ffs this test started a day early. ;-)
Report fundamentalist November 23, 2009 11:35 PM GMT
lets hope it finishes a day early too TT ;)
Report Girls aloud lezzer scrum November 23, 2009 11:37 PM GMT
Wicket before lunch please.
Thanks in advance :)
Report TopTier November 23, 2009 11:37 PM GMT
No so sure about that. 3.3 draw looks a decent back atm imo.
Report Lix November 23, 2009 11:40 PM GMT
draw is a weather bet imo. can they start early if we lose time to rain?
Report lippy November 23, 2009 11:41 PM GMT
you would hope so , with a 12 start
Report TopTier November 23, 2009 11:43 PM GMT
Draw a light/weather probably regarding the result but fancy it will go a lot lower in the next 2 days. Early new ball surface accommodating wicket. Might start looking a lot easier to bat on with NZ having some wickets in hand.
Report Lix November 23, 2009 11:44 PM GMT
think the TVs companies decide these days. this is a 4.00am start in Pakistan.
Report Girls aloud lezzer scrum November 23, 2009 11:45 PM GMT
Be very surprised to see any turn on here
Report fundamentalist November 23, 2009 11:47 PM GMT
shouldnt be a problem with a**elbow Phil ;)
Report TopTier November 23, 2009 11:50 PM GMT
Close 2 hours before sunset i.e 19:00 and less than 90 overs can be assumed before that. Need pretty clear skies at the close of any day to get the full overs in. As said, might well not need them but too many factors not to have the draw onside at 3+ at this stage imo. Not least the best NZ batting is still to come. :-)
Report Innocent Bystander November 23, 2009 11:54 PM GMT
Why would there be bad light two hours before sunset at a ground with no large stands to block out light? Sun should still be well above the yardarm when they are looking to pull up stumps
Report Lix November 23, 2009 11:55 PM GMT
fair enough TT. could easily flatten out. Just cant trust either of these line ups not to collapse at some point. Also got some bowlers like Bond and Gul who could get hot and run through em.
Report Lix November 23, 2009 11:56 PM GMT
could get cloudy IB.
Report Richard LL November 23, 2009 11:56 PM GMT
I can't say I'm overly impressed by Fulton or Elliot TT.
Report Return_Of_Dawsy November 23, 2009 11:57 PM GMT
why are nz favourites?
Report lippy November 23, 2009 11:57 PM GMT
Dunedin quite far south (even has penguins)

In another few weeks we have longest day of year , so it like june in UK
Should be no problems with light unless weather bad
Report Innocent Bystander November 23, 2009 11:57 PM GMT
sun will still be pretty high - dont buy the bad light ramp, but I may be wrong....
Report Innocent Bystander November 23, 2009 11:57 PM GMT

No issue on a clear evening but the cloud cover regarding the light is significantly greater when so close to sunset, i.e the rays ain't that strong to penetrate as before.

Penguin-obsessed Scot travells 56,000 miles in seven years in pursuit of birds

Sep 2 2009 Jenna Raffaelli

FORMER nurse Julie Odell has birds on the brain - a penguin obsession that takes her all over the world.

While the rest of the world enjoys their on-screen antics in March Of The Penguins or the animated film Happy Feet, Julie, 43, has flown 56,000 miles in the past seven years to visit far-flung colonies of the birds.

She has travelled from her home in Marchmont, Edinburgh, to New Zealand, Australia, the Falkland Islands, South Africa and even Antarctica.

She said: "I just love these funny little birds. They are so unusual."

Julie has seen many species of penguins, including kings, rockhoppers, gentoo and Magellanic.

But she still has a couple of ambitions.

She said: "I would love one day to go to the Galapagos Islands to see the world's most northerly penguins.

"I would also love to see the emperor penguins but this is an impossible dream as they live in the deepest Antarctica."

Julie, whose home is decorated with all kinds of penguin paraphernalia, can also indulge her hobby without leaving the house.

She views the gentoos at Edinburgh Zoo, which she frequently visits, via the zoo's dedicated webcam.

They need land to reproduce. Suspect the polar bears might eat them.

Amazed at how the gullible will pay up for rubbishy ebooks containing rubbishy systems-- So am writing my own one. Will be selling on trademe and ebay :-)

Easy to write and once it out there , it should be money for nothing.
It a football ebook by the way. It works too , not that that matters much , its the marketing thats important
Report lippy November 24, 2009 12:33 AM GMT
nice article about the penguins by the way.

Think i saw emperor penguins at the jingjhu ? birdpark in singapore

Jurong birdpark , worth a visit if you ever stopping over in singapore

Surprised at how patient Taylor is. It isn't as if he has been all at sea struggling to see the ball and move his feet while swinging reckless in frustration at balls he shouldn't. Probably the kiss of death but look determined for a slow steady big score. 4.0s looks decent.
Report lippy November 24, 2009 12:46 AM GMT

pitch should play ok this session. good batting conditions at the moment.
Report Richard LL November 24, 2009 12:51 AM GMT
nobody, looks to be laying or backing anything TT!
Report Lix November 24, 2009 12:54 AM GMT
My book is basically a big NZ lay at 2.6 thus far. Lots of blue stuff about on magic seaweed for tomo, weds and thurs. lots of sites say only 40% chance of showers. happy to have draw onside for now but dont fancy it long term
Report Lix November 24, 2009 12:55 AM GMT
Slog sweep. Taylor special :)
Report TopTier November 24, 2009 12:57 AM GMT
I find NZ at home dig in a lot more with the expectation they shouldn't be brushed aside. Avoiding defeat their first goal and this is bared out in this innings. Away they are far too casual as no one expected to do anything and usual fold as a result unless they get a free ride or the win opens up due to no doing of their own.
Report Lix November 24, 2009 1:03 AM GMT
this pitch isnt that slow! why do the comms keep saying its slow? It'll be quicker than a lot of pitches the Pak bats have played on and Bond bowls 90mph.
Report pitseapete1 November 24, 2009 1:03 AM GMT
although Kiwi's can be a bit wishy washy, you must remember the Paks don't travel too well and the weathers gonna feel cold.
This could well become a bore draw as both teams expect to not win so just go through the motions :)
am on the draw btw @3.45 lol
Report lippy November 24, 2009 1:06 AM GMT
Looks like bowling first was a mistake
Report TopTier November 24, 2009 1:08 AM GMT
No one is putting their money on to ride 1st day 2nd session Lix but taking a position for this innings or early 2nd the furthest. Draw set to go well below NZ price and Pak blow out 10+ and take it from there.
Report Lix November 24, 2009 1:09 AM GMT
not really. 96/2 is hardly a disaster for Pak and there was a bit of life earlier. Bond and co would've had Pak at least 2 down by lunch as well imo.
Report pitseapete1 November 24, 2009 1:09 AM GMT
In my opinion the Kiwis have almost done enough to avoid defeat,
go on the draw, till its odds on, then i'll be out of here :)
Report TopTier November 24, 2009 1:11 AM GMT
pmsl, never seen a side do enough in a session and 10mins to avoid defeat.
Report TopTier November 24, 2009 1:12 AM GMT
That is 1st session and 10 mins of course. ;-)
Report Lix November 24, 2009 1:13 AM GMT

Report pitseapete1 November 24, 2009 1:15 AM GMT

Very impressive partnership from these two. Totally patient but positive, even tapping back the first 12 balls after the drinks break to settle in. God knows what will happy when this partnership is broken but this Pak should be heading to 10s very soon even if the market doesn't agree.
