1. If you cant score from a ball , leave it alone .
2. Unless a ball is heading for stumps , no need to defend it .
3. Score off the bad balls .
4. Don't "fish " outside off stump .
5. Where possible hit the ball down , not up .
Sure there are others , all additions welcome .
I see guys getting out all the time to balls which are not going to hit the stumps .
Bradman hit only 6 sixes in a 20 year plus stellar test career , the modern obsession with sixes may be partly due to batsmen growing up playing T20 and one day stuff.
Tests are different , but batsmen in particular do not seem to be able to adjust to "staying in " . South Africa at present are just throwing away their wickets for example . Little wonder that some average bowlers have figures better than they deserve .
They don't have the patience, the desire or the moxy most of the time..
