That stat is something...
England on almost the same score after 12 overs that Pakistan were in the World T20 Final |
By:
pakistan bowling attacks is severely weakened. Did back England bug think I will reverse out if it. No idea if the pitch will die.
Backed runs in the hope there is not too much reverse. Otherwise England will get 600! I am on o511.5 |
By:
Also need to review what I may have said about Crawley. I always felt he has what it takes and was very disappointed in his more recent efforts. Good to see Duckett.
|
By:
Not beyond the realm that your runs line lands today
Dom Sibley will have been 18* after 33 overs more than once for England, I'm sure. Pitch, or no pitch, this is quite the change! |

Tuffers fielding for Pakistan under disguise of Mohammad Ali

Three centuries on the first day with a fourth imminent! Great to have David Gower back commentating. He is still the easiest to listen to and very funny at times. A "less than average over" goes for 6 boundaries. The pace of scoring must in part come from one day play. The batsmen are so used to using a heavy bat and hitting the ball hard at every opportunity. The pitch helps of course.

Well.
|
By:
lucky for pakistan england were feeling a bit under the weather
|
By:
500 in one day in a test match...
Pakistan must have had the sh!ts never mind feeling under the weather |
By:
Wouldnt surprise me if we won this inside 3 days only to lose the second test by an innings
Its the way we play nowadays |

Some extraordinary Test Cricket!
I have not even watched a ball being bowled but I bet the draw in Perth as 12.5 blind on the basis that this must be a good pitch. There was a hint of rain day 2 which never materialised, no cloud cover for the rest of the match. I think WI are developing a pretty decent batting unit. There are some batters there that are used to scoring and scoring big. Used to play fast bowling and these are good hard and fast pitches. Never seen the young Chanderpaul play in a Test. I also bet WI a knicker as 290! I am standing to win in excess of £250 on a £25 odd Blind Hail Mary! Go figure! Coming to England I joined the fray at 44 odd for no wicket. I was listening to the radio and heard these boys hitting Rauf through the line and on the up and he bowls 150 clicks! Something not right. I listened and decided at 100 odd that the rest of the team could shirley make 400 between them on this pitch. The only question was would it reverse after the shine was battered or spin later on so I bet over 511.5 then over 525.5 I woke up and thought I saw Engerland were 400 all out and West Indies had collapsed but I was not drunk just tired and my eyes were wide shut so I went back to sleep lamenting my stupidity to bet even small amounts without due diligence. Happy to say gut feeling is pretty good with me, maybe because I have been taking to eating yoghurt to balance alcohol and roast meat! I have not heard or read what happened yesterday in 'Pindi. Has anyone ever scored more Test runs in one day? How does the match go. Will England have a chance of bowling Pakistan out twice? How many can Engerland score? Personally if I were England Captain and the pitch is rock solid I would bet until we are all out. Why give them a chance to bat on a good wicket so their confidence grows and our bowlers tire. Can't see us getting a thousand but everybody is playing for their place. Will Jack was not supposed to play. What if he gets a hundred. Brook has already got a hundred. What if Livingstone gets a hundred? How does Jonny Bstard feel about his place even Foakes although he is probably in a safer place than Bstard? I am so pleased for these young guys. I love this game Stan! |
By:
Brook, 2nd appearance in Test cricket:
444444 (first time by anyone for England in one over) 644463 (usurps his own record, from yesterday, for most runs in an over) Including reversed six, reversed four, straight six and three pulls. He is some talent. |
By:
Meanwhile, is the scoreboard at Rawalpindi the only manual one left on a test ground? Hanging bits of painted metal on hooks brings back memories of village cricket in the 1950s. Do they have enough 6s to put up 666/6 after 166 overs? It does seem to be a bizarre game in so many respects. Meanwhile Pakistan might have a first innings lead by close tomorrow.

Can't see us not thrashing here, even with that Duckett wicket first up...
Wouldn't lump this |
By:
draw price, sub 1.4
|
By:
Furthermore, really hard to see how the draw can go much/any shorter for a good while.
We're either losing wickets or we're scoring swiftly (and thus heading for a competitive declaration with time left). Feels like a tidy upside/downside draw lay... |

Beautiful scenes.
Love this England approach, transformed the spectacle. |
By:
love the England approach? They have just openly done a Hansie Cronje. In a dominant position but declared making their opponents the favourites for the win. In a sport worth hundreds of millions, you can't tell us this is logical.
|
By:
They've only done a Cronje if they've been paid.
It has been clear for six months how they now collectively approach the game - they want to win and entertain, at all costs. |
By:
Unless you're asserting corrupt and nefarious motives (which I assume you aren't) then, for me, the market was naive not to factor Stokes and McCullum in more completely.
|
By:
There is playing entertaining test match cricket and then there is utter stupidity with a 3 match series we have just handed the 1st test on a plate as all Pakistan need to do is bat normal and go at about 3 runs an over,we took risks to get 264 off 35.5 overs and we now give Pakistan 90 overs unless of bad light at the end of the day to take minimal risks in getting roughly the same total, sorry guys in my book it is utter stupidity
|
By:
Don't like to criticise as the side have been awesome and very entertaining but for me that 2nd day they should have looked to have batted all day. 2 days bowling and fielding with a math score would have knocked the stuffing out of the pakistan attack for this test and maybe the whole series.
Also think they have declared 100 runs too short last innings given how obviously batting friendly thsi pitch is. I know the England camp are looking to entertain and get results but this really should have been a scenario where Pakistan never had a chance to win and it was either England win or a draw. |
By:
Can’t deny it’s entertaining and who cares if we lose, we’ll win the next or the one after that
Root wed be batting out for a bore draw |
By:
i presume scoring 900+ would be the most by a side losing a test and by some margin
pakistan really aren't very good are they ? been totally outplayed on a the flattest of flat ones by a side with 1 specialist spinner and no out and out fast bowler. barbar's already gone and i doubt they'll cruise this tomorrow |
By:
I hope Pakistan win this. England are not playing Test Cricket.
Oh for my Bailey and Mackay of long, long ago. |
By:
Yeah, this has been turgid stuff on a brilliant deck.
|
By:
Cmon Pakistan, this has been an awful spectacle.
|
By:
Wow!
I don’t want Pakistan to win. Well done Stokes and it was an over generous declaration. We need to see adventure in Test Cricket. This is getting really exciting now. No point in new ball yet |
By:
Bails always fell in the old days, too.
This isn't cricket. |
By:
Ball hits stumps, funny if Pakistan can win it now.
|
By:
I think they should sail to away tours.
|
By:
Agreed!
Game over now! No gym’s bug running around on the deck [ in singlets and flannels |
By:
Quite seriously I think there should be a weight limit on bats.
Pakistan sensibly playing for a draw now |
By:
Quite a turnaround since tea. Paks went into their shell.
|
By:
Wasim knows.
Fantastic display by England whatever happy here. Should have been a nailed on draw on this road. Still might be |
By:
Apols Wa’qar of course. He is squirming
|
By:
This is a cross between a fairytale and a fantasy
Unbelievable Geoff |
By:
Absolutely sensational.
No words for what has occurred since Stokes took the helm. |
By:
Basit Ali was right, he becomes Lord of Rawalpindi for what he/they have done here.
They will pack the ground wherever they go. Play. To. Win. |
