I'm a big fan of Broad - and think he will become a very good bowler over the next few years.
But if he is currently the 7th best bowler in test cricket - which may be the case - then the game is suffering from a worldwide dearth of quality bowlers.
Go back to most points in time over the last 30 years and he would struggle to be in the top 15.

There has only been two truly consistent fast bowlers from 2002 to present imo. Pollock and McGrath (both retired now). Freddie, Harmison, Hoggard, Jones, Steyn etc just don't quite cut it for various reasons (runs/wkt average as much as anything) When the Aussies were rampaging around the world for much of this period, they never had to face top notch fast bowling apart from Shaun Pollock (2005 Ashes being the notable admission when England played out of their skin). It is no wonder that all their batsman seemed to average 50+
have you got the rankings for the 'likely' two XI's?
