Very generous but very unusual. Not sure how well off he is but you wouldn't come across many examples like this in sport. Top man imo. Good luck to him at Sussex and hope he comes good again.

The only similar gesture I can think of is when Emile Heskey contributed 100K to Leicester City out of his own pocket when they were in financial strife.

Jokes aside, what a lovely gesture by the man. I doubt he is poor but given the relative short careers of sportsmen (and the fact he's not guaranteed to play international cricket again) 10k isnt exactly pocket change to the man.
