draw looks a good bet to start looking at the ground stats
Report im paying my mortgage through November 22, 2009 10:26 PM GMT
is there normally good money in this type of market though mate
Report d13phe November 22, 2009 10:30 PM GMT
not in this test
Report Lix November 22, 2009 10:32 PM GMT
Draw gonna be a player cos of rain/light but given 5 clear days would be a massive lay given the NZ batting weakness and the inexperience of the Pak batting too. pak gonna be massively reliant on Moyo/Malik to get the runs.
Report d13phe November 22, 2009 10:36 PM GMT
isnt it one of those dead drop in pitches?
Report Green Beard November 22, 2009 10:47 PM GMT
was just about to say what lix says

backing the draw means youre backing both batting lineups - not something id be looking to do

pak or the draw for me
Report lippy November 23, 2009 12:34 AM GMT
Draw dont make me laugh , will be all over in three and a half days.

And anybody who says it a drop in pitch has no clue.

less than 12 hrs to go and the lazy bastaaards at cricinfo dont have a preview up.

GB, did you mean Pak or draw lay?
Report lorrymore1 November 23, 2009 10:41 AM GMT
so far the weather forecasts look pretty good for nearly all days so a lay of the draw for me
Report Lump On November 23, 2009 11:43 AM GMT
This venue last year was a sham - 2 days wiped out with poor drainage and add to the late starts light will be an issue.

Draw seems to be a runner unless its a green green top.
Report Innocent Bystander November 23, 2009 11:48 AM GMT
Sunset is 9pm, so late light may be less of an issue
Report lorrymore1 November 23, 2009 11:48 AM GMT
not really sure that the drainage being bad will make too much difference as it dont like they are gonna get any rain,or rain of any significance
Report miss solomon November 23, 2009 2:29 PM GMT
read on cricinfo they are expecting some rain and drizzle
Report Green Beard November 23, 2009 2:33 PM GMT
im thinking the draw or pakistan win are the results to keep onside

so lay nz
Report lorrymore1 November 23, 2009 2:36 PM GMT
this site may help with the weather but most forecasts ive looked at all suggest no rain today and very little if any till friday.

unless the weather changes i cant see the draw but think the most likely result is pakistan

Cric_misinfo is hardly worth listening to 90% of the time. Take their lastest pitch report..... Very insightful. NOT!

Pitch and conditions
New Zealand has never hosted a Test in November and the maximum temperature in Dunedin over the next five days is predicted to be 16 degrees. There is rain forecast on days two and three and scattered showers on the fifth. The fifth day of the last Test at the University Oval, against West Indies in 2008, was washed out after which questions were raised about the ground's drainage. The primary challenge for Pakistan, though, will be to adjust quickly to the low temperatures. The Dawn newspaper even reported that the players were unable to stay warm with the kits they had been provided with.
Report Lix November 23, 2009 3:47 PM GMT
Ah, the old 'lay Asian sides and west indies when its chilly' routine.

another reason to lay the draw. :)
Report Ernesto November 23, 2009 4:55 PM GMT
and the fact that the pakistan kit manager hasn't packed any jumpers :D

They'll freeze.

What is it with tests starting on Mondays & Tuesdays? Virtually no cricket on a weekend when the majority can go and watch. Farkin joke, well done India and NZ.

PS Lay draw ;)
Report WhoopSandwiches! November 23, 2009 6:19 PM GMT
Having watched the New zealand tour of sri lanka(and chortled accordingly) it is safe to say the test format is not their strong point, particularly their batting which was woeful!! I know months have passed but not enough winters to make them a good test team. For the reasons above the value has to be a Zealand lay at 2.76 and get the draw covered nicely....now time for a question

Q: What have i missed? because the New Zealand lay looks REALLY good value.
Report lippy November 23, 2009 6:37 PM GMT
Its pathetic , most people want to watch cricket at the weekend , this match will foninsh at 2.15 on friday
Report lippy November 23, 2009 6:41 PM GMT
New umpire rules in place for this match.
The umpire can use the ball trajectory when determining his video decision
Report lippy November 23, 2009 7:31 PM GMT
Going to be a wicket fest, kiwis no patience or batting technique , scoring will be fast and wickets will tumble
Report STEPTOES YARD November 23, 2009 7:34 PM GMT
Was plenty of draws in last nz test summer against wi and India
Report Ernesto November 23, 2009 7:39 PM GMT
There was quite a bit of weather intervention though wasn't there SY.

NZ had a pop gun attack back then and a fit Jesse Ryder scoring big runs on flat pitches. having Bond back is massive. really fancy 3 results here (weather permitting)

Not really any out and out blockers on either side too. No Chanderpaul/Nash types to slow the game down.

2 draws vs WI. 1 was weather affected, the other was down to a big score from Chris gayle 2nd inns (he got 197! including 7 sixes ! :0 )

Gayle goes for a more 'normal' score and that would never have been a draw. Bit of a moot point like saying 'if my gran had a d1ck etc...' but still relevent imo.
Report bigpoppapump November 23, 2009 7:54 PM GMT
it's not a draw pitch if it's anything like last year. draw was a weather last year, and that featured WI who are possibly the only team less reliable than these two [and England of course].

3.0 for the draw assumes a lively deck but time lost. firm prematch opinions for insiders and guessers only.
Report worcester sauce November 23, 2009 7:56 PM GMT
any team news yet are kiwis still down to their 2nd eleven ?
Report brentford November 23, 2009 7:56 PM GMT
disagree about last year, considering it was largely over cast and damp it was flat as anything,
indications about how it plays more usually accepted - but it was Oval (not 2009) flat last year and only the lack of quality batting lead to ordinairy scores.
Report Lix November 23, 2009 8:07 PM GMT
flat pitch or not. Scores of 365 + 44/2 vs 340 would suggest a result would've been very likely given more play.
Report brentford November 23, 2009 8:10 PM GMT
which is a different criteria,

seems to have been pretty ordinairy for some of the regional games judging by the media so maybe will be more lively this time round but was anything but in the most bowler friendly atmospheric conditions last year.
Report bigpoppapump November 23, 2009 8:11 PM GMT
twice in a row means it wasn't a typo first time brenty. sorry, but time for some tough love:

nah repetitive typo I'm claiming :)

Bangas put on 161 for their 1st wicket in 2008 (though that was after the traditional 1st inns skittling).

sorry brenty, but as you can see - i is way over to the right, when [if you were trying to type ordinary properly] you'd be going a to r and your possible typos wouldn't include i between a and r.
maybe ordinaery. or ordinafry. or even ordinadry. but not ordinairy. not even once. never mind twice.
