Here we go....

The BDO Kingpin & Number 1 seed Glen Durrant is the 13/8 red hot fav to lift the trophy.

Blush "Hi Ho" Laugh will be bellowed out by darts mc Little Richard throughout the tourney in true pantomine style. Shame it's not the rock n roll legend hamming it up for one last time.

The bdo are set to lose another No1 player in what will be Glen's bdo swansong as he's pdc bound following the world champs. He kicks off proceedings against the young Welshman Kenny and has been backed like the proverbial good thing (albeit cramped odds) from 1/5 into 1/6 with the books, and 2/13 (1.16 bf) as punters fall over themselves to get on. Glen's had an exceptional run and won the majority of bdo tournies in the last 12 months, a winning pattern not too disimilar to MVG (though against a different level of opponent). He has a winning streak stretching back to september with the only losses being against RVB 7-10 (96 average) and Ando 4-5 (99 average), both in the grand slam. Glen's form is rock solid, he's part of the dynamic Team Macca stable, and stands alone at the top of the betting in what is the shortest priced bdo fav for many a year. (Who can name the last player to be so short before a dart was thrown in the bdo worlds)? He's a class above and i'm on him to be crowned BDO World Champion @ 9/4. McGeeney @ 33/1 in the opposite half of the draw. *

The Women are worthy of a mention though no one really stands out for me. Lisa's had another average season, though has a tendancy to come good over the longer sets format. Trina's shown some good form in spurts as has Anastasia. Deta's another along with Aileen. They all win and lose their fair share over the season. All the girls deserve recognition, maybe Lorraine will produce the goods? Sharon Prins could beat Lisa in the opening round. So much uncertainty in what looks an open worlds. And still no mention of Fallon! I've backed two players in the Outrights - Lisa @ 3/1 e/w (last april) and have also thrown in Corina @ 100/1 e/w.

Here's to another exciting world champs, no matter the standard. I for one will always respect my fellow arrowsmiths for having the balls to not only reach that level of play, but to step on the hallowed Lakeside stage where many greats have lifted the crown, while many have been swallowed whole. I have a feeling the forum will reach possible meltdown proportions over the next 9 days as the opening posts sway from a laughable standard, to a decent standard, to an exceptional standard. 45-26-59-41-you require 8, followed by no score-no score-no score- you require 2-you also require 2-you both still require 2, as the averages plummet to new levels of low. Yes, but they're real averages, not inflated ones. Come the final all will be waiting in anticipation for another top match. It's the inbetween that maketh the bdo worlds and all it stands for. The smoke signals are aplenty for another north east hot shot and I don't mean Gary Robson. Where is he? The forgotton man of the bdo (3-0 correct score double loss, not me guv). One Ryan Joyce @ 150/1*

Good luck to all, be it lovers of grass roots darts and the bdo worlds, or the perenial piss takers.

We can expect a lot of the favoured C4 demographic at this year's renewal.

1.01 a few Pretendy Women will be given a 'safe space' to promote themselves. Maybe another media opportunity for Frank Baloney?

lots of chatter about durrant switching to the pdc(the dark side!)but I think he`d get eaten alive,be better for him to remain in proper dart land and make quite a lot of money every year

Not bad to have a nine dart attempt in the second set of the tourney.

CH4 need to re-think the "flashing 9" for a possible 9 darter for those with photo sensitivity. Not that they'll use it too often this tourney?

Does he really make a lot of money in the BDO. Unless you win the worlds every year, there's no money to be made in the BDO.
