Taylor would have to be favourite in my opinion especially given how good form he is in.
Report adrianooooo November 4, 2009 9:30 AM GMT
over a best of 21 leg match, i would make taylor at least a 1/10 fav.
Report TheMadness November 4, 2009 1:09 PM GMT
Long distance match. Ted would not win one.
Report STEPTOES YARD November 4, 2009 2:07 PM GMT
Reckon Martin Adams would beat Taylor 4 out of 10 times if in the mood

sick of all this rubbish, no way any bdo player wud even come close to taylor, theres only two (wade and barney) and on a very rare occasion a 3rd (jenkins) who can even cause taylor trouble. taylor will win grand slam and world champs easily.
Report STEPTOES YARD November 4, 2009 3:40 PM GMT
You seem to forget that Martin has nearly 15 years experience as England captain.

Taylor has never been England captain.
Report adrianooooo November 5, 2009 10:04 AM GMT
lol, your obviously fishing
Report Lies, DamnLies, and Statistics November 5, 2009 10:10 AM GMT
i am surprised they are even allowed to refer to it as the 'grand slam of darts' when the england captain is not in attendance...

Report adrianooooo November 5, 2009 11:04 AM GMT
why? he wudnt get anywhere anyway, none of the bdo players will get to the 1/4s. NAP
Report Texas Pete November 5, 2009 11:38 AM GMT
adrianooo, let me just re-enforce the point that he is the ENGLAND CAPTAIN - you don't get that accolade just because you hang around in one particular darting organisation for long enough.
Report Lies, DamnLies, and Statistics November 5, 2009 12:00 PM GMT
Report adrianooooo November 5, 2009 2:09 PM GMT
lol, hes the captain of the england team yes, that only play with other bdo representatives, point made. anyway ill let my pocket do the talking when the grand slam darts. taylor will wipe the floor with everyone. adams is a good player yes, but u must be mentally ill or retarded if u seriously think he woud beat phillip taylor. :)
Report TheMadness November 5, 2009 2:24 PM GMT
Last match was at the World Darts Trophy when Taylor wasn't playing half as good as he is now, and Adams lost 7 - 2 in sets. Match before then was at the 2001 Matchplay, Adams lost 17 - 9.
Report STEPTOES YARD November 5, 2009 7:55 PM GMT
I just feel that Taylor might be a little on edge playing Martin.

Would be in a real match for a change.

Would be great to see them go toe to toe.

I for one could call it.

hankey, mardle, whitlock and waites...

it's the group of DEATH!!!

if the world champion can't qualify from there, the bdo should pack up and go home...

Taken from Adams's wiki page

Adams also had a brief run in the rival Professional Darts Corporation between 1999 and 2001. He played in the revived News of the World Darts Championship in 1997, reaching the semi finals, losing to Taylor who won the event. Adams then claimed the Scania Open in 1999, beating Taylor in the final. He played in the 2000 PDC World Matchplay but lost in the first round. He returned to Blackpool a year later in 2001 and reached the semi finals. He beat Mick Manning, Alan Warriner and Dennis Smith before losing to the eventual winner Taylor. He then reached the quarter finals of the 2001 World Grand Prix, beating Peter Manley and Alex Roy before losing to John Lowe. Afterwards he never played in a PDC tournament again.

Clearly would have dominated the PDC if he had stayed, the Scania Open title is not to be dismissed lightly
Report STEPTOES YARD November 6, 2009 1:05 PM GMT
^ proof if needed that Martin would have won probably 4 or 5 pdc world titles by now
Report HarryCrumb November 6, 2009 1:13 PM GMT
Only if Hankey had stayed with the BDO.
Report thegame November 6, 2009 9:19 PM GMT
That tournament in Holland where he lost to Taylor 7-2 i actually backed Adams at the time. He was playing superb darts back then, but clearly Taylor has taken his game to another level since then and Adams wouldn't win a set now (not many people would)
Report TheMadness November 7, 2009 12:52 PM GMT
Phil got Anastasia in his group LOL
Report STEPTOES YARD November 7, 2009 3:22 PM GMT
That will be "a cracker dave"
Report TheMadness November 7, 2009 7:34 PM GMT
It's funny. When Taylor was vulnerable, he often got some tricky draws. Running into Barney in the UK Open quarter finals for instance.

But now he's unbeatable he seems to get the easiest draws.

Might change if Anderson is scheduled to meet him in the 2nd round of the WC of course
Report thegame November 7, 2009 7:49 PM GMT
I can assure you, that will not happen somehow
Report Lies, DamnLies, and Statistics November 8, 2009 2:11 AM GMT
anderson currently 33rd on order of merit, 5,000 behind scholten in 32nd and 10,000 behind van gerwen in 31st - that doesn't include the 800 he won yesterday

not sure how much scholten will lose in the next month, but looks a strong possibility of the dreamboy being 32nd...

anyone know when the seeds are decided??
Report E November 8, 2009 11:01 AM GMT
Seeds decided after the German Championships at the end of this month, all money taken off which is defended for today and the german event puts Anderson 33 and only £117 behind Scholten in 32,very interesting that Anderson is not playing today and so i doubt he'll play in Germany either so he will be unseeded for the Worlds.
Report Lies, DamnLies, and Statistics November 8, 2009 11:08 AM GMT
^ trying to avoid being 32nd??
Report Lies, DamnLies, and Statistics November 8, 2009 11:20 AM GMT
had he won one more match yesterday, may have already sewn it up...
Report E November 8, 2009 11:21 AM GMT
Yeah,looks that way,Seed 32 plays Taylor 2nd round.
