Was actually the kind of situation you’d back him in. He’s far from the premium ODI batsman the rankings say he is but he’s still pretty good, it’s just that we’ve got about 6 of our best ever 10 ODI batsman around at the moment (recognising of course that it’s very hard to compare across eras).

Certainly possible to beat them in a one off game, especially if it’s not a runway but England clearly the premium ODI side at the moment.

Anyway, won back a little bit of the £20k I’ve done in the last week.

How are England a premium one day side when they just conceded 361, 359 and 341 against the mighty Pakistan batting lineup?

I think they will be wrecked on a tough surface.

Won all three game. Can’t really see the objection to the best batting side ODI cricket has ever seen from the batting point of view. If it’s a tougher surface they’ll score fewer runs but that’s like complaining that batsmen score fewer runs against the best bowlers: that’s what the definition means. On tougher surfaces the England attach won’t get flogged around as much either and while I think they’re a really premium fast bowler short, Archer might fill that gap and it’s not a bad attack anyway.
