Right got a bit of time to try and put something up for this evening and see what the views of others are. Lets hope we're all lucky and take a few quid off the bookies Happy

Terry Jenkins v John Part:

R1 - Jenkins bt Steve Brown 3-0
Ave: 94.31
180's: 4
HC: 60
CO %: 39%

Part bt Joe Cullen 3-0
Ave: 89.56
180's: 1
HC: 127
CO %: 56%

Opening match of the evening sees the raging bull Terry Jenkins take on the 3 time world champion John Part. Part's got his mural now so I'm not sure what he's going to use for motivation but hopefully we see a decent match. Jenks played pretty well in his opener without ever really being in a match and he's always good to watch. Part also had a relatively comfy win and will be looking for a good run here to try and climb back up the rankings. Bet I like here is the high check as Jenks and Part are 2 of my favourite players for hitting 3 figure checkouts. Part hit a 127 in his opener and while the line is slightly higher here I think this looks a fair bet.

Recommendation: 1.5pts win over 130.5 HC @ 5/6 (General)

Paul Nicholson v Robert Thornton:

R1 - Nicholson bt Co Stompe 3-0
Ave: 87.95
180's: 0
HC: 106
CO %: 47%

Thornton bt Magnus Caris 3-0
Ave: 99.06
180's: 4
HC: 150
CO %: 53%

Forum favourite Nicholson takes to the stage v one of the form players in the PDC over the past 6 months. I don't think he was that impressive in his win over Stompe but he did finish well which is usually a strong part of his game. Thornton on the other hand had the 2nd highest average of the round in only dropping 1 leg to Magnus Caris and was really impressive whilst being under very little pressure. Again the bet I like here is the high check as Thornton is capable but Nicholson often hits them due to his high quality of finishing.

Recommendation: 2pts win over 130.5 HC @ 9/10 (Boils)

Phil Taylor v Jerry Hendricks:

R1 - Taylor bt Michael Mansell 3-0
Ave: 93.92
180's: 1
HC: 76
CO %: 53%

Hendricks bt Wayne Jones 3-0
Ave: 87.5
180's: 3
HC: 156
CO %: 43%

Last match of the night sees the 15 times world champion Taylor take on the debutant Hendricks. Taylor did enough in his opening win but was never going to be flash I didn't think v an opponent who was completely outmatched. He's got a nice draw to the last 16 and he'd expect to come through this with no dramas. Hendricks looked ok in beating Jones culminating in a spectacular 156 outshot for the match but this is a significant rise in class for him and if he wins a set I think he's done well. 4-0 at odds on aint my cup of tea usually and unless something can persuade me otherwise it won't be here either.

Recommendation: No Bet

Summary: All about the big outshots for me tonight. If any of them go in its fair to say there will be a roar in Hibee Towers Happy All views and bets from the regulars are as welcome as ever and hopefully we have a good nights darts and banter on here

Well, you'd only have had a very short time to lay it before the hooverers screwed you, so probably didn't cost you a huge amount - and Thorn played so bad that if you covered him on the outright instead, he actually drifted.
Report STEPTOES YARD December 21, 2012 11:05 PM GMT
His standard dropped, his best still the best but has few more average days. Not quite as great under pressure as at peak esp on the doubles. Rest have improved too for me.

That said hes won more big tournies than anyone else again this season.

He has Hammer, then the winner of Thornton and Taylor.
