played plenty of cricket and football (local level) through the 90's and early 2000's and dressing room stuff can always be pretty lively and sometimes the stuff dressed as banter is a lot more than that but even then race related stuff was totally off the menu as something acceptable...

IMHO what has happened here is abhorrent. Do I believe all of it... no. As for this episode, we've seen this before. The truth has never mattered. I don't know why people continue to live under that illusion. The thing is, your minister(the bald one, Sajid something) and your PM have tweeted support for Rafiq.

Unless you were born yesterday, you should know what that means. It means the issue has got the govt's backing. You can either stay to the side or get crushed by it. It is how the world works.

The club itself has accepted some of the allegations. Which means the allegations it has rejected doesn't matter. Rafiq can claim whatever he wants to and most of it will stick. And that's exactly what he's doing. Whether he is right on all counts or not does not matter.

Nothing acts within a vacuum. Will they be hearing from liaison officers from the surrounding area, interviewing the police to get a feel of the general feeling between communities?

Has what David Lloyd apologised for been published? No doubt he was under pressure from his employer to issue an apology. There is racism on both sides. Witnessed a white male being told we only listen to Indian Radio here, take it or leave it...or leave. Some and only some BLM supporters need to grow up and open their eyes when they say only whites are racist, note I said some.
However, racism is more likely to come from white people. There are people in denial if they cannot see what has happened here. Preston Cricket Club at West Cliff was a terrific ground to play on back in the seventies. A top flight Northern league Club with a thriving social club.
Not any more. The ground has deteriorated, the social side has gone and they have dropped into the Palace Shield Competition and are no better than the vlllage cricket clubs around here now.
I have heard the club is broke, has been theatened by the league for non payment of fees, poor discipline and so on.
The club draws upon the Asain community for most of its players. Most of the white players have gone.

It is shameful the way today's development has been covered. If it had been a well known white cricketer it would have been headline news, but they have deliberately pushed this back. BBC wheeled out Bose to suggest this didn't undermine his claims. Who does he think he is kidding. If this had been disclosed beforehand how does he think his claims would have been received?

Rafiq says there were no no excuses, but then in the next sentence he says he was 19. Excuses, or no excuses? You can't have it both ways. This was on record, but how much was there not on record? He apologised because he had no alternative. He wasn't sorry until the article was disclosed.

He has made fools out of that panel, the news channels, and anyone else who was willing to accept everything he said as gospel.

I haven't followed this all that closely. But, am I to understand that this Rafiq was willing to destroy the careers of certain people by accusing them of making racist remarks, knowing full well that he has been guilty of exactly the same thing himself?
Can his claims be taken seriously after that? And if they are, what action will be taken against him?

Not only did he imply his drinking was down to others (whites) but apparently he was dropped for Eng u19 for his conduct then fined for openly calling the coach a ‘wanke r’, Twitter have hammered him as so they should, his credibility is in tatters.

We certainly do not know for sure what happened but there is a strong suspicion that plenty of untoward stuff went on.

I just read Vaughan's lawyer cross examine Rashid and Rafiq and the whole case against Vaughan looks dubious as hell.

There have been many errors in statements, incorrect references, a disparity of what was actually said, a difference of who heard the single comment and a number of revelations that just undermine the whole thing.

Firstly Rashid cant recall anything other than the comment, and it is different to what Rafiq recalls, but both agree it wasnt meant as racist....so whythefook are we even here?
Stoner asked what made the comment upset Rafiq and he said the reference to 'you lot' refering to Asians (he also stated everyone heard it and it seems only 2 did) but then Stoner revealed:

So selective racism it seems. But some other things I learned from reading through the questioning.

Bresnan's lawyer wanted to know why he was being held accountable for referring to Rashid and Rafiq as 'The Brothers', when the ECB thmselves called them the 'Spin Twins', the ECB said that was irrelevant. How?

Also the ECB are financing Rafiq's security, I didnt know that before.
I also didnt know that Rafiq's business partnership with Rashid was a failure, or that Ms Neto stated on record Rashid had told her several times he was being pressured by Rafiq to back up his claim. She even stood as a witness, was cross examined and confirmed it (Rashid denied it...but here we are again, in a he said she said scenario that her testimony will probably get ignored and his relied on.

Also PCA Matthew Wood stood by his comment that Rafiq was categorically asked as part of an anti racism scheme if he had experienced any and he said no.
Wood also declared Rafiq had 'used his Asian' (heritage) to get privilege with the ECB's coaching course after the deadline had passed after joking with Wood that it didnt matter the deadline had passed he would still get on (and did)

OFC there are what look more cut and dried cases against Hogard and Bresnan, who have admitted using what is classed as racist bantor, but the only people who think that doesnt happen or infact go both ways have had a sterile upbringing and judge a totally artificial scenario well after the event.
