Nonsense to criticise the Australian approach here , they came over with two goals 1) Ashes 2) Series , with a bad weather day forecast on Monday they've rightly absorbed time to bring the draw into play as avoiding defeat is obviously the aim to win the series.

not criticised it at all Hayden...though I'd debate the worth of batting based on Monday's forecast 3/4 days out if you're suggesting that was the reasoning...

In the last 15 minutes or so, it has got really dark here in South London.

You can't really tell how gloomy it is from the t.v. pictures so batting can't be easy a.t.m.

only just caught the replay having had to do boring things like trade the prices (yawn) but how did Bairstow not go for that....very fortunate as you say apt'

Understatement of the series! There'd have been a proper Ashes p1ssboil if Root hadn't pulled that off.

It has brightened up quite a lot in the last few minutes.

Yes I've done some trades as well, brought the draw onside so all okay whatever happens now.

obscene shot...should be dropped if he gets a run a ball 50 here...

Smith on toast for a moment, for Woakes.

Moeen's absence could yet be pivotal but I'd be hard-pushed to have Australia favourites here.

It has been an excellent match for betting on and very finely poised.
England touched 4.0 not that long ago and 2.44 now.

Laugh DRS was brought in to eliminate shocking decisions by the umpire. That was almost the ultimate shocker.

If Australia were the side with the innovative approach, and we played the way they are in opposition to it, we would be absolutely pilloried.

As it is, everyone just sits and waits for the innovative approach to fail (because it belongs to us, rather than the opponents).

By:

And there's no throwing the results into it (which would of course be flawed, anyway)...

If the sides were flipped: England would have 'robbed them' in the first Test, Australia blew the second and then the reality of how rubbish England are has been on show since the beginning of the third Test.

Does anyone else sit down at the start of most days (whatever the sport), dig themselves somewhere between a moderate to big hole and then set about getting out of it?

Genuinely, though...I don't know anyone in real life who does the kind of 'work' I do so I've been in something of an echo chamber for years but this is just sooooo consistent for me, it's untrue.

I presume it's like a form of masochism that I require to get me going but boy can it be costly and annoying, and even if I consciously (not always the best to involve the conscious thought, of course) try to avoid it, I seldom do.

I appreciate this is a cricket board, not a personal psychiatry forum, so that's enough about that Crazy

Just ridiculous that I've actually gone backwards despite the game following this course, and it was me largely throwing away money with my first market entry.
