Starting to look like a very easy pitch to bat on. I have had a small interest in the draw already.

oops, 2 wickets in 2 balls. Didn't see that coming.

Gough called it right. I think TV commentators got it wrong ( I think ). Good toss to lose. Looks a belter of a pitch and we did not bowl well today. Lucky to get the 2 wickets to keep us in it.

Bowling full is smart but not wide. That first Broad over after lunch was terrible.

And that dropped catch by Crawley demonstrates where Broad should be bowling

Thinking about a cheeky back of Ingerlund here.

England back territory rather

Anyone from the area?

Does it swing more after tea?

Does the pitch bat better days 2 and 3?

Draw finally below what it was after 10 overs! I know 5 days with no rain delays is a long time but at this rate there will only be 85 overs each day. Review coming!

NZ got away with one there.

Still not sure why NZ are so short after the last game and without Williamson. England could just as easily get 500 on this pitch.

Williamson no loss, bang out of form
Eng COULD get 500 but it'll take 2 inns

I think the pitch is wearing. England didn’t bowl well but gif some good wickets. NZ batted well but got and 4 catches were dropped. NZ in box seat.

Nice not to have any women commentators in this series
Butch is a top commentator, surprised he doesn't get more tests

this SHOULD be a nailed on draw
i've been laying it purely on the basis that u can't trust the Eng batters
but ffs it's a runway

England still need a top 3.

I am sure Kees is a decent cricketer band score runs on wickets like this but he is not equipped to do well at this level. Planting your feet and swinging the bat might work at county level but not against the best and he will continue to be found out against decent bowlers.

CrWkey and particularly Pope have it but again Crawley needs to tighten up. Pope will continue to get out if he plays across straight balls. He is though looking good in this pitch. Could be a good player if he gets some good coaching or better still advice.

Already seeing a difference with Stokes captain

More fight in them already? Root is to nice with the team and the opposition, Stokes strikes me as someone who has that “run through brick walls for him” vibe.

Still on the draw but a bit surprised that it has not really shortened up since tea. Back out to 1.5 now. Anyone really see a winner and if so who? If England declare when ahead (and why would they) NZ need to score 350 plus tomorrow in 5 hours and then hope to bowl England out again. England are one up so why would they take any risks? Only the first 20 overs of each new ball seem to pose any threat to batters.

Ordinarily yes you'd think why wouldn't England just bat on, but we're in the era of McCullum the Brave now :) If he sent his captain out swinging yesterday when they were still over 200 behind, maybe they'll bat up to 550 or let Rooty get 200, then declare. Then the ball's in the Kiwi's court, sure they could smash 350 but if England hold some catches they could be bowled out for 250. We've seen hardly any variable bounce, Kiwis have no frontline spinner and Jamieson is waiting on an MRI scan. Who knows whether the series result will even come into the reckoning? England can't make it into the final of the test championship so they may consider this series a free hit.

Can’t see a declaration! England are  still 80 behind. Let’s get there first! Furthermore why would you give NZ a sniff of winning! Bat, bat and bat. No rush. Bat all day if you can. Bat tomorrow morning if you still gave wickets in hand and hood the pitch will deteriorate. No brained!

Agreed, bat on and they can't lose. The possibility of something funky is keeping people from lumping on the draw maybe and getting stung.

These two are batting really well! Boule is getting swing from thd hand from a very old ball! Anything could happen here. I have NZ Green so not going to punt this any further but I would like to see how a new batsman might fare!

Draw backers in trouble here!

I suggest the ball might swing after the lawyer comes off. Nice cloud cover and if the sun comes out Leach may play his part.

England could also lose this just as easily.

Pitch is dtill good enough to see out a draw so J shall green out on all three results and maybe a bucket on the ThaiLaugh
