Didn’t figure him for a new ball bowler but figured his high release might cause problems. Aussies seem better able to leave on length.

Get Wood on from the other end while the ball is hard!

It’s line everyone knows come round the wicket to Warner except Woakes!

good wheels from Woody

as per tms the conundrum is that ideally you'd use him in very short bursts to keep the pace up but will need Stokes to bowl well to facilitate that..

Warner looking good already. England really need another wicket

Labusgagne is a big one he gets in its not good

130kph from Robinson - not sure they'll be much for that once the balls loses it's hardness and he tends to drop pace in his later spells...

converts to 80mph in old money for context...

150 clicks which the speed gun had Woody at in thew last over- an impressive 93mph

It’s worrying brentford

Woakes with short cr@p, Robinson with low pace short cr@p

Stokes plodding in at low 80s

Wood will be knackered by 3 oclock...

Root and Leach bowling the last hour of tge day most days bowling wise
By:
brentford
When: 08 Dec 21 23:15
They might not be able to resist trying to hit Leach out of the attack later...could just help England...

Theyre waiting for the ball to soften here

They know we havent got real pace other than Wood who is injury prone

would have been nice to see Archer on this as well...tends to take the hand brake off in the warm weather..

Raw pace is unnerving!

Theyll start to motor once theyve seen off our initial onslaught Sad

Stokes will be crucial. Can’t see us taking 20 wickets without him doing well

God bless you Stokes! Warner did start well but Woods put him under pressure

Goddam no ball!

England have bowled very well. They are putting up a fight. Good effort.

Bowling in this oppressive heat not easy.

Rotating well

We need good rotation in this series

It won't be a popular opinion (especially given he bowled Warner off the no ball) but I thought Stokes was very poor and bowled a lot of deliveries that wasted a relatively shiny new ball.

Wood bowling super quick

Id bring Leach on
By:
brentford
When: 09 Dec 21 00:18
bit of a mixed bag from him rob but his prep for this has been a long way from ideal in his defence

On the whole England have deserved more than 1 wicket. Everyone entitled to an opinion Rob999 but Stokes capable of making something happen and I think he's done OK
By:

Don't disagree Brentford but I do think that half of his Test wickets come from the fact that he can't bowl two in a row in the same spot and the result is that the batsman has no clue what is coming.

He nearly had two wickets in that last over as a result of that 'tactic' with the wide half volley that Warner nearly dragged on and the short long hop that Marnus nearly pulled to Pope.

Then again, who am I to say that the random approach isn't a genuine tactic...

England have definitely deserved more than one wicket. Can't recall as many play and misses in a session in quite a while.
By:
SontaranStratagem
When: 09 Dec 21 00:23
Stokes is decent enough when it comes to rotating
By:
brentford
When: 09 Dec 21 00:28
problems mounting pretty rapidly for Eng
By:
SontaranStratagem
When: 09 Dec 21 00:28
Id be getting him off after this over mind
By:
brentford
When: 09 Dec 21 00:29
bowls some filth and then that Laugh
By:
SontaranStratagem
When: 09 Dec 21 00:30
Leach on now

But we dont have great options as been said

Cant keep bowling Wood despite the temptation
By:
rob999
When: 09 Dec 21 00:30
Then he bowls an absolute peach. I'm telling you, drawing them into a false sense of security with three or four deliveries scattered here there and everywhere is the tactic.
By:
brentford
When: 09 Dec 21 00:30
how many overs can he bowl going to be an issue as well...hardly want to run him into the ground...Woody needs to be manged as well..

lot on Leach being able to hold the scoring at least...
By:
rob999
When: 09 Dec 21 00:32
In fairness I suspect Wood has been told in advance that he ain't playing the next Test
By:
brentford
When: 09 Dec 21 00:33
I'm sure that's right rob but if he starts dipping below 86-87mph bowling longer spells he doesn't offer a huge amount
By:
rob999
When: 09 Dec 21 00:35
Leach's main weapon is going to be what Moeen had for quite some time - The opposition don't rate him.
By:
SontaranStratagem
When: 09 Dec 21 00:36
They are going after Leach then Laugh
