I think Bell got a good one. Yes he should have got forward but it happens early on. There is a big question mark over him for me. He needs to impose himself on this series or make way for someone who has the mental toughness. His ability is beyond question but he needs to stand up.

I said England could be 80-0 or 80-4 at lunch, with the latter more likely, that was before rain delayed the start, but it looks like my original prediction will be spot on. A massive massive, drop by Brad Haddin though, as Joe Root, is comfortably Englands best player, and probably 1 of the best 3 players on either side, will that blunder, cost them in this match.

fundamentally this is a Draw pitch. nothing in it for pace attack. WHther England have got the ability to cash in on that and put the game beyond Aussies reach today and tomorrow remains to be seen.
