this fckin site is an absolute nightmare
needs rectifying, obvious they can't manage their product anymore,we need separate websites or break the sports up into different websites, something better than this rubbish

need to stick the casino and arcade on another site
Report Saluting Darren Lockyer December 15, 2009 10:21 AM GMT
good idea ,email them mate,,i will, just get them away from the sports betting
Report DStyle December 15, 2009 10:23 AM GMT
be careful what you wish for.

they'll probably keep the casino and arcade on the existing infrastructure and migrate the sports betting site onto a couple of commodore 64s, given the current importance they seem to be showing it

Utter carp. Prices must have been all over the place during the outage.......
Report DStyle December 15, 2009 10:24 AM GMT
surprisingly little matched on the quack during the outage

Surprised how few people are raging about the downtime. I would have thought some serious money was lost.
Report the nugget December 15, 2009 10:37 AM GMT
i think the majority of forumites seem to have had decent books coming back to Sri Lanka trading at 1.14, if India had been trading at sub 1.2 me amongst many other would probably be fuming
Report chris_rogers30 December 15, 2009 10:41 AM GMT
For every good book there is a bad one surely.
Report the nugget December 15, 2009 10:43 AM GMT
yes but i think more of the bad books lay with those not on the forum judged by comments and the lack of rage
Report chris_rogers30 December 15, 2009 10:46 AM GMT

I wasn't involved at the time it went down fortunately
Report gp1412 December 15, 2009 10:58 AM GMT
dont normally post on here or bet on cricket, but i layed india at 1.06 at the start of sri lankas innings, it was only to make 300 but worth a bet
As they chased it down i traded a bit to make 100 on india with 200 still with sri lanka.
Then had to go out for 15 mins then the site was down, i wouldnt have traded much more but at the prices available i would definitely at least levelled my profits. So although i won and i only bet small IM FU*KING FUMING
Report West Coast Eagles December 15, 2009 10:58 AM GMT
i must admit I won, and won big tonight, but I am so angry that this site went down. I didnt have funds in betd3q and could not even out my profit. Definetly in future will have to have a plan B if this site goes down, it simply isnt reliable enough for my liking
Report scarecrow December 15, 2009 10:59 AM GMT
its always wise to have money at other places this does not happen that often but its nice to have a back up if things go wrong on here.

[i] Betfair Customer Services 15 Dec 11:57

Betfair would like to apologise for the unplanned site outage that occurred between 10:11 (GMT) and 11:15 (GMT) this morning. The problem was caused by the USB cable connecting the server to the network coming unplugged after it got caught in the pedal of the guy on the exercise bike who powers the system. The USB cable actually snapped, but once we had sent the suspend monkey to PC World to get another one we were able to get the system back online.

We are aware that the timing of this outage was particularly unfortunate as it occurred during one of the most exciting cricket matches of the year and once again we would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused to our customers. We have now got a spare USB cable to hand in case this happens again.

A list of affected markets is below;

"one of the most exciting cricket matches" was also one of the most ruined trading games.
The excitement was dampened a bit for some unlucky mugs on the wrong side of the equation.
(not me btw)

and then they take 1k in premium charge the next day :_|

they should make it so if they cant maintain the site, they dont take the premium charge, hardly a premium service

New to Betfair this year, and been successful in trading on the cricket, particularly 20/20. Good fun as I like cricket and I like making money. However, lost a tidy sum on the india sri lanka match due to the downtime as I couldn't trade out of my SL position due to the downtime. Bit stunned that this could happen as I'd never seen it before and it shakes your cvonfidence in using Betfair. Do they get their IT support from PC World!
