5/2 tempting anyone? England quite the betting enigma imvho, they're my bogey team no doubt, but both sides' bowling looks pretty weak to me, and SA's batting is scary good, but England just about clicking now and KP/trott/morgan/collingwood is a bloody good middle order now.

SA got the edge but going on recent results between the two sides, is about 1.38 the series for SA not pretty short?? ?:|

11/2 trott top scorer is decent, imo.

was 7-1 with bfred 2 days ago titan

think 11-5 for the 1st match with 365 a better bet than the series at 5-2
Report thetitan November 17, 2009 11:52 PM GMT
missed the boat then :(

7/1 huge, 11/2 marginal value imo.
Report Richard LL November 18, 2009 12:01 AM GMT
down to 5/1 now!
I'll go with the obvious and take strauss @ 10/3 looked our best batsman for a while and should be at home in SA.
Report Lix November 18, 2009 12:08 AM GMT
Steyn not exactly causing England batters nightmares like Brett Lee did is a big reason this should be a pretty even contest as is the 5-0 recent formline.

Still think SA win this Friday though unless the injury situation improves.
although the current odds of 1.44 are a sick joke

england to win the test series is a better bet

Have layed SA for the test series.
Report TopTier November 18, 2009 5:41 PM GMT
Wouldn't touch England at 5/2 for a odi series playing away against a side that has been miles ahead of them in this format for years until they show some consistency. There is potential there as opposed to no hope before but still not exactly instilling confidence in me yet that they will be competitive for the series win.

As said above, fancy a crackingly competitive test series.

sorry 7/2 for the series win.

think tites initial post price of 5/2 was a mistake

bowling isnt good enough to win this series

Saffers actually have two very decent spin options now for one dayers
Report johnterry 26 November 18, 2009 6:24 PM GMT
Previously I have been very impressed with Botha, against Australia last winter I thought he was outstanding, in recent months I can't say I still feel the same. RVDM has come on to the scene and looks to me currently the better player, performing at a high level whilst Botha's level has slipped. He doesn't look the same player to me.
Report Baker Boy November 18, 2009 8:03 PM GMT
In fairness to England, for the first time in my memory we will field a side with no's 3-6 all very good players of spin.
Report Green Beard November 18, 2009 8:17 PM GMT
sadly saffers have mediocre spinners

both sides have similar bowling attacks . . . but saffers batting is years better than ours . . no reason why we cant win though, england have a habit of putting 3 or 4 great performances together before returning to their abject state

1.43 is certainly skinny for me

richard strauss should be at home in sa ha ha pnly just read that

i am on the 1.44 and i think its a good price

i prefer to bet on what england do on the field, not on paper
Report Lix November 18, 2009 10:01 PM GMT
1.44 is a shocking price. Eng 5-0 in recent meetings, much stronger batting line up now with Trott and KP back, new attacking mentality, possibility of showers on Fri , Steyn not exactly in top form, Albie and Mclaren to bowl 15+ overs of filth, Anderson and Swann likely to be fit... etc..

I'd want more like 1.65 SA here.
Report d13phe November 18, 2009 10:08 PM GMT
dont agree at all

i actually price it up about 1.2-1.25 for SA if not lower

think people have got carried away again on england

The SA team is well balanced, experienced and used to winning,

SA Home Record last 5 years

What price for each game (on average) does 1.2-1.25 for the series equate to?
Report Only-the-Brave November 18, 2009 10:30 PM GMT
saffers price for the first ODI is ridiculously low. For the first time in a while England's batting actually looks pretty strong (barring probs Denly), and they all seem to have some sort of form/motivation. They hit 202 in the t20 game at Johannesburg despite a pish start, so obviously found the pitch decent.

Also the SA bowling looks incredibly weak. England have reasonable players of spin in the middle order now, and Merve and Botha dont seem up to much. Albie bowls pies as we all know, and Ryan Mclaren could go either way. Bowling attack is worse than England's imo, and will be relying a lot on Steyn. Strauss in form though so will hopefully be able to see him off. Either way the prices should be a hell of a lot closer than they are. Personally think England will win the first ODI.
Report Green Beard November 18, 2009 11:00 PM GMT
oh 1.44 series is a better bet, because obviously it can average out over 5 games or so

1.43 for a single match was very skinny i thought, i was talking about match odds

Is was planning to bet on the series score and saw the betting and wondered what happens if a game is rained off
Say ive done 3-2SA?

bookmakers will refund all correct score bets if 5 games aren't completed
Report richieboy44 November 19, 2009 11:45 AM GMT
with the likely hood of the first ODI being washed out it would be worth keeping the drawn series on side as 2-2 from 4 games becomes increasingly likely ...
Report crunchyfrog November 19, 2009 11:46 AM GMT
