Afghan need to score 125 or thereabouts to eliminate Australia-provided that England win of course. The way things are going Afghan could even win the game which would ensure England are through.

Eng lose to SL they are out, even if Afghanistan had won.

Great relief in the end but considering where they were after 8 overs, England were dreadful. It will be a great watch from now on though with 2 semis and a final. Why did Curran and Woakes swing the bat when they needed one per ball? They only needed to block the ball and run. I know Woakes got a boundary to win but only because the field had come in.

England do have the best bowling but can’t see us winning it, nice to consistently be making semi finals though. We were better last year before being grind down to Australia
We looked unstoppable in the group stage last year whereas we’ve looked less so

it's a very hit and miss format. oz have been largely awful either side of stringing together the 4 wins needed to win last year's competition whereas as you say england looked the best team last time but a dodgy 3 over spell put them out

Semi finals are too close to call imho. All teams have decent attacks and destructive batsmen. It can come down to the toss and conditions leaving aside luck.
I think India will play Pant to deal with Rashid and the short square boundaries as he is a left hooker and can float in the order. India have a big problem with the fifth bowler imho. England have plenty of seamers with pace on and off.
Which Pakistan will turn up?
Just going to enjoy the show with a steak and a fine Barossa. Semi finals can be cricket at its best.
Who will deal best with the square boundaries in Adelaide. England look well prepared and well planned. India more likely to rely on individual genius than planning or grunt.
NZ look well rounded. As long as they don't bat first on a green wicket I expect them to win but definitely not a forgone conclusion.

Would be a cracking final either way for me watching wise
England vs Pakistan would be great although losing to them would be depressing esp with having mad Pakistani shop owners down my street (always talk cricket when Im in)
India vs Pakistan is always a watch personally, always interesting match ups for me
Ive backed India (single vs us), Ill get up to watch that

Excellent first 15 overs from England. You would have to wonder what the score could have been if India got a better start. Comeback by I dis makes this really exciting. Not sure India will be able to contain England in the middle overs so start with swing will be crucial.
Can’t call this at all. Nice win on run lines but not risking a penny on the result. Odds about right just now but......

Absolutele cake walk for England. They have been brilliant tbf.
So important to go after the ball when it is hard as it also puts pressure on the bowlers.
India trying to hit the ball too hard rather than looking for gaps in the field. Far too many dot balls put them against the wall. The way England are playing they may well have chased down 180. England finding all the gaps.
Might be quite cat and mouse with Pakistan. Pakistan will need to chase to make it an exciting game I think.

Absolutely fantastic performance by the Pomms. Will have far too much discipline and firepower for Pakistan. They will smother them with their bowling attack.Congrats to the Pomms for reaching the final. They are the best team in the tournament.

That was sublime stuff from England, never seen such a caning with the bat
They better win it after that, we see that a fair bit , a sublime master class followed by a sticky performance and loss after

not a good look from batsman rohit to try and pin it all on the bowlers when anyone can see it's india's old fashioned cautious approach in the first 10 overs which cost them

England have raised the bar in how to play the T20 power play , it seems all the other top nations are playing " old " T20 so expect to see the big guns revisit their strategies following this world cup.
Well played England , masterclass

Pretty shocking interview by Rohit throwing his bowlers under the bus particularly Bhuvie.
India quite clearly have not adapted to the changing demands of T20 and particular needs in Australia.
Both England and NZ did not go after the hard new ball or take advantage of the opening power play restrictions. Neither put the bowlers under pressure. Neither team swept effectively or moved around the crease.

Yes India were 25 runs behind England on the power play and if they can't work out that scoring 65 in the last 5 overs only gets a par score then they need some fresh decision makers , they may as well call that Hardik blitz final 5 overs as 40 after losing the power play by the other 25 runs.
Can envisage a massive strategical change by these other nations following the World Cup , the protect , step up and thrash strategy is toast.
The likes of Kohli and Williamson are great players but T20 isn't their forte , going at a 125 strike rate for 40 or 50 is ok as long as you can attach a cameo at the end to drag up to 170+ , otherwise you've put too much on the incoming batsmen.
Lets all remember the good times when England end up 36-5 adopting the same strategy , it won't pay off every game for sure.
I'd be put off with any pre-game bets for Sunday as Duckworth Lewis may raise its ugly head , forecast not wonderful.
Good luck all

Yes of course as covered in latest cricinfo articles. India behind the times and out thought. Pakistan by contrast got it under Moody particularly in semi. I wouldn’t sat Barbar in particular is a banger but he and Rizwan git if and smashed it in the first six overs of the chase under the tutelage of Matthew Hayden

Pakistan need to slow the pace down, bowl slowly and strangle our batters that way
We like to go at a brisk pace
England could get dragged into a tight slow game Pakistan need to slow the pace down, bowl slowly and strangle our batters that way We like to go at a brisk pace
Rashid and Curran outstanding with the ball and what can you say about Stokes. A true competitor and warrior. Well skippered by Buttler too. Best team wins the tournament and that doesn't always happen. Congrats to the new T20 World Champions.

batting gets all the headlines but both in 2019 and now they've had 4 must win matches to take the trophy and the bowling has always contained the opposition to a low or modest score

Fantastic to hold both formats at the same time. I thought we were more impressive last year but came untuck in a tight semi final
This year we built up momentum during the groups and got the job done in the knock outs
Feel a bit for Pakistan but they’ll take one at some point their fast bowling is fantastic, they just came up against our bowling attack today and we edged it on that.

Delighted we won it and never mind us getting some fortune...we're owed a bit over the years ...
but if Afridi doesn't get injured there not sure we get over the line....15 off 5 from the part time-ish offie.. and Ben nearly clothed one straight to long off in that over before the back to back boundaries...would have looked a very different game if he gets out scoring less than a run a ball there...couldn't lay a bat on Naseem at one point though was doing a bit to be fair and 90mph...but the post game Stokesy love in felt a bit misplaced to me today...

Great if he stays in but if he gets out then it's tough on who follows.
We needed a partnership though as we lost 3 wickets very early, and having wickets in hand would have surely seen us win.
Great to win a world cup and complain about the way we did it.
Oh for a lucky cup win in Qatar!!!

went to the 2019 final and we were saying to each other at one point stokes was costing england any chance. all gets forgotten after he went ballistic at the end but for a long time he could hardly get it off the square. it was buttler's 59 off 60 i think that kept england even vaguely in touch with the rate. no one else from either side played a fluent innings on a tricky pitch

Stokes is a legend in my opinion, he single handely got us over the line in so many games its unreal
2019, 2022 and that test vs Australia (leach alongside him) was the most ridiculous innings ive seen from a England batter, hes a top cass player and we need him in the teams.
Woakes is a shock, for a lad whos not rapid amd bowls just consistently well but not spectacular hes actually done a damn good job for us in all formats

not a big stretch to see him back in the side for the defence of the world cup next year. hardly any 50 over cricket of significance before they start to focus on it properly again from next september

This World Cup was quite striking for me to see that it is starting to look like a young mans game certainly from a batting perspective. I would say even Stokes time in this format is limited as a batsman but his use as an integral all rounder is was certainly a big factor in this tournament.
What was far more shocking was seeing that time is up for Rohit Sharma as opener and Captain of India abroad. I expect to see The Regulators akaYoung Gun’s having some fun....given a chance soon.
The 50 Over World Cup is in India next year so there may be a lag. Top players like Stokes and Rohit will have a big part to play but T20 is changing rapidly.
I would like to see Hales given a chance at Test level and even Malan incorporated if possible for The Ashes.
Great World Cup, good format. Every game crucial and on edge. SA a real shocker. They are one of my favourite teams at the moment with a bowling attack that comprises of Rabada, Ngidi, Jansen and Nortje.........with a salivating 3 Test Series against The Convicts coming up in Aus on fast bouncy wickets........I predict a riot!

i don't watch much of the various T20 leagues around the world but it shocked me to see pant face about 5 balls against england. he'd be facing as many as possible for me
