If Leicester were offered £200 million how many would want to keep him?The contract is just an insurance policy for both sides.https://community.betfair.com/football/go/thread/view/94070/30986265/mahrez---a-typical-modern-day-player?post_id=553486711#553486711Some people don't seem to realise that every player is for sale at any time its just a question of price. Only unlike Mahrez, where the Leicester owners are fighting tooth and nail to keep him, Charwell's employer gave him a piggyback to his new place of workhttps://community.betfair.com/football/go/thread/view/94070/30986265/mahrez---a-typical-modern-day-player?post_id=553484745#553484745I believe Charwell had a similar problem when a rival paper wanted him for his tipping column. If he's going to leave they'd rather he left mid-contract so that they get money in to buy a replacement.https://community.betfair.com/football/go/thread/view/94070/30986265/mahrez---a-typical-modern-day-player?post_id=553483149#553483149Most fans and clubs don't want a player to honour his contract for its entire length, that means he'll walk for nothing. He hasn't done that and has always done his best for Leicester AFAIK. Think it's a bit early for some of the comments on this thread. So it protects the club as well as the player.https://community.betfair.com/football/go/thread/view/94070/30986265/mahrez---a-typical-modern-day-player?post_id=553482407#553482407Also a long contract ensures the club get a higher transfer fee should they sell him.
