I backed India 2-1. What is wrong with these bookmakers. Make a bloody decision!! The fifth match was obviously void, what is difficult about that?

I’m on India series win outright and draw no bet on the sportsbook. Not been settled. Gangluly talking about a fifth test match next Summer on cricinfo. Funds could be tied up for another 12 months!

This last farago was always a possibility but hard to think about when into working out who is going to win.
I have a feeling 2-1 is going to be the official result. Don’t forget that might be a little harsh on people backing Indus 3-1 as well as draw or 2-2. England pulled out of SA and that may be the precedent when ICC meet to discuss. I am just glad I didn’t bet on the outcome. You can’t please everybody or offer a fair solution. I think 2-1 is closest to being right but the arguments on several sides have merit. |

dont blame betfair exchange here, ( though they could come out and say, were voiding or not, or we are waiting for official result even if its in 3 months etc etc ), as they have backers and layers to please , but the bookmakers stance is pathetic, coral and lads are paying out 2-2 and 2-1 , yet nothing from the rest, come on bookmakers pay out on the double result, i bet it isnt that much whove done 2-1 anyway

Apart from Lads and Coral being very honourable I haven't even heard any comments from the other bookies regarding the delays in their decision and what may be happening with the ICC.

We passed your query on to James Milton, who reported in the Racing Post on September 11th, the day after the news broke about the final England v India test match.
James responded as below: I've now spoken to bet365, Betfred and William Hill today about their settlement of series winner/series correct score bets. |
By:
They are all waiting to see whether the fifth Test is rescheduled for next year, or whether the ICC rules that the match was null and void or was forfeited by India.
If the Test is forfeited then Betfred and Hills say they'll pay out on the series draw and the 2-2 correct score; if the ICC void it then it'll be settled as an India series win by a 2-1 scoreline. If the ECB and BCCI can fix a date for the match to be played next year then the markets will be settled once that match has taken place, which is obviously annoying for punters whose money is tied up until next summer. Coral and Ladbrokes paid out on India, the draw & the 2-1 and 2-2 correct-score markets as a goodwill gesture as soon as the fifth Test was postponed but most other bookmakers (including Betfair Exchange, I suspect) are waiting on an official verdict from the ICC. We hope you find this helpful. Kind regards, Will Pepper |

Anyone’s guess how this one gets resolved. My understanding is that the ECB and BCCI will negotiate and if the ECB aren’t happy with the proposal they’ll go to the ICC. BCCI surely don’t want the 5th test next year given current score and having to bring out test players for a one off test against an England side with their best players back. Anything less than a 5th test will surely force the ECB to go to the ICC. Extra T20s or a one off test not going to cut the mustard imo. If the ICC rule then who knows which way they’ll come down. India had a full quota of players to choose from after all.

All correct score series bets will be subject to the following rule if the correct number of Tests are not played. For example: England v South Africa – 5 match series. South Africa are leading 4-0 and the last match is abandoned. Only customers who have backed South Africa to win the series 5-0 or 4-1 are potential winners - all other bets are losers.
Series bets will be settled in accordance with the official result. from betfred, so if thats the case ( if im reading this right), they will not be paying out anyway on 2-1, only on 3-1 0r 2-2 , is abandoned the same as cancelled ?. surely that rules is incorrect they would have to include 2-1 |
By:
how they are calling 4-0 in their eng v s.africa scenario as a losing bets beggers belief,
|
By:
Lols that makes no sense whatsoever. So a draw in the final test is a non runner.
|
By:
exactly kalli, ridicilous, so in the scenario of freds, if official result is 2-1, then every bet on series winner would be a loser
|
By:
very unusual for 365 and fred not to pay as goodwill gesture , they are usually best out there for that
|
By:
surely pak v nzealand cancelled this morning , should aid indias cause of not a forfeit
|
By:
That’s is about safety of players re terrorism not covid
|
By:
I think it will be announced as 2-1 otherwise India will not agree to another test unless it is stand alone.
Sorry state of affairs. It was a great series and a sour ending |
By:
There’s no point in playing another test whatsoever!

Hopefully reports that Gunguly is travelling to the Uk tomorrow to meet with ECB reps are true and they can hammer out a deal one way or another in the next few days

ecb desperate for india to forfeit, could be some tempting bungs under the table

I think you are right Elis,
Desperate! The Indian love of oneupmanship is surpassed only by its love of money so be prepared to think the unthinkable and an India forfeit! |
By:
This correct score lark is getting very silly. Either pay out on 2-1 or void it. You are just hanging on to customer's money.

By:
agree

ECB and BCCI agreed on a test next Summer according to Cricinfo. Not confirmed whether part of series or stand-alone though ‘likely’ to be the fifth test. Harsha Bogle on Twitter talking about it being fifth test. Looks like finds tied up for another 12 months then. FFS

cheers for that info kallasking,

The silence over the correct score in the Test series is deafening. I backed India to win 2-1 and the market has been suspended for weeks. Betfair need to advise customers what is happening. The treatment of punters over this matter is appalling.
BETFAIR, MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT!! |
By:
RIDICILOUUS , especially as coral and lads have paid out 2-1 and 2-2, no excuse at all for all for the bookmakers to follow suit, i understand different on the exchange to pay on both, wouldnt be fair to the layers , and its a disgrace for the iccb not to make a decision by now as well
|
By:
I contacted Betfair customer services and asked how they’d settle and they’re going on how the ICC announce it per their website. The lack of information given the importance of the series is unbelievable. I’m presuming the BCCI are waiting for the IPL to conclude before they resume talks with the ECB. Could be wrong but I’m not expecting an announcement anytime soon
|
By:
i should have said , not to follow suit, cheers kallis

I have written on this forum before regarding the correct score on the Eng/Ind series. Surely those that run Betfair must look at these comments. The suspended message is still there, weeks after the series, with no explanation. Will somebody from Betfair explain in public what is going on. it is a farce.
