Quite attractive?

I know SA have a good record at Centurion but is the general consensus not that the teams are fairly evenly-matched?

yes that is the concenous amongst england fans and english press.
saffers will disagree, along with anyone else who is not blinded by the flag ;)
Report Monty's Wonderbra December 14, 2009 11:35 AM GMT
england played 3 here, won 1 drawn 2. I am probably going to oppose the saffers
Report Lix December 14, 2009 11:43 AM GMT
dont SA have a slightly carp record in the 1st test of a home series? I can remember Eng, WI,India, Aus all winning the 1st test in recent series'. Will do some more research.....
Report Injera December 14, 2009 12:13 PM GMT
Lost 50% of recent opening home matches I believe. Also they haven't played first class crick since March. (according to Radio 5)
Report laydraw December 14, 2009 1:01 PM GMT
yeah I think England look very good value, atleast until we are absolutley sure Kallis is 100% fit
Report bigjoe December 14, 2009 3:43 PM GMT
my preview of this series will be published at the other place tomorrow .. its entitled "rising from the ashes" :0 .. read into that what you will ;)
Report Lady Margaret December 14, 2009 3:54 PM GMT
why at the other place?

will be laying saffers and backing eng on first look at prices
Report lbw December 15, 2009 2:15 PM GMT
Groundsman on SSN suggests pitch might not be as green as it looks, either way I don't think the toss will have a massive bearing on things tmrw. I like Eng price too, cbl are laying the betfair price on England today
Report lorrymore1 December 15, 2009 2:21 PM GMT
after watching that interview im happy to take the draw on as a starting position on the 1st test
Report mafeking December 15, 2009 2:44 PM GMT
must be an absolute greentop judging by the way the draw is being shoved out
Report riccardo December 15, 2009 2:54 PM GMT
Decent money up to lay Eng/back SA also... although I detect the fainest aroma of eau de spoof...
Report Richard LL December 15, 2009 7:46 PM GMT
the way the draw's been drifting, you'd think there was a chance of a team inserting tomorrow.
Report mafeking December 15, 2009 7:53 PM GMT
agnew and vaughan were talking as though putting the other side in was a certainty
Report Carlos Valderrama's Hair December 15, 2009 7:53 PM GMT
what other place?
Report Richard LL December 15, 2009 8:14 PM GMT
cheers mafe, missed that, I think laying SA @ 2.2 now then let it run if they bat first and if they don't go level red SA and the Draw and hope Eng don't get anniahialted looks a fair way to go.
Report Sparta December 15, 2009 9:13 PM GMT
Hello Lulu.....will be opposing Saffers too if its any comfort....actually think we'll get a result and can't have SA over at that price, so good luck!
Report Sparta December 15, 2009 9:13 PM GMT
Mafe......Wolves WTF?
Report mafeking December 15, 2009 9:29 PM GMT
sparta, what can i say ? 1 scuffed shot wide in 90 mins was the sum total of our efforts. never ever looked like scoring.
Report Richard LL December 15, 2009 9:55 PM GMT
it is indeed Sparta, scope for much volatility in the morning!

I have never seen a test pitch with so much damp green grass on it. about 14 hours ago from Twittelator

rest assured the mowers/blowers/rollers will be out in force and it will look very dainty come the toss ;)

I'm sick to death with ramping curators/in-the-know commentators/press/misinfo prior to Tests nowadays. People betting on that info without seeing a ball bowled need their heads examined, though I do like the look of the Saf price from am opposing pov :)
Report Deadly Earnest December 15, 2009 11:00 PM GMT
Very wise words Ted. So many pitch assessments are shown to be wrong, and often not just slightly wrong but 100% completely and totally misleading.
Report ozpntr7 December 16, 2009 4:22 AM GMT
cant understand this price....understand that saffers always had the edge in the one dayers ..but messed it up at vital moments ....but on the other side the english hv been performing quite well (last ashes series )....expected saffer to be the favourites here...but not at 2.22 ....anyways...my bet is to lay saffer at this ridiculously low odds ..and back them when they trade around 3 ish ....green on all the three is the motto ...cheersss
Report big-game-player December 16, 2009 4:55 AM GMT
south africa overrated due to beating the aussies away.. got turned over at home..

same as england.. two evenly matched teams therefore england are the value yes..
