THE BDO WORLD PROFESSIONAL DARTS CHAMPIONSHIPS
After four decades of this prestigious competition residing at The Lakeside, we are excited to announce that the new home of the BDO World Professional Darts Championships is Indigo at the O2, London!
We have such fond memories and are extremely grateful to The Lakeside, especially Bob & Barbara Potter and all that have helped over the years to make the most famous darts tournament in the world, such a success.
Moving to The O2, the most popular venue in the world, is an amazing opportunity and we look forward to working with the O2 and their partners over the coming years to develop a new future for the BDO World Professional Darts Championships.
Further announcements to follow soon regarding on-sale dates and tournament/venue information.

I think that's a crying shame. Lakeside have kept the BDO going over the last several years as main sponsors. Shouldn't think the Potters are best pleased. I'm not even sure the BDO Worlds is big enough to be played at the 02. Shouldn't have a problem getting tickets.

It's not the main O2, HGS. It's 'Indigo at the O2' which is the smaller venue
Why the move then? Must be bigger. Not like frimley green a million miles from London??

Now they haven't got a permanent home that reminds everyone about their Worlds, it's over imo.
Which makes it all the more bizarre. Did Lakeside pull the plug? Can't think why they would do this otherwise.

Indeed. Reaping what they sow. They always had the nostalgia of the Lakeside. Now.....well we'll just have to see. The e-mails sent to participants are nowt short of a disgrace, please turn up but the prize fund isn't guaranteed. Shocking stuff.

I see the BBC dropped it a while back. I understand now why I'd never heard of Durrant.

In a letter sent to qualified players the BDO said it would “reduce somewhat” the prize money available for the tournaments, which begin on 4 January, “whilst still retaining a very lucrative incentive”.
The statement added that ticket sales for the event were “currently only at a total of 15% of ticket availability, and therefore the income is 85% down on [our] budget predictions”. The BDO also listed TV production costs and “previous debts incurred” – and, in addition, claimed that its brand was too “toxic” to attract new sponsorship.
“Our commercial advisers [Sportotal] have informed [us] that title or other sponsorship has been impossible to secure for the [tournaments], due mainly to the adverse publicity that the BDO has received on various aspects of social media, and that in their opinion the BDO is currently ‘toxic’,” the statement added.
It has been reported that the prize money pot has been cut from £329,000 to £150,000, with the women’s champion receiving £8,000, compared to £12,000 this year. The BDO chairman, Des Jacklin, had previously claimed that the prize fund for women would be “almost doubled” for 2020.
Wow sounds like this is the end of the whole thing

Leighton Bennett's only 25s, FFS! He's 14 years old!!
TV coverage on Eurosport and Quest. From what I gather, Quest will be showing the weekday afternoon sessions.
Looking forward to watching 15 year old Beau Greaves. She beat Leighton Bennett 4-3 in the final of the England Open Youth final commentator "we've been watching Beau yesterday and today playing absolutely wonderful darts, 30 averages (for one dart)" She's also hit a 9 darter in competition this year. I assume she was too young to enter The World Masters and World Trophy as she didn't enter either. But of the 13 women's ranking events she's played since May, she's won 9 of them, and of the 4 defeats, 3 were in the final to Lisa Ashton. Three of those were in September, which represents a dip in form, since she won all 6 ranking events she entered from May to August, beating all the top female players, in addition to the mixed youth event.
Had a look at the men's event before Xmas. Only cam eup with one bet which was Darren Herewini to beat Simon Stainton, but the odds against has gone. I thought he should've been around 1/2 to 4/6, but with players who are largely unknown like these there is a lot of guesswork.
Jim Williams is the obv fave as his draw is kind and his best recent form is probably the best recent form. Overall the standard is very average and as the World Masters and World Trophy showed, almost anyone can win

Anyone know a site that provides live scores, stats etc (like live.dartsdata.com does for the PDC)?
You took the words right out of my mouth, Danno! B365 has averages, but they didn't tally with the live.dartsdata or the on-screen scores for the PDC....
