Well after a completely underwhelming opening night's action we have a double session to look forward to today. Hopefully a few bets present themself and we can start to make some money Happy

Wayne Jones v Jerry Hendricks:

Opening match of the day sees the man from Wolverhampton take on the young dutch player Hendricks. Jones has always been a fairly solid 90 average player on tv but he's had a really bad season on the floor and looks to be going one way down the rankings. He's a former semi finalist back in the day at the worlds but I'd be surprised if he has that sort of run left in him. Hendricks hasn't exactly been setting the darts world alight but he did get to the last 16 of the euros when he pushed Taylor and only lost 10-7.  I'm not massively keen on him as a player from the limited action I've seen but I do think he's got a winnable game here and at the price I'll have a small tickle on him.

Recommendation: 0.5pt win Jerry Hendricks @ 21/10 (Boils)

Daryl Gurney v Robert Marijanovic:

Prelim for this afternoon features the former BDO player Gurney up against the european qualifier Marijanovic. I actually thought Gurney had a decent action when he played at Lakeside and hopefully he can win through this as I think he could be a dangerous opponent. I know next to nothing about marijanovic in all honesty though so couldn't recommend anything. My only hope is Gurney's sister is in the crowd Grin

Recommendation: No Bet

Richie Burnett v James Hubbard:

Interesting match here between the resurgent Burnett and the world youth champ Hubbard. Burnett has shown a real return over the past year and is capable of playing some tremendous darts but is also capable of some real duff stuff. Hubbard on the other hand is a very interesting prospect and could be a future top 16 player in the coming years. Before looking at the prices I thought Hubbard was a live prospect in this match and at 11/8 I think he's worth a wager in what could be a very tight match.

Recommendation: 1pt win James Hubbard 11/8 (SBet)

Terry Jenkins v Steve Brown:

The raging bull makes his bow v Steve Brown who looked like a prospect a while back but doesn't really seem to have kicked on. Terry has never been a fan of this venue and is struggling for form too but the lack of Brown doing much this year puts me off having a bet on him. However I think this could be a close match and both are well capable of hitting maxes so I'm going to have a punt on over 6 maxes.

Recommendation: 1pt win over 6.5 maxes @ 4/5 (General)

Andy Smith v Gurney/Marijanovic:

Pieman plays the qualifier and if it's Gurney I think we might have a shock. All depends on the price though and lots of ifs involved before that happens.

Recommendation: No bet (At this time)

Dave Chisnall v Shane Tichowitsch:

First match of tonight sees Chissy Rascal take on the aussie qualifier Tichowitsch. Chissy will be hoping he can replicate last year's run which saw him knock out Taylor along the way. He's had another good season and has risen up the rankings and hopefully we see the best of him this next fortnight. Tichowitsch qualified by winning the aussie order of merit and makes his 2nd appearance at Ally Pally. he lost to Andy Smith 2 years ago and didn't look too bad but if Chissy plays to his form he should win comfortably. Odds on to win 3-0 makes no appeal to me though but I think Chissy will win with a bit in hand.

Recommendation: No Bet

Max Hopp v Charl Pietersen:

Quite an interesting prelim as things go here between the 16 year old Hopp & South African Pietersen. Hopp making it here at such a young age clearly shows he has a bright future and by all accounts Pietersen played really well to qualify. No bet as too many imponderables but looking forward to watching this.

Recommendation: No Bet

John Part v Joe Cullen:

3 time champ Part and forum favourite plays his opener v Joe Cullen who I think has a decent game in him. Party seems to be struggling more and more on tv but he may find a bit of comfort in coming back to Ally Pally where he's a former champ. Cullen always seems to do ok in the UK Open but never really had a good run in a tv tourney. Part at 1/2 looks too short to me and I'll be risking a min bet on Cullen to cause a little bit of a surprise.

Recommendation: 0.5pt win Joe Cullen @13/8 (Bet 365)

Phil Taylor v Michael Mansell:

Taylor takes to the stage tonight and at odds of 1/50 he will appeal to the money buyers only. I see no edge in this match but if Taylor plays his B game he'll probably win 3-0.

Recommendation: No Bet

Denis Ovens v Hopp/Pietersen:

Mr Saturday Night himself Captain Hobo takes centre stage tonight and lets all hope and pray he has no injury problems like last year. Depending what happens in the qualifier I think this might be a potential shock but again impossible to say till after that.

Recommendation: No Bet

Summary: An interesting day ahead I think and hopefully we can get a couple of winners. Not massively confident but I do think there's a couple of potential winners lurking in there for us.

All the best to all the regulars and anybody taking a chance on today's games Happy
HH

Gl. Cant stand Brown. I remember when he sauntered on a couple of years ago like he was the next big thing. He wasnt.

Is the crowd getting worse? Would you pay to watch a film and turn your back on it to watch what was going on behind you? pathetic assembly of humans.

Why do they keep ranting about nerves? If he was nervous, he would have played badly at the start, not 2-0 up.
