From cricinfo:
England coach Trevor Bayliss hopes the use of a specially designed Dukes ball "plays into our hands" in the Test series against West Indies. The ball, adapted to cope with abrasive Caribbean surfaces, appears to stay hard and swing for longer. England had their first look at it during the warm-up games at the 3Ws Oval and enjoyed it to the extent that they claimed 30 wickets in two days. Their swing bowlers appeared to find movement almost all day. The use of the ball could become controversial by the end of the series. ESPNcricinfo understands that the former West Indies coaching regime, headed by Stuart Law and Nic Pothas, were keen to use a Kookaburra ball in this series on the basis that England have a history of struggling to gain much movement with it. They were also keen to play on slower, lower surfaces, such as in Guyana, in the hope of negating England's seamers and exploiting a perceived weakness in their batting. |

Yeh looks like it's going to be 2/3 day games
|
By:
Tests seem to start with a near double figure draw price these days. Looks like the market has finally caught up
|
By:
Incredible news that. Not sure who is setting what agenda.
|
By:
Looks like a plan to keep the Barmy Army happy. After all, they'll be the only ones in the ground!
|
By:
Windies don't want a 2/3 day game, all those moneyed english tourists need to be spending money inside the ground.
|

If it's like here, the grounds will have paid up front to host the Tests. The WICB therefore won't care if the match is shortened.
I think they're more concerned that local people are completely turned off by Test cricket. The dull pitches are a part of that problem. |

Don't think I will betting at all in the series. Bad start times (for me) and absolute minefields.

Cricinfo:
There should be no danger of England underestimating West Indies, though. Having won only one series in the Caribbean in 50-years - the 2004 series in which Anderson was a non-playing squad member - they are under no illusions about the task in front of them; a factor Anderson believes is made clear in the eyes of the West Indies team once the games begin. "I think the bowlers have really enjoyed their first week here," Anderson said. "The Dukes ball has been moving around a bit and swung for quite a considerable amount of time. So that's encouragement. There might be a little bit of swing through the air and that just keeps you interested. It feels you can actually make an impact on the game. It just makes you excited to bowl and really look forward to playing." |

MY PERSONAL OPINION BUT
Im of the opinion the WI are that poor they wont win a test. That leaves realistically 3-0 or 2-0. If and big if getting on with any bookie for you isn't a problem 15/8 that sky bet stick up on 3-0 for the series is more than fair. For me IM PREPARED TO TAKE 2-0 SERIES WIN 4/1. On basis: a)supposed to be a bit of weather around b) can half see englands attack NOT taking 20 wickets at some point. c) a mix of the previous too. Also add absolute shenanigans such as dangerous pitches or outfields in WI. Hope for WI sake theres a few in. |
By:
They aren't too bad at home.
They have some decent players coming through, it's just about the application in the batting. Thomas and Gabriel are genuinely rapid even though Gabriel's attitude is suspect. |
By:
Hopefully this will be the very last series Talk Sport have the rights for. I started of being quite impressed by their coverage but ending up detesting their coverage of that Lanka series.
|
By:
Not sure Darren Bravo can slot right back in there & show his best as his home test form is rather mediocre it was in overseas tests where he averages 50+ where he was badly missed.
|
By:
I rate Joseph very highly. Never seen Thomas.
A 4 of Joseph, Gabriel, Holder and Roach is not to be taken lightly. They've dropped Bishoo so unless Warrican plays the spin will be done by Chase. |
By:
Couldn't believe my eyes when looking at the draw price this morning...my normal first bet is to lay the draw but not at 12. Have backed WI and hoping they win toss and bat first with a view to laying them later in the day at around 3.
|
By:
Think England will win this series comfortably and have all area's covered. West Indies won't be great and with the Test being in Barbados, it will be a case of spot the Windies fan. England are a really good side whether it be Test's or ODI cricket, the batting looks very strong and the an spin department is also at its highest stock for years. The usual array of seamers, should weather permitting, see a 3-0 away series win.

|
By:
no spin for windies and two for England, interesting
|
By:
|
By:
yeah lets hope for a solid start
|
By:
Chase will bowl some off breaks.
Big call for England to play 2 spinners. Needed to bat first to justify that imo. If the news about the Duke ball is true, I would have played Broad for Rashid. |
By:
still no pitch report
|
By:
very suprised broad misses out,bet he's seething
|
By:
Could have dropped Foakes/Rashid and played Broad. Foakes is 8!!
Jimmy will have to do a lot of work and so too Stokes. |
