The 4th odi takes us to Eden Gardens (lets hope none of the 1996 crowd are in ;) )

Ind 1.87
SL 2.12

Dhoni still banned so Karthik will play again (wonder if Tendy has forgiven him?). Yuvraj ruled out for the rest of the series so Kohli will come in. Huge handicap for India, losing their best two odi players of the past couple of years.

Lanka have no fresh injuries but there is talk of old man Sanath returning to the middle order - probably more to do with utilising his left arm 'spin'.

Dew again to play a part given it's a day nighter.

Report bohemond December 24, 2009 3:20 PM GMT
say gambhir got out straight after - 2 new batters under lights and pressure on - it was a millionaire shot and as ib correctly pointed out if he was so keen to go voer the top at that stage take the power play

Report bigpoppapump December 24, 2009 3:24 PM GMT
it's just aftertiming.

"if they lose this". ie. the opinion is conditional on the future outcome.

when in fact a hundred at a run a ball to take your team from slim chance to likely winners is a great knock. no debate.

batsmen get out. that shouldnt be news to anybody. he's played attacking all the way through - nobody was knocking the 6 he hit two minutes previously.

Report Green Beard December 24, 2009 3:24 PM GMT
good to see a team shift about the batting order to have people who are best suited to the situation out there . . . . . too much rigidity and reluctance to step on peoples toes in many teams (england probably the worst)

only an arch aftertimer would reserve himself the right to decide which shots are unnecessary risks and which aren't on the basis of outcome. and probably not even realise that's what he was doing.

Indeed a walk in the park....or rather a stroll in eden gardens for the demigods :)

Amazing partnership by gambhir and future injun captain kohli :0

Unucky sri lanka :( .. you gave it your best shot .. but against this amazing batting lineup .. your best sometimes is nt going to be enough :(

Overall a very nice xmas present from the demigods to their loyal followers .. hopefully 2010 will prove to be just as prosperous as last couple of years have been :)

totally concur with the views on here, virat kohli looks one for the future, talent and looks to have a cool head on his shoulders. India chasing 300+ without contributions from Dhoni, tendulkar, yuvraj or sehwag is quite something and shows that indias bench strength in terms of batting is scary

merry xmas
