D13- top batters seem to do it all the time when the task is seemingly impossible. Chanderpaul often does it and I remember KP doing it as well last ashes down under.

Seems pretty selfish to me. would rather they go down fighting looking for boundaries or trying to keep the strike no matter how many more runs/overs there are left.

I don't think it's wrong at all Mohammad Yousuf taking singles at any stage. If Pakistan have any hope of winning this they need the tailenders to make a contribution.

Mohammad Yousuf refusing singles or going for the big hits is less likely to get them there imo. Maybe if they get down to double figures he might get more adventurous.

India were trading around 1.07/08 needing 2 wkts with about 25 overs remaining. O brien was plumb LBW but not given out. they managed to hang on for a few more overs and it started raining and didnt stop.

Tasmania V NSW

tasmania are pretty strong side at home. Bellrieve Oval traditionally is a low scoring ground, unlike GABBA and WACA.

My thinking is to back the bowling side whoever bowls first and look to trade from there.

Tasmania Squad:

Rhett Lockyear
Michael Dighton
Ed Cowan
Alex Doolan
*George Bailey
Travis Birt
John Rogers
Luke Butterworth
+Tim Paine
James Faulkner
Jason Krejza
Brett Geeves
Brendan Drew
Rana Naved-ul-Hasan
Jeremy Smith
Gerard Denton
Xavier Doherty

NSW squad:

David Warner
Phil Hughes
Phil Jaques
Usman Khawaja
Ben Rohrer
*Moises Henriques
Dominic Thornely
Dwayne Smith
Steve Smith
+Daniel Smith
Steve O'Keefe
Grant Lambert
Simon Keen
Aaron Bird
Mitchell Starc
Josh Hazelwood

this NSW squad is different from that won the champions league: No katich, No Stuart Clark, No Hauritz, No Brett Lee to start off with.

As with 95% of the time with test cricket, the unexpected doesnt happen. :) You just have to do the sums. :| Pakistan were never gonna survive 138 overs. :( They achieved just over half that to their credit :)

You can trade the panic in the market because people have the time to think 'but what if this and that happens? :0 ? '

The fact remains very few teams can bat out four+ sessions regardless of who they are or who they are up against.

Most of the time you are better off doing the equation, placing your bets and getting some shut eye. :)
Report Sterling Morrison December 30, 2009 7:27 AM GMT
