From what i've read of the last few years - Jamie has battled cancer and still throws the odd dart. He's also a really good singer. I'm hoping i captured him on my tapes from Blackpool.
Jamie Harvey - Top bloke!
An aside...I've played Jamie twice in tournys. First time was in Coventry @ The Midland Open around 1989'/1990'. I checked the draw schedule and knew if i won my 1st round match i'd play him.
I won my match and was buzzing like feck waiting for him to get to our board. I remember this sequence of events clearly...He laughed and joked with the people who'd crowded to watch like he was billy big potato. When he finally toed the oche to throw some practice darts, he then decided he wanted the board turning. He fecked about that much it affected my game, and he duly beat me 3-0. I learnt a lot from that defeat.
2nd time i played Jamie was the day after the matchplay final, at a tourny in Church, Lancashire, (then home town of Ronnie Baxter). Having played in comps around the country and won several local league comps i was primed and ready to block out his antics, totally unfazed and in the zone.
Although it wasn't the perfect 1st round draw, it didn't bother me as i played 1st for our friday super 6 team. My mind set was to play my own game and Jamie will have to play good darts to beat me.
I held my own and just lost out 3-2. Bah! I still have the scorecard he autographed for me, in a box somewhere. Cheers Jamie!
I've played against Peter manley once @ a John Raby (rip) promoted holiday park weekend event in Norfolk or Clacton-on-sea. Can't remember which.
It was a mixed doubles match. My partner was my daughter's mother, and Manley's was Deta Hedman We got hammered 2-0. Like i cared. I'd just toed the oche with the queen of darts as she was back then, and is once again.
Nobby, sorry for gate crashing the thread, i couldn't help but post a tale or two

Don't apologise, i like reading your tales and your love and passion for the game is palpable.
I met Jamie at an exhibition he did at a small social club near me. He was very good and if they ever hold a tournament where one has to throw on ones knees i'm sure he'd win!
I got talking to Bob Potter once in the Corals at Lakeside, at the time i didnt know who he was, he was going on about how he'd met Prince Charles, Duke of Edinburgh etc. I thought what a bull sh!tter, then he showed me the pictures! To cut a long story short he invited me back to the hotel into the players lounge. I sat with Deta and what a lovely lady she is. I remember thinking Colin must be mad to have let that go!
I want to get tickets for the PDC awards ceremony at the Dorchester hotel. I'm trying to get a pair off of Eddie Hearn but i don't hold my breath.

Peter Manley helped out at a charity night in our local social club in November 2011. Great guy, with his wife and son. Was on his way to the West Country the next day. Ope he is doing well.

Its unfortunate he had to bump into Taylor in the final both times, Taylor always seemed more determined to destroy him than anyone else
