I only look at the run lines on BF.

By "20 over run line" - what is this and who is this with? Do you mean a bookie offer a (slightly less than) evens bet under/over a certain level and just moves the level as the game progresses?

My understanding is spread bets are just +/- x per point/run above or below the quoted spread, but you lose the width of the spread when you close the bet. Not sure what happens if it runs to the end - maybe a closing spread either side of the score? Or just settled at the actual score itself?
Say the quote is 154-156 and you bet £10 per run over that - to close out at a profit the quote would have to move more than two runs in your favour, or settle at higher than 156. So a closing figure of 176 would make £200. If they collapsed you could easily lose more than £500 up to a max of £1,560 if no runs wer scored.

Charles, asian money dominates the cricket markets and are well rewarded with PC compensations.

That's also why the THAI no longer pays both ways.

Elsewhere markets have collapsed as layers have disappeared.

This is down to the BOTS and PP will direct you to the sportsbook all the time..

The true exchange model is almost non existent..

Racing snooker golf   you name it
Report Charlie April 2, 2019 8:01 PM BST

Asian money has always dominated cricket markets I would say.
No idea about the Thai apart from I hate it.
Other markets other than match odds don't generally interest me.
I can't really see how bots direct you to Sportsbook.
Exchange model is still there - you take your pick back or lay and lay off if you want.

People or bots or whatever have got smarter on cricket markets but the odds on one side are reflected on the odds on the other side. The trick (for want of a better expression) is to find which one is more wrong.
Report VardonVoo. April 2, 2019 8:50 PM BST
"Other markets other than match odds don't generally interest me."

"Match Odds inc. Tie" market is interesting to watch, especially when heading towards a close finish.
The result odds don't quite correlate though, cos they stand if it's a Tie whereas they'd be voided in the Match Odds, which I guess means everyone wants to lay short odds on a result but not back them. Usually the lay odds are about the same but the next tick or two of back odds requests are missing.

The traded volume is very light too and I'm not sure if there is any automated cross-market matching, except maybe on the Tie itself.
Report Charlie April 2, 2019 9:05 PM BST
VV
I'm not disputing anything you say.

When I'm trading which is generally T20, especially at the sharp end of a game, I haven't got the time to even think of another market. Perhaps the only exception is in the final game of a tourney on the Outright Winner market when obviously the Thai doesn't come into it. I do dabble in that.
Report VardonVoo. April 3, 2019 12:34 AM BST
But if you take a position in the OR it doesn't make sense to trade the Match Odds on the Final as well cos you'd pay full commission on any win which a red on the same result in the other market wouldn't offset (ignoring any PC mitigaton considerations).

I missed a profit the other day because I forgot to hedge my green in the Thai market. If I'd kept it, or the "Inc Thai" open I coud have kept half an eye on it. As I say it's interesting to watch, but trading it may not be that great due to the Match Odds having all the liquidity. It would be a good experiment to see how things changed if BF one day tried making it the only market though, but seems unlikely that they would.
Report Charlie April 3, 2019 1:19 PM BST
I didn't mean trade the Match Odds and the OR odds as well, I meant just trade the OR odds for the final match.
Report peckerdunne April 3, 2019 8:17 PM BST
As i said, cricket market tends to be the exception.

PP directs folk to sportsbook all the time, i never said bots do.

you cant place a bet(request a price)on horses without the bot jumping you in the que, hence you are unable to seek value and thus are not being matched by other humans, totally defeating the purpose of the 'Exchange'.

The break even nearly, but keep paying commission exchange exists for those not using the fixed odds, who will close you down in a blink if you show profits with any regularity.

The model at inception does not exist.Liquidity is in constant decline, proof enough. The forums are a ghost town.
Report VardonVoo. April 3, 2019 9:31 PM BST
I hate that when you contact customer services to query anything or ask for a market they are programmed to act dumb and assume you mean the sportsbook unless you specify otherwise. It annoys the hell out of me.

As for bots, the stay-in-front bots that really annoy me the most (and that I really can't figure out the point of) are the ones that are already at a level, then when you join the queue behind them at that price they then move their level to be one tick ahead of you. What purpose can this possibly serve? The bot was already going to get priority but now risks getting matched at a worse price - I don't get it.

The liquidity may or may not be lower in terms of volume/number-of-punters, but cross-matching , mirroring etc make sense. Where the exchange suffers is having a parent that is constantly pushing other gambling products. There are also several more viable exchanges on the market now where previously there was only a badly marketed and illiquid purple place. These other exchanges offer cheaper commission and no Premium Charge. For punters that trade popular markets it follows that many of them would switch. The competent punters are also the ones most likely to voice their opinions on the forums so their absence might be down to switching exchanges rather than abandoning the model itself.

As for the deserted forum - it  might be that successful punters of old have made so much money from BF since inception that they are on the higher rates of PC and no longer have a reason to be here, other than if they are using high volume scalping bots, which you wouldn't probably chat about.

Also, as people leave by natural wastage, where are the new forumites going to come from? It doesn't matter how many new customers the exchange has - if they don't see a forum tab they simply won't ever get to know that there's a forum. It may suit PP not to help their own punters to get too smart amd knowledgeable by going out of their way to promote it. With the frequency of weird glitches we seem to encounter it already very much feels like it is being treated as a legacy product.

I'm tempted to make a comparison with the lumbering giant that is Ebay. Fees are stupidly high, there's unfair competition from marginally-profitable Chinese sellers who pay artificially low international shipping and get away with selling products that most punters would get banned for, the buying experience is spoiled by spoofed search-result-hogging fake 99p "sample" listings and tonsand tons of duplicate product listings and normal sellers are complaining of not getting anything like the sales they used to achieve whilst listing costs go up and up. Some reckon they search on their own items and can't find them, which is disastrous if you try to auction something starting at 99p. Meanwhile there are now several good alternative selling sites that were simply not around a few years ago. Ebay now advertise as a normal retailer

Is Ebay trying to kill off the now niche auction model?

Is PP trying to do similar with the exchange model?
The exchanges were a threat to the traditional bookies - now they are mostly owned and controlled by them.
How times change.
Report peckerdunne April 3, 2019 9:55 PM BST
you cant match your own money VV

Think about it.

im too tired right now, but PP are screwing it....

its a simple model

use fixed odds

pay PC INCREASING just not sustainable, ASIAN books have a special arrangement though.

or as most do, lose a bit win a bit but keep paying commission, going round and round in cirles.

its the commission that kills, and the bots make the market impossible to attain value..

its truly fcuked,honestly.
