anyone know where can I look up this stat/theory

has a team batting first ever lost after scoring 40 off the last two overs? think it happened twice in this year's tournament.

If you're not happy with yourself that's good self-advice CS.

I'm usually ok with myself and confident of winning but today was a bit of a shaker so need to get back first game tomorrow.

I have little idea of what the odds were. To me they're just numbers that float around somewhere at a particular moment in time that are either good or bad for me.
Report Charlie April 6, 2019 7:09 PM BST
And as a personal rule are bad.
Report VardonVoo. April 6, 2019 7:25 PM BST
I just leave small bets up on those markets. If they get matched at all I adjust the positions if things have changed around a lot a day or so later, otherwise I just leave them alone. There's normally not a lot of active trading to be done until the last day. Very much a "walk the dog" set of markets.

I don't trust my judgement enough (or the integrity of the players) to bet "normally" on these limited overs markets.  Whenever I've looked at a team that I figured was sure to win from the postion they had reached and that the 1.5 on offer looked like really generous odds, something has made me hesitate and then I've watched in relief as they've gone on to lose. But 1.5 is way too large to lay a team that looks like it's sure to win so I stick to waiting on the sidelines with the aim of laying really short odds and hoping for a quick trade-back for a free bet. It's an irritatingly regular series of accumulating small losses interrupted by the occasional modest to large win and very occasionally a match that can be traded back and forth multiple times. Getting hooverd is a big risk too, especially if you're tying to follow several games at once.

Whenever I reply to your posts it seems to me I'm being antagonistic which I really don't mean to be.

I consider T20 to be a 'specialist' trading market that requires a fair bit of experience on to be successful. As with all markets there are obviously different trading methods as you can see from the, admittedly, few posters on here. If it works for you do it if it doesn't don't.

I could never make runs work but Grant seems to have cracked it. For me he's the best runs bettor but he doesn't, as far as I know, do match odds. Each to their own.

I read so many people saying that Tests are the bees knees for cricket betting, I maintain that T20 is the one you need to crack as there are so many more of them.
Report VardonVoo. April 7, 2019 9:51 AM BST
I've never really interpreted anything you say to be antagonistic. It's just healthy discusssion. Nowt wrong with that. We'd all be broke if we all agreed on everything.

Your point is a good one about the sheer number of T20s (and I'd include one-dayers, though they have their own quirks too). I would dearly love to crack both so if you've done it with T20s then I congratulate you (and any tips would be welcome). Me I'm just playing around with tiny stakes and looking for highly geared trades on outcomes that appear to be a lot more random after the event than when you read the threads before or during. Also, I just can't stomach betting big at smallish odds then having things run away from me. I've reversed and re-reversed before in IPL and it has only ever got me into big trubs. In fact, I always tell myself never to back odds on in any form of cricket as every time I've done it it's gone horribly wrong (excluding re-allocating existing built-up green across final day positions). With Tests my starting position in any size is normally at oodds of about 10-1 or higher. That leaves a lot of room for manoeuvre. I can't be betting big chunks at near evens reasoning out an edge of a few percent that could easily be just wrong or based on misinformation. Even fractional Kelly betting will blow you up quickly if you overestimate your edge at bets around evens.

I occasionally play with the BF runs market, but I think you mean Grant has mastered the bookie's run-lines, yes?
