yards away looking straight at it

If it is as bad as it looked, Nasri could miss the World Cup

should be banned or sent to play in gibraltar league.
Report judorick January 12, 2014 4:10 PM GMT
if you did that to someone in the street you could easily be convicted of GBH

why does being on a football field exempt you?
Report wolf j flywheel January 12, 2014 4:55 PM GMT
bit over the top aint it (pun intended) he tapped his knee and the following fall and tumble caused the knee to give way imo
Report The Priest January 12, 2014 4:57 PM GMT
To be honest I thought the Ref in the second half was trying his hardest to make up to Newc for the 'goal' that he disallowed
Report Roker_Park January 12, 2014 5:15 PM GMT
A vile and cowardly tackle.

He is stealing a living parading himself as a Professional Footballer.

Mbiwa is a great example to any young kid out there wanting to become a Professional footballer when they get older.................if he can make it, theres literally hope for anyone to make it.

i'm fed up with all this 'taking one for the team' blatant fouling when a team are on the attack, would like to see it a red card offence
Report donny osmond January 12, 2014 6:21 PM GMT
yep, ferdandinho would have been off too
Report Rider January 12, 2014 6:26 PM GMT
if the deterrent was there they would be less likely do it and nasri might not be injured
Report donny osmond January 12, 2014 6:32 PM GMT
if players didnt exaggerate fouls he might not be injured
Report Rob_The_Bantam January 12, 2014 6:34 PM GMT
Donny, are you claiming that Nasri injured himself by exaggerating the foul, as opposed to Yanga-Mbiwa having a good old hack at his knee?
Report bigH January 12, 2014 6:42 PM GMT
there's either some good fishing going on or some people have no idea about football
Report donny osmond January 12, 2014 6:44 PM GMT
rob i replied to a hyperthetical with a hyperthetical

the foul was right beside us, it was a foul mym had to make because city would have been away

sounds awful but they all do it

as rider points out a potential red card may have stopped the temptation,

but it was a fairly standard foul, and a fairly standard nasri fall
Report Rob_The_Bantam January 12, 2014 6:49 PM GMT
A yes or no would have been fine, Donny Happy .

One of the few decisions the ref got right imo; seen worse go unpunished

Both pundits on MOTD2 describing it as a "blatant red".
Report donny osmond January 12, 2014 11:33 PM GMT
yes now motd has been on you can join in

You don't understand football, your own fans are taking the p1ss out of your deluded comments.

It's been an horrendous evening for you Osmond, your credibility has been shot to pieces, log off, tomorrow's another day.
Report donny osmond January 12, 2014 11:44 PM GMT
does that work for you ?
Report toffee87 January 13, 2014 8:50 AM GMT
I thought that Jonas Olsson's challenge on Adam Lallana was worse and he also only got a yellow

Both were similar challenges though in as much as both were not only trying to stop the player from getting away (which is a yellow in itself) but both challenges were also very reckless (I've certainly seen lesser challenges given Red) so for both players to only receive one yellow card for a challenge which arguably deserved a yellow and a red is a farce.

Cabaye very lucky to not get a 2nd yellow as well
Report Roker_Park January 13, 2014 4:33 PM GMT
Nasri confirms he is out for 2 month.

Clearly he was "exaggerating" .........
Report jed.davison January 13, 2014 4:39 PM GMT
Nasri's lucky, that "tackle" could clearly have been the end of his career.

Unbelievable that some people have sought to deflect blame away from the perpetrator. As usual though, the real culprits are the FA. Time after time, these gutless cowards get away with filthy tackles. No wonder they feel that it is their perfect right to carry on maiming other players.
Report zzzorro January 13, 2014 4:40 PM GMT
Although it was clearly a foul, Nasri did his usual antics and in trying to exaggerate the seriousness of the foul. injured himself more than need be. He has had it coming to him for quite a while now.
Report jed.davison January 13, 2014 4:44 PM GMT
zzzorro, you should give up watching football. The geezer has deliberately tried to hurt Nasri, with no thought of winning the ball. Nasri was a little unlucky in that Yanga-Mbiwa missed with his first couple of attempts to stop him and was so incensed he tried to hack his leg off.
Report Roker_Park January 13, 2014 4:47 PM GMT
Spot on Jed

Some people need to take up another sport, football is not for them.
Report judorick January 13, 2014 4:47 PM GMT
spot on

there was clear intent to injure the player and not the merest chance of winning the ball

for me it is worthy of criminal prosecution, being on a football field should not over ride the Law
Report zzzorro January 13, 2014 4:48 PM GMT
jed, there doesn't seem to be many watts in your bulb. Take a break dude.
Report jed.davison January 13, 2014 4:50 PM GMT
Take a break from what you muppet?

You claim that Nasri is in some way responsible for his period on the sidelines, and tell me to take a break?

The stupidity of people on this forum never ceases to amaze me.
Report zzzorro January 13, 2014 4:54 PM GMT
I agree.
Report Biscuit1979 January 13, 2014 5:44 PM GMT
The Newcastle bloke tried to get him with his left foot, missed, then tried with his right, missed, then basically took a hack with his left and chopped him down. How anyone can blame Nasri for exaggerating his own injury and causing himself more damage defies belief. Although this is the betfair forum so nothing surprises me.
