Has this ever been tried? I was wondering if it'd be any good as a one off.

If you had the top 128 players in a knockout tournament, and every player seeded, then you could start the lower ranked player on 501, and the higher ranked player on 501 plus however many positions higher he was.

For example, seed 1 plays seed 128. The lesser player starts on 501 and the better player on 629. Would one of the top three still win, or would the point advantage be too much?

great idea kenbo!! it should be tried as a 1 off just for the quality of the idea haha Grin

I suppose in the 1 v 128 its a 3 dart start for the player ranked 128, so a player avg 14 darts per leg for a 501 would be completing in 17

interesting set up...need to delve into the stats

1 Vs 128 would be an unlikely pairing. But as you got through the tournament, would the tenth seed have much of a disadvantage against someone fifteen places below him? 501 - 516?

my gut feeling is a match like 10 v 25 I fancy the 10 wins more but 1 v 128 I fancy the 128 does but I would want to see stats to confirm kenbo

I have to agree with you on the closer seeded players. I think MVG would probably beat the 128 seed, but someone ranked 28 might struggle to beat the 128 player.

I suspect you're probably right tbh about MVG, an average of 3 darts per leg is plenty though
