Report Sifon December 17, 2009 7:32 AM GMT
444444444444
Report Green Beard December 17, 2009 7:32 AM GMT
short of that, it was really 40 runs or so or 10 overs . . . got to 40 runs far earlier than 10, then pulled the switch and bailed alot at juat above evens on aus and havent really got that much involved, but all green on the draw currently
Report Green Beard December 17, 2009 7:35 AM GMT
with gayle gone . . . reckon aus are worth a back at evens or such if it drifts back there, so much time left is the thing, yes lots of runs but theyve been scored insanely quickly, still 20 overs left in the day

windies need to finish just the 1 down
Report Lix December 17, 2009 7:37 AM GMT
yeah, Aus probably still get 4 sessions with 400+ at WI later in the game. have levelled off at 1.9 . Gonna watch Eng-SA bore draw now :)

Report Green Beard December 17, 2009 8:36 AM GMT
been a good match for him jf done it a few times

if windies get within 100 . . . there is literally no way ponting gives them a sniff with gayle in the form he is, is there?

need another 220 runs though, but think its likely they do, and take most of tomoro to do it . . . get all out tomoro evening and ausies bat for whole 4th day and then try and bowl them out on the 5th?
Report Smalltime Punter December 17, 2009 8:47 AM GMT
I agree GB - no way Ponting will risk setting anything that Gayle could turn into a comfortable chase by scoring 80+ at a run a ball. Especially after watching SA p*ss a 400+ chase at the same ground last year, against a better attack than the one he's got here.

I reckon he thought the WI batting looked thin and decided to declare early and try to knock them over quick, confident that even if that didn't work, his top 7 can all play this Windies attack with their c*cks, so they should be in little danger of losing.

I was on the draw pre-match and bailed out at 2.4 when Gayle was going nuts because it was moving the match along so quickly. Plus it also suggested that WI might be more prepared than I thought to chase the game, although it's unlikely that they'll really be in a position to do so - they can only chase what Aus set them, and unless they get a lot better at bowling, that will be up to Ponting.

Can't see the pitch deteriorating much - it certainly hasn't done so in the past.
Report Lix December 17, 2009 8:49 AM GMT

Good day for the windies :)

As i suspected ;) tricky ricky declares arrogantly at 520 .. and lets windies back into the game :0

This unfamilier windies batting lineup well on their way to 500 + .. or rather this unfamiler aussie bowling attack well on the way to concedeing 500+ ;)

Well done to those that kept the fath with windies and layed aussies further yesterday at 1.3 .. and even bigger well done to those that also topped up on the windies in the 20s :0

Good luck all :)

Report Smalltime Punter December 17, 2009 10:03 AM GMT
Draw looking pretty good at the moment - need a nice slow day tomorrow, WI get up towards parity, say 500/6 by the close, then out for a smallish lead (say 50) on the 4th morning. Aus then bat for as long as they want and don't give WI a sniff of victory.

WI have batted very well but they still haven't done anything to suggest that they can bowl Aus out for less than 350, which I would think is the absolute maximum they can afford to concede second time round.

Danger is obviously that WI bat poorly tomorrow and are all out by tea 120 behind, but as Green Beard says, Ponting is unlikely to do them any favours with a declaration so they could always bat out for the draw if there's no chance of winning. Can only really see Aus getting them out second time round if they are having a death-or-glory attempt at victory.
Report bigjoe December 17, 2009 10:49 AM GMT
i could green out if i want ... but won't ;)

i have instead transferred a smal bit of my draw green onto he windies at 18.0 :0 ..i thnk ts very ighly likely hey trade a lot lot lower at close of play tomorrow :)

With Sarwan looking good...and a powerful , positive late middle order of Nash, Bravo and Ramdin to come as well as rampaul batting at no10 ... i think a lead for windies is highly likely against this toothess ausie attack :)

That lead for windies will see a flip flop between their and aussie price . and he differential between the draw and windies price will obiously depend on he size of the lead :0

Lookng at the aussie bowling and the windies batting to come i cn defnatly see a lead for windies of over 100 ... that should see windies ad draw prices close together on day 4 .. with the aussie price out with the washing :)

Good Luck all :)

still im not sure how this windies batting line up will go tommorow, tommorow 1st session going to be a big day. I agree with Big Joe, windies are a cracking price at 18.00, if they get a lead (and i for one know they wont put in a dumb declaration like Tricky Ricky today)

Is the draw at 2.06 not a better bet GB?? Or d'u think windies have a chance?

I myself can't see how windies skittle the aussies next time round, but interested as to what u think??
Report STEPTOES YARD December 17, 2009 10:04 PM GMT
Trying to play the game out from here-

WI get 450 after tea. Aussies finish say 30-0

Bat all day tomorrow for a lead of 400. Will probably then want to bat on if still possible into day5 as dont want to give wi sniff.

So wi need to survive 2 1/2 sessions.

Other alternative is all out 350 and aussies 150-2 at stumps with 320 lead.

bat till hour before tea on day4 and lead of 500+

wi need to defend off 4 1/2 sessions. Last scenario worries me with oz lay
Report Birchola December 17, 2009 10:06 PM GMT
The Windies really need to bat for the whole of day three if they're to avoid defeat imo.
Report Green Beard December 17, 2009 10:08 PM GMT
you are presuming 4 wickets will fall in each of the starting 2 sessions today though . . .

i reckon maybe 1 will fall in 1, and 2 in the other

reckon windies 5 down at tea, bat the rest of the day out and out very early tomoro morning, about 50 short of aus

aus bat for whole of tomoro and into 5th morning, and windies bat to survive 2 and a bit sessions

all depends on first couple of sessions today imvho

Report fredderf December 17, 2009 11:06 PM GMT
i think the west indies showed great intent, watching gayle was fanastic, scoring so quick, would have been great if he could have stayed in another 15+ overs. Im hoping that with the W.I needing to win, that they try to score atleast 3.5 per over.

300/ 4 at lunch ......400/7 at tea .....460 ish (-60) Winning bracket on the runs at the moment 399-449, level over, losing under. if they look like going over, then i reckon it'l be for atleast 8 down and i should be able at some point to bet 450 in the hope of making small profit.

For me, Aus end the day bout 100 in front /1. Bat all day tomorrow and maybe some of day 5 leaving the windies needing bout 400 in 80 overs. Get gayle early and the windies crumble. :-(
