He seems to have complete lapses of concentration when fielding and batting which you can't afford at this level. Take him out of the slips for a start.

Fit as a Butchers dog. No reason for him not to continue. Flat wickets might be different but he is such a good bowler now the only reason not to play him is flat pitches in a busy schedule.
Bazball cannot work! Pakistan and NZ attacks both depleted. Can’t wait gif a fit Aussie attack to ……. well attack!
I am a purist and snob but I have no complaints. I am not saying I wound have been beaten for deliberately lifting it over the slips or ramping but my ears would have been chewed! I would never have thought about those type of shots though I am actually very good at them now.
What Stokes and McCullum have done is special. As said before look who Mike Brearley had in his side and then look back to 30-3 and 40-4 before Stokes. Special mention to KP for introducing un English cricket.

Crawley is simply not an opener. Think he's a huge talent and can succeed at Test level but he'd shine more if he batted at 4. On English wickets, opening batsmen are also like lambs to the slaughter.

clear they're more interested in how he plays than how many runs he gets. it's pretty much priced in he won't get more 1 or 2 decent scores in 5 tests against australia. england want fast starts with the pressure on the bowlers from ball 1 before root, brook, stokes and bairstow come in and hopefully cash in

Astonishing standard set by Anderson and Broad. 1,200 plus test wickets between them!!! I remember when Freddie Truman made his record breaking ( I think ) 300th and that was a huge deal then. I suppose much more test cricket is played nowadays but even so. And they are so combative and competitive still!

Wasn't he and Broad dropped briefly, in search of younger talent, both are still the best we have.
Unbelievable at his age he is still going strong.Best English seamer of all time.Wasn't he and Broad dropped briefly, in search of younger talent, both are still the best we have.
He will be "rested" for the 2nd Test then probaly brought back ,for Broad, in the 3rd. Needs a better performance than this one or it could be the end of a remarkable Test career.

Neither of the wickets so far have suited Anderson. It has all been about raw pace in this second test and Tongue is the only English bowler who can get close to any of the Aussies.

I think they'll rest him for the 3rd test, bring in Wood, and bring in Ahmed the young spinner, what happened to our spinners ? imagine if we had someone like Underwood and Knott behind the stumps, we'd win the ashes no probs

I wouldn’t count Jimmy out just yet. You look up at Headingly not just down. I think he needs to be rested for this match too if the pitch does not suit him.
It all depends on the pitches and conditions. Wood ought to get a start. I would drop Robinson and Anderson bug who comes in…..Woakes? Not much better imho. Little Reggie Ahmed? We don’t have the bowlers imho.
Without Stokes bowling our balance is lost.
I would like to see Foakes play but who to leave out? I would leave Johnny out to let him reflect on the true cost of being a d*cke!
I would say none of us have the right answer. If is up to the players chosen to use their brains and deploy some courage.
Wood might bring Anderson into play.
I would stick with Broad, not my favourite bug he has what it takes… courage and intelligence oh and a gob. I like that!

broad the only bowler who's really been up to scratch. let's face it aussies wouldn't have sniffed 300 if we'd bowled anything like day 1
robinson has been well below par. hardly reaching 80mph. is he really fit ?

But theres only Wood available with any reasonable claims
Wood for Anderson might be the only rotation on that basis
Anderson needs a rest and Robinson is poor so far But theres only Wood available with any reasonable claims Wood for Anderson might be the only rotation on that basis
