I think England went close to or above 4. My highest back was 3.6 and it did not look good until just before lunch and even then Pakistan rallied.
Fair play tk both teams bug what a leader Stokes is tk get the best out if his players and to trust them in a way Football managers in general and Southgate in particular just don’t understand or allow. Tika take, two banks of 4, low blocks etc are making football dull and metronomic. What s breath of fresh air from Stokes, Baz and not forgetting Rob Key! Also great that our game brings people together |

how good is harry brook ? remarkable stuff in his 2nd and 3rd tests
|
By:
Brook was very good in the 20/20 as well. Exceptional player.
|
By:
Good to see these boys get their chance!
Exciting times but we need younger fast bowlers soon and a World Class spinner now. |
By:
An example of one of the Stokes/McCullum influences that is close to negligible but when summed...
Abandoning the slips here after six overs. Not just keeping a couple, as rote, because it's the morning of a Test - and for no other reason. |
By:
There won't be an edge; if there is, it likely won't carry; why are they there? Because that is what you do.
We don't. That's consigned to history. He puts the men where he believes most likely to receive the ball. Sounds like nothing (especially as I write it), but I think it's everything. |
By:
Possibly the most banal aspect of the 'revolution', but also probably right up there in importance.
All about intent. And playing to win. |
By:
Difference here, even were we to have lost seven on this deck - we'd have 400 by now...
|
By:
Did not keep an eye on this a I had a shilling on India at 1.46 which for me is not a price I usually punt in but it went well from the moment J put my money down which was when Kuldeep and Ashwin were starting.
Tomorrow is going to be interesting Karachi. Slow spin. England need to get a decent lead or face defeat. Can the pitch die? Draw over 20 already! |
By:
Basit and Waqar seemed united that this pitch would get trickier to bat on, in contrast to 'Pindi.
We shall see. A couple skidded a touch yesterday from Wood, too. (Which could be early dying or breaking up, I'm shooting in the dark ) |
By:
Well, well.
Super first hour for England has flipped in two deliveries. We have England under it a touch for the first time in the series... |
By:
Was going to back Pakistan around 1.86 breaking my rules of never backing Pakistan and never bet in Pakistan despite backing England last Test, which, I layed off.
Pakistan seem a very good price. |
By:
Kwality! Tbf to me I would only have had a small bet but to make 40 points in less than an over is incredible! Well it would have been but I am out! |
By:
Babar's gonna keep these two on until Christmas Day.
|
By:
I suspect they're scared that Brook will go 'carnage' if they bring on a part-timer but this last half hour has been a tad loopy...
|
By:
They had us right under it.
|
By:
That said, Brook makes it look sooooo easy. 23 years old.
|
By:
Pope, Root, Brook, Bairstow.
Gone from no batters to that middle order in six months |
By:
With Stokes wherever you want him
|
By:
Nelson!
If I bet on this match I would put myself in my Christmas Deadpool frame I want to back both Pakistan at 2.26 and England at evens! I am not betting I am not betting I am not betting |
By:
Stupid from Rehan
2.26 on Pakistan looks huaoge Odds on now! |
By:
I hope Ahmed’s dad gives him a slap
That was a schoolboy shot…….even if Ahmed is young enough to be a schoolboy get you eye in lad. Baz Ball is a myth. Play cricket! Foakes again showing the way. England still not out if this if they can get reverse going early My gut says back the team not betting last even if if Pakistan? I think Pakistan win this but they will at some stage look like they are losing I am not betting! |
By:
Wow a red Kite can see a squirrel at 2km
Well I never |
By:
This is crazy. The odds are now on Engerland and they are still 30 behind batting last against Pakistan in their natural habitat
I am not betting |
By:
Pakistan do look juicy at 2.24 here
|
By:
Useful runs now, very good recovery from 145/5...
|
By:
Yes. England were about 3’s then and I was tempted.
Still do not have a Scooby about how this game pans out. Just going to enjoy it! |
By:
How do you fit Bstard into this team?
|
By:
Or livingstone
|
By:
I would give JB the gloves, and accept a possible drop-off.
He's not expected to bat 250 deliveries, more likely 85 for a ton. Doable as wickie. |
By:
Livingstone carrying drinks
|
By:
In for Rehan if/when Stokes can bowl quota and second spinner handy but not mandatory?
|
By:
I don't think he's required if we're batting down to Bairstow at 7.
|
By:
don't think you can be burdening bairstow with the gloves straight after returning from a serious leg break
|
By:
must be a case for Butler's return in this environment...was always crippled in approach by falling between two stools of playing his natural game or the perceived playing properly ...won't be a problem now..though may be best off sticking to white ball on physical demands I guess and his keeping wasn't always great but feels bizarre really that he's not keeper batsman in this style of side..
|
By:
If he was keen, couldn't agree more on Buttler. I'm his biggest fan.
With white ball and history, I suspect that ship has probably sailed. I think he'd have been in as soon as Stokes took over, if he were going to join the party. |
By:
How on earth do we suddenly have an embarrassment of riches? Such that we're struggling to find out how Bairstow gets in
|
By:
I should be trying to scalp but instead I'll try to find an 'everyone fit' XI for Ashes opener...
|
By:
Crawley
Duckett Pope Root Brook Stokes Bairstow (wk) Robinson Archer Leach Anderson Wood for Leach? Be a big help if JB opened as well as he does in T20 as Crawley might struggle and we could have a keeper. Duckett's county numbers mean I'd like to give him a summer. |
