Prices have been all over the place. I didn't take as much advantage as I should pre-play, partly as I had to get a few hours sleep.

Still got my £50 at 4.4 on Bangladesh but put £20 on SA at 6.4 just in case. Can see SA batting and batting and batting now. Then try and get them out in 2 sessions. So yeh the draw is likely.

I do not think SA will get to 500 though... (using the 1st innings as a rough proxy) but they are behind so may be a bit more circumspect in the way they approach the innings...

I don't normally bet on weather in particular but the forecast was for 50-100mm per day. That sort of grabs your attention.

As of now, probably the best 1.3 shot I've seen in a long time. This could easily be a draw without any rain, never mind the forecast.

Most of my bank tied up in Ashes markets, but I've maxed the rest out on this.

Had lay bets up at 1.6 for 50% of my bet, changed them to 1.5 then 1.44 and got taken at 1.33.
Now thinking I should go back in as have given money back.

Draw back looks enticing but I'm resisting because should the rains not materialise then I can't rule out South Africa win. My existing Bangla lay looks more secure and gives a 33% ROI which is a decent return.

looking at the 7.55 satellite there is a few hours left yet in that rain. It seems to be filling in behind it.

Also the outfield has to be a lot drier for a test match, compared to 50 or 20/20 cricket

I don't think there is any chance of a result. Just a bit of a trading opportunity if the rain does stop for a while.

That was a very stressful 3 days for me as I put my whole bank on the line, convinced there would be hardly any play. Not very often you see a forecast with 100s of millimetres of rain in it. In the end, my biggest win ever, so going to have a great weekend

Decent enough profit for me. Reduced somewhat by some poorly judged overnight trades.

The 2nd Test should be equally interesting. Lesson from this is, Banglas are no longer mugs at Tests, following on from their ODI successes. You can no longer safely lay them at 7 or 8 like you once could.

Yeah, like you say a nervy few days initially, SA bowled out cheap and not much signs of the wet stuff.
However forecast was always for intermittent rain and a terrible Fri & Sat glad the reports were accurate and Bangs were resilient.
Biggest bet for around 7-8 years, these opportunities don't come round too often.

Can anyone see a realistic scenario where it wouldn't be a draw? Hopefully there will not be repeat of what Cronje did, years ago. I really can't see South Africa making an extremely aggressive declaration where they could end up losing. So if we get a rain free Saturday (that might be a big if) with extended play, would that be an hour? So about an extra 14 overs, less 2 overs for change of innings, and 3 overs for South Africa to make up the 17 runs deficit (if they were going for it), that means that we would have about a 100 overs play left in the match. Surely SA would bat for about 55 to 60 overs to take a Bangladesh win out of the picture. What price would South Africa be to bowl them out in 40 overs, with Bangladesh playing defensively for the draw?

south Africa are more cautious when it comes to declarations, if it was Australia playing I would be nervous especially with Clarke has captain he is very attacking captain and he could set 220 target in 50 overs for Bangladesh from this match situation if we got a full day 5 play in.

I agree slip (although I would be surprised at that declaration from Clarke. I think he would be aggressive, but maybe not by that much). The forecast for tomorrow isn't good either, it looks very unlikely that we will get a full days play.

If Clarke did that though, it would certainly make an interest days play out of an otherwise boring days play.

Agree with pxb that Banglas are much improved recently. That knowledge might help us spot some good opportunities in the near future before the markets adjust.

I have often wondered why Bangladesh are not better than they are, when you consider that their population is 156m and cricket is their national sport?

Nice one Jucel for the big win. Like you and many others on this forum was very happy to see the rain come.
